I think you'll find that due to the size (weight and thickness), it won't really feel as big as it looks. Everyone that sees my phone says "wow that's huge" but honestly, it's super light and a joy to use.

From google

It isn't physically possible to support UMS on devices that don't have a dedicated partition for storage (like a removable SD card, or a separate partition like Nexus S.) This is because UMS is a block-level protocol that gives the host PC direct access to the physical blocks on the storage, so that Android cannot have it mounted at the same time.
With the unified storage model we introduced in Honeycomb, we share your full 32GB (or 16GB or whatever) between app data and media data. That is, no more staring sadly at your 5GB free on Nexus S when your internal app data partition has filled up -- it's all one big happy volume.
However the cost is that Android can no longer ever yield up the storage for the host PC to molest directly over USB. Instead we use MTP. On Windows (which the majority of users use), it has built-in MTP support in Explorer that makes it look exactly like a disk. On Linux and Mac it's sadly not as easy, but I have confidence that we'll see some work to make this better.

Cool. I guess this explains why I've experienced much slower transfer speeds from my GN vs my Captivate over USB? Any way to make that faster?

hmmm another report from me about this phone...

i was in SF this weekend partying for NYE. given the level of drinking we did, i ended up dropping this on the floor maybe 3-4 times. the body of it holds up extremely well, there are virtually no signs it was dropped. i'm talking club dance floors so mostly wood.

i did once trip on a really crappy SF side walk, managed to throw the phone in the air, bounce it off both hands like 3-4 times and catch it left handed. i felt like jerry rice. hahaha.

also if you guys didnt know on ebay they are selling replacement bodies for the GSM one already for about $40. you can remove the entire casing with 6 screws and swap it out quick if it gets too screwed up. might as well go caseless....

Sorry to bring bad news but I ordered one of the XOSkins. It wasn't cheap either (no I didn't get in on the sale). If you want it to fit properly (read: not block) the earphone speaker/light meter/front camera, you will expose about 1.5 mm of the bottom of the screen. Not the end of the world but it's surprising that they can mess up on a piece of plastic. It's not rocket science. I paid $13 for it so I am not taking it off my screen anytime soon. But when I do, I'll replace it with the Bestskinsever skin that just arrived and see how that goes.

Which one did you order? They have two, one that is for use with cases that have a lip, and another that is for use without a case that goes all the way to the end of the screen. I ordered the one for use without the case, but I haven't used it yet, we'll see.

Best Skins Ever are OK, they protect well and go on well, I just don't like the orange peel effect I get with them

If I don't like the XO Skins one, I'll get one from SGP. I loved their products on my Droid and iPhone. Probably this one:

Shape has a lot to do with it too. It's just right for a phone this size. It's bigger (HxW) than the Bionic, yet feels so much better.

I also have the extended battery and a TPU case, and it ends up being about the same size naked Bionic. And it still feels better in the hand, and feels far more secure in my hand no matter how I'm handling it. That and I'm more confident around it due to the case. I was gingerly with the Bionic, and I still dropped it on day 3 after purchase.. though I was still getting used to such size.
Now I'm used to the Bionic-style size, so that definitely made it easy to get used to the SGN.

Every now and then I handle it without the TPU case on it, and with the extended battery (and the new phone back/battery cover), it feels absolutely PERFECT. The curves man, it's all about them curves.

That's what makes the thinner Droid Razr feel so unreasonably beastly in comparison - it's a wide and thin mini-slate. Too small to absolutely require two hands, yet almost too uncomfortable to hold with one hand (confidently, mind you... as in, not thinking you might fumble it if you so much as breath in its general direction).
It looks great, but just doesn't quite work as well as it should, imho.
Maybe if it had a smaller display, (or minimal/zero side-bezel)... if it's not as wide, it would work better.

I turned on my phone for the first time and everything was in Chinese. o_O It took me couple of minutes to find the settings to change it to English. Lack of hard button really confused me. I can tell Im really going to like this phone. So far everything feels very smooth even though Im on the initial release. I changed the wallpaper to black. I opened the browser and turned on inverted rendering. This is something I wanted since I first started using phones with AMOLED screen. It's awesome to see the option on the stock ICS browser.

SEARCH DOES NOT WORK!! And this thread is now 19 pages.

Can someone please explain to me why the Verizon version has 32 gigs of BUILT-IN memory and all the unlocked units only have 16?

Also, I cant tell if any support T-mobiles 3g or not.

Because Verizon wanted 32 gb. 32gb GSM is coming.

Yes, GSM version support T-Mobile 3g. Im using mine on T-Mobile. GSM is actually pentaband so you can use it on AT&T and get 3g as well. I plan to switch to AT&T later this year once my contract with Tmobile is up. It's part of the reason I got GNex now so I can enjoy it on Tmobile and later switch to AT&T and still use the same phone.

Well I am pretty sure I got the one for the naked phone, since I don't have the case but hey, maybe I made a mistake. I doubt it. Also, it's kind of pointless now because there's no way I can peel this one off and exchange it.

Thanks for the info on SGP. I'll add it to my list to try.

I'm using a screen protector because it takes away from the screen. I'm using a really nice case. Forgot what its called but they sell it at the Verizon store. Its a soft silicone with a hard shell over it

I believe you are using the double cover or whatever its called by incipio. I had that one but returned it. Didn't like the thickness it added.
Using the phone with no case or screen protector and love it.

^ saw the installed pics, has issues all around with lifting, id pass

Which one, the Martin Fields screen protector?

If so, well dammit. I was getting ready to order one soon, seeing so much hype for it.
But I want one that won't give me any issues with the front-lip around the perimeter of the Verizon glossy/translucent TPU case.

Who pays $16 for a thin piece of plastic? Order 5 protectors from dcmugen on ebay for $4. You can be sure it's the exact same thing.

dcmugen takes a while to arrive.

but even the verizon brand protectors are really good. i'd say much higher quality than the crap shoot of the ebay / amazon marketplace ones. granted they are $10-13 depending on any discounts you get, but you do get them right away.

Maybe I'm just missing it but how do you quickly change the ring to vibrate? Previous android versions you could swipe on the lock screen but now its just unlock and camera.
