<< Tubby Shaq would foul out by the third quarter trying to defend Jabbar. On top of that Jabbar would have killed him with free throws. >>

Shaq is not foul prone, so I doubt that would happen. Kareem could easily get his skyhook off against Shaq, as he could against anyone. But, on the defensive end, Kareem would have a tough time with Shaq. I recall an interview with Kareem where he stated as much. He was simply too light to defend a guy like Shaq. Look at Mutombo, he was supposed to be this defenive force, but he is getting absolutely STOMPED by Shaq night in and night out.

Really though, its completely pointless to debate this. Its not like they will be playing against each other anytime soon.

<< THose guys are nothing but shills saying what ever the NBC Executives want them to say. The proof is in the ratings and the ratings are down as is the skill level >>

Ramsey works for ESPN. I think you dismiss his analysis by being way too cynical. They aren't the freaking president, they're sports analysts. What would ESPN gain by telling Ramsey to say the Lakers are playing great basketball?

ESPN exec: "Hey I know how we can increase ratings. Lets force Jack Ramsey to say the Lakers are playing great basketball."

2nd ESPN exec: "You know, that just might work!"

The ratings for this years finals have acutally gone up. I know there is an article on yahoo that says this years game 2 had higher ratings than the finals during the Bulls last title run.

<< Shaq would kill Kareem, and Jordan would have a tough time with kobe. This lakers team would destroy any of the teams you're talking about. >>

Dream on Laker Fanboy. Jabbar wqould score on will with his patented Skyhook over that fat ass Shaq (he really should layoff the Burger King). On top- of thqat Jabbgar would pass Fat Shaq Blind. He had the full package were as the only full package Fat Shaq has is between his fat legs. Kobe couldn't carry Jordan's Jock (unless it was around his neck) Imagine if Iverson had Shag on his team, the Sixers would never lose a game.

Obviously you never saw those teams play or you wouldn't be spouting such ignorance.

So it's gone from Kobe vs. Jordan to Shaq vs. Kareem?

I can kind of understand Kobe vs. Jordan since Kobe's game is very similar to Jordan's. However, Shaq is one of a kind! The game he brought to the NBA has never been seen before. There were big guys, but never big guys that had the skills that he has.

Is it possible for you to objectively debate anything without resorting to petty insults?

and you think shaq or anybody else you hate in the NBA cares? their salaries prove that they are desirable players.

Apparently not.

You know nothing about me Red. And, you have no idea how long I have been a Laker fan. I have lived and breathed Laker basketball since I was a kid.

Hey, it wouldn't be fun if he didn't. ;)

I bled celtic green back in the day. I lived in LA and loved to hate the Lakers. I watched the Magic and Kareem's lakers play Larry's celtics in a regular season game at the forum (the lakers won by 20). I've seen Bird's house in French Lick. If Larry says that Shaq is a great, unstoppable player, I belive him.

This lakers team is my all-time favorite. MJ's bulls teams were boring to watch. Not these current Lakers.

Go get shaq's book and check it out. If you're a fan of the game, you'll love it. You'll also get a different view of Shaq, Kobe, Phil, and the rest of the lakers team.

I can objectively debate anything related to basketball, and if you want to, lets do it. But I will not continue to talk about basketball with someone who resorts to calling people "fanboys" when he sees he is beaten in an arguement.

<< There's nothing worse than Laker Fanboy Bandwagoneers like yourself. >>

Again, you know nothing about me. Describing me with the team "bandwagoner" is laughable at best. Ask my friends or familiy how I have been during basketball season for the past 16 years (since I was 10 and old enough to truly care and be knowledgable about basketball), and you would quickly find out that I am anything but a bandwagon fan.

What are you? 45? 48 years old? And you are in a thread about a basketball team you don't even like calling people "fanboys." Sad.

You know what's sad Fanboy, the fact that you haven't picked up that I am teasing the hell out of you. One expresses his opinion about the Flakers and if it's one that you don't agree with you get upset.

This thread is so long, I'm not even gonna bother reading all of it. I just want to say as a Philly fan, I'm just glad that Kobe still hasn't proved anything to me. Shaq, naturally being the monster that he is, is pulverizing the sixers, but Kobe looks more and more like a Scottie than a Jordan. Yes, I know. We've all been fed that line about Kobe doing what's best for the team and stepping down to play with the team. But with all the comparisons of Kobe to Jordan lately, would Jordan have stepped down?

One thing I'll come away with from the finals is that Lakers fans still don't have substantial proof to claim that Kobe's the best player in the league. I'd love to see this kid play, but he really needs his own team to develop his potential and finally back up what his silly smirk says every game.

as much as i like kareem, i'm not sure how effective his skyhook would be after getting pounded by shaq for most of the game.

Shaq would be puking his lungs out trying to keep up with Jabbar and the rest of those run and gun Lakers. Keep in mind that back then there wasn't any three point shots. And the Lakers Bench today suck hind tit compared to the Lakers bench back then. Rich Fox? He's just a thug that can barely get out if the way.

Hell the Laker Team with Chamberlin, West, Goodrich and Hairston would have made this Laker team their Sunday morning bitch.

Funny, you're the one calling me upset. "Opinions" are one thing, but immature crap spewing is another. You have not made one valid point in this thread without resorting to petty insults on the team and its fans. What is your opinion Red? What? "Flakers suck," "Tubby Shaq sucks," "Laker fans are bandwagoning fanboys"? Real solid stuff there Red. I can see exactly why I should take your opinions seriously with creative arguements like those. I would expect someone your age to be able to put together a bet "opinion" but I guess I am expecting too much. Go back to bashing politics, you are much, much better at it.

Can't argue with that. That team would be made most of the teams of the 80's their bitch as well. That was one of those once in lifetime teams, I wish I would have had a chance to see them play live instead of on tape.

trmiv, the difference between the great Celtic and Lakers teams of old and todays Laker Team is that those teams weren't so dependent on one player. If Johnson had an off night then Worthy, Jabbar or Wilkes would step up. If Fat Shaq get's indegestion and can't run the court then the Lakers are done, stick a fork in them.

It was a pretty good game up until the end... I gotta give Iverson some credit though... that kid can play. What with some people in the forum saying iverson sucks... any of those players out there probably have more bball skillz on their pinky then anyone here! :) Anyway... i'll say Lakers in 6... go SIXERS!!!
