Yeah.... I hope the Suxers win tomorrow, otherwise I'd miss our little riot here on Monday night.... You know there are some computer stores near the Staples Center ;)

Oh man, I just love Lakers fans. Most think with their egos more than with their brains. These Lakers can't even touch the Lakers of old, neither can any of the other teams in the league. Why do you think the league keeps playing those stupid propaganda commercials that reiterate how the game hasn't changed? You know which ones I'm talking about. The ones where Kareem does a hook and you see Duncan doing a hook the next second. Everyone knows the "magic" is gone. The only reason the finals are getting more ratings is because everyone heard how Philly spanked the Lakers in the first game. And they wanted to see more.

Magic was able to help win one game while Kareem was down. He still needed Kareem for the other three wins. The lakers have won games when Shaq was injured. Even if Shaq went down between now and friday, the Lakers would still be champs.

Are you kidding me? Show me one game where Kobe hit the last shot to win. Kinda hard isn't it? Kobe's too young. He's not ready to lead his own team and neither is anyone else on the team. Everyone talks about how Kobe's game has developed but no one mentions the improvement in Shaq's game. He's become a real leader. He passes for crying out loud. I remember in his early years, he'd be worse then passing it to Kobe. He was a freakin' black hole. But now, the Lakers run an inside-out attack, with Shaq! It still amazes me how a center can be the starting point of an offense. Phil Jackson's done an incredible job taming not only Kobe's ego but Shaq's as well.

Lakers vs Suns conference semifinals last year, game 3 I believe. Kobe hits a shot with 2.4 seconds on the clock to win the game for the Lakers.

Lakers vs Warriors a few years ago, Lakers down 20 in the fourth, rally to within 3(with Kobe leading the way) with seconds on the clock. Glen Rice goes to the line hits the first FT, misses the second on purpose, Kobe comes from the right side to tap it in at the buzzer to send it into OT, where the Lakers dominate and win the game.

NBA Finals last year. Lakers vs Pacers game 4. Shaq fouls out as the game is going into OT. Bryant takes over in OT with 8 points, scores on three consecutive possessions, including putting back a Brian Shaw miss with a reverse layup with 5.9 seconds on the clock to give the Lakers the 120-118 win.

Here is an article which asks NBA execs(including Jordan), and players. "If the Game is on the line, who do you want to take the last shot?" Kobe received the most votes (16 out of 40). Draw your own conclusion.

You want me to keep going? Because I could, those are just the ones that jumped into my head.

BS, without SDhaq the Lakers would be hard pressed to make the playoffs. Put pressure on Kolby and he Blows like an ugly Hooker on Saturday Night.

OK, the reason they'd say that is because they realize their ratings suck and that the NBA is in desperate need for a Superstar besides Fat Shaq.

Read the article. They also ask, "Which current player do you want on your side in a must win game?"

Shaq was first with 22 of 35 votes.

That just goes to show how pathetic the talent level in the NBA is today.

Red, you cannot honestly tell me you think Shaq would not have been a top player at ANY point in NBA history. If you do think that, you are either completely blinded by Laker hate, or completely devoid of any hoops knowledge. Some players are just special, regardless of if the league has been diluted by talent.

I'd take Magic Johnson or Michael Jordan over Shaq any day of the week. I'd rather have a great player who is a leader than a great Player who is more interested in his own stats and bedding down Serena Williams.

Hate to break it to you trmiv but I was responding to this statement of yours

<< Red, you cannot honestly tell me you think Shaq would not have been a top player at ANY point in NBA history. >>

Hell I'd take Larry Bird, John Havelceck, Jerry West, Julius Erving and Kereem Abdul Jabbar among others over Fat Shaq.If Shaq doesn't watch out in couple of years he's going to look like William "the Refrigerator" Perry if he doesn't lay of them Big Macs.

Shaq's weight has been relatively consistent for the past three seasons, it isn't going anywhere. His face has actually gotten fatter since the playoffs began, but that is because he started taking anti-inflammatories again to play through the pain in his ankle. He had stopped taking them out of fear of liver damage, but said he started taking them again because he he would do anything to win in the playoffs. He also said he has committed to Phil Jackson to coming in at or around 300 pounds next season. He says, "under" 300, but I seriously doubt that.

Again, my question to you was:you cannot honestly tell me you think Shaq would not have been a top player at ANY point in NBA history.

I did not say the top player, I said a top player. Bottom line is, Shaq is among one of the top 10 centers to ever play in the NBA.

I also didn't even say he would be my top pick if I was picking my "All Time" team.

BTW, Is calling Shaq "Fat Shaq" all you have on him? I know its hard to find something to pick on about a guy that dominates the game like he does, but picking on his weight is weak. I'd bet anything that he is in 10 times better shape than either you or I.

Red: man, you really hate the Lakers don't you? I admit Kobe isn't in the same league as MJ, but Shaq is great. You corrected me on my Russell thing yet when I pointed out that Russell was only 6'9, you never responded. Damn, its one thing to critique, it's another to just be so blinded by your hatred for the Lakers that you have no objectivity whatsoever.

If you read my posts, I like the Lakers, but I never have said they were the greatest. You on the other hand, want to live in the past for some odd reason. Yes those players in the past were great indeed. But some of those players in the past do not have the same strength and athleticism of today's players.

You keep harping on "fat shaq". I really have no clue as to why you would pass yourself off as some insightful nba conversationalist when you really have not given any insightful commentary. Learn some objectivity and come back with some more suitable discussion material.

I'd see that you were just another Lake Fanboy

<< But some of those players in the past do not have the same strength and athleticism of today's players. >>

They make up for it by having all around skill which includes Defense, Passing and the ability to make Free Throws

<< I really have no clue as to why you would pass yourself off as some insightful nba conversationalist when you really have not given any insightful commentary >>

I'm not passing myself of as any insightful NBA Conversationalist just like I don't consider you one either

Hey Tonto, when you start making the rules here maybe I'll take what you have to say more seriously. Meanwhile don't even think of telling me to "come back with some more suitable discussion material". The last person I'm going to heed is some punk ass Laker Fanboy whose knowledge of the game spans maybe 10 years.

Red: You sure have a lot of anger against Laker fans..
I'd see that you were just another Lake Fanboy
I stated my viewpoint fairly intelligently without having to resort to being an ogre.

Tonto..hardy har har. Laker Fanboy once again. Any new comedic material? Spans 10 years? Hmmmm...I may not be that old but you know, some people actually read about NBA history.

If you want this to start into a baseless flaming war..so be it...Oh, like Wilt had any free throw skills...Granted he was great, but not at free throws.

Another thing :
I'd rather have a great player who is a leader than a great Player who is more interested in his own stats and bedding down Serena Williams.

Oh yeah, that's a smart one. And you call me a punk ass. Who wouldn't want Magic or MJ on their team? Just think of how dominant MJ's Bulls could have been with Shaq as a center instead of no-names like Cartwright and Purdue.

Yours truly,
Laker Fanboy/Punk Ass/Unknowledgable About Anything Other than Stuff that Happened in the 80's/Uninsightful Ignorant NBA fan/Tonto/Russell was only 6'91/2 and 220 lbs/Living in the Past is Better than Progress
