why do you guys lock your phones? It's not an iphone where you accidentally hit the big button in the middle (great design Apple! PFFT.). I locked it the first few days and then thought to myself... wtf for? I've never turned it on accidentally since then.

The main reason of the lock screen is security, so that someone can't steal your phone and instantly have access to your entire life, not pocket dialing or inadvertent app launches in your pocket. I find all the efforts people go through to put messaging, email, phone, contacts, etc, OVER the lock screen idiotic.

Has anyone else flashed the 4.04 radios/boot loader? I just did it.. hoping to see some of the good results others on xda have seen.

Anyone know anything about getting Gmail to push/refresh while on wifi? I think this might be a general android issue, but I'm not sure

heh check this out - I was told by 2 different VZW employees before I signed up that under my work discount plan the $30 data plan would also get the 20% discount and so I re-upped for 2 years and did my first data plan. First bill arrives and no discount on the data. VZW business support tells me as of 7/7/11 it only applies to $45+ data plans. Well I wouldn't have signed up for 2 more years had I known this (in other words, given the correct information) - forward my issue to a manager. Well that manager didn't ever respond so I raise the issue again. A few correspondences with level 1 with escalations later, I just get a call back saying they've applied the 20% off data and given me unlimited data since that's the only way they can apply it now. Score. Too bad I barely even avg 1gb a month.

Nice one. I have unlimited data on VZW but like you rarely hit over 1gb. I do have a few months throughout the years that I've gone over 2gb but that's rare for me. Either way 24.99 a month for unlimited data is awesome and probably why I won't leave VZW for a while.

yeah seems like they changed it. i know if i got in my account which is grandfathered unlimited, that if i try to change my plan to a 2gb (or well 4Gb right now) one, and click calculate discount, you get nothing. but on the $50 one you get 20%.

so its kind of stupid if you have the discount. if you have the 2/4GB plan vs 5gb/10gb on a discount the difference is only $10. if mobile hotspot was included with tiered data (which it shoudl be since you are actaully paying by the byte now) and i was faced with those options i guess i'd go for the 5/10GB. but then again i've used more than 2gb like 1 time ever.

My battery life with Franco kernel with hotplug has been awesome

because you dont use your phone alot like me.

ive given up on saving battery, i go from 100 to 70 on the bus ride to school checking the forums using tapatalk on 4G.
I charge my phone for the next hour, back to 100, goes down to 50 before i can charge again, then up to 80~100 then i ride the bus home and it goes to 70. 😛

high school, heavy user, lowest brightness. IDGAF about battery life now

There is really no solution to the battery issue at hand with smartphones, they all drain power like crazy. Instead of compromising, disabling this and that, I simply just get myself an extra battery, on top of a battery pack charger that I bring along with me as well.

I am a heavy user and would have my iPhone 4, SG2, and Nexus down to about 30% mark by the end of my 8hr work day. I recharge on the go with the battery pack. That way if I need to be out and about after work I don't have to worry. Its a relatively cheap and short term solution to an ongoing problem that's yet to be improved by the industry.

I don't think that's impressive. Screen time is second on your list which means your phone wasnt on very much. I get better battery life than that on stock rom, stock kernel.

Battery life can vary greatly due to signal strength. But customs kernels rarely add much to battery life. Even undervolting doesn't really add much. People may get excited and act like it but results show otherwise.

what's that E next to the signal bars?

my desk is deep inside my office building, i don't get t-mobile 3g in here. The phone isn't set to 2g only though.

i agree that the difference is minimal. but this kernel, and especially hotplug, brought me from ~18 hours to 24+. I had about 2.5 hours of screen on time at that point, which I realize is only medium usage. I've seen the phone last up to 4 hours of screen on, but that's pretty much all at once and total battery life is then only ~12 hours.

yeah i know

The nav on my GN is total crap. First it takes forever to lock in a GPS satellite. Then it keeps on giving me incorrect directions, sometimes taking me farther away using bogus turns. Is there an issue with the GPS/Nav app? I've tried it a couple of times and it's let me down.
The phone besides the above issue is spectacular.
