Additionally, you should be able to hold down the power button and press Silent Mode in the pop-up.

It appears with ICS Silent Mode defaults to Vibrate; also, by merely pressing the icon in the Volume pop-up you also can only switch between Sound and Vibrate. To get true "Silent" aka no-vibrate, you have to go to Vibrate then press Vol Down.

Well that kinda sucks. Oh well.

Of course, being that it is Android, that should be easy enough to change - given you so desire customizing the phone through root.

You can go into Sounds in settings and change Vibrate to 'Never', and it will not vibrate when tapping the sound profile icon.

Figured that would be the case. There are quite a few settings I have rarely used, and some never... so I forget all the things that can easily be modified without issue.

Talked to my neighbor that has this phone, verizon version I believe. He told me to not touch the wifi icon, since if he turned wifi on it kicks everything else in his house off wifi, or something like that. Said it was a known bug for some. I looked around but didn't see much about it. Anyone know about this? Is this a ICS bug, a VZW nexus bug or a nexus bug in general?

I've never heard of a bug that let's one device boot all others off of a wifi network. 😵

That sounds more like a problem with his router.

Anyone tried the one-click root yet?

Nope. I just did everything manually this morning. Unlocked the boot loader, rooted, and flashed stock Google image using Fastboot to get rid of Samsung firmware.

I like doing it manually the first time so I can control the entire process and know what's happening to my phone. This way if something happens later, I know how to fix it.

🙂

It used to be "yakuzza" or something like that. It was Hong Kong version and was not updated by Google. Only "yakju" GSM and "mysid" LTE builds are updated by Google. All the rest are updated by Samsung. :|

FU Samsung. I'm no longer at your mercy with updates. Less than 5 minutes after I switched to "yakju", I had an update waiting direct from Google. 🙂

How does one check and change their build, and are there multiple LTE builds?

If you have Verizon LTE Nexus, don't worry. Every VZ Nexus is updated by Google. You can check easily by downloading GNOfficialUpdate app from the market but there's no need to check for Verizon phone. Every VZ Nexus is "mysid" which is the official build and updated directly by Google.

Only the GSM Nexus have different builds. Only "yakju" is updated directly by Google. The rest are updated by Samsung. I'll let you take a guess if any Samsung build Nexus received any updates yet. 😉

I tried to install and use Google Wallet on Samsung build and was told it wasn't available in my area. Switched to Google build and no problem! I got my $10 free credit. 🙂

LOL. I didn't realize that every Verizon model is 32GB. I thought my phone was 16GB this whole time. Yay for free upgrade?

What ROMS are everyone running?

Wow that is super helpful. I didn't know any of this. I am happy to know that my LTE GN is updated by Google. How do you even find this stuff out? Thanks!

I've been running Android Revolution HD 4.0.2 for over a week and it's been great. Really good battery life and very fast/smooth. It should be updating to 4.0.3 soon.

I plan to try out AOKP with franco's kernel soon as I heard that was a good combination.

There was a huge thread at XDA when this was first discovered.

Then someone asked Jean-Baptiste Queru, software engineer at Google regarding the different builds and he confirmed it.

JBQ has made Google factory images for Nexus available so it's easy to revert to stock.

But like I said, this issue only effects GSM Galaxy Nexus. You guys with LTE GNex are completely safe.

CM9 Kang with franco.Kernel. Like the LTE toggle in the notification bar and getting great battery life.

How stable is that one right now? Any particular bugs? Ive been so lazy to do a full wipe for a new rom lol. The stock rom has been restarting randomly for me every once and a while
