So? Still don't care. The 2 apps or the fact that verizon has to approve don't bother me at all.
I think the cruelest joke the carriers have played on us is to introduce data caps and LTE 🙁
After the ThunderBolt, I decided the speeds were awesome, but the battery life issues weren't worth it, and dropped back to a 3G phone.
Awesome speeds/phone, BTW. Color me jealous guys 🙂
maybe you got a dud. i connected to N just fine
He might be referring to the volume+ app, and no, it does not distort the sound so long as you increase it conservatively. I have it on setting 7 and it is much louder and sounds crystal clear.
there's an option in advanced wifi settings to choose which band (5ghz or 2.4ghz) the radio uses. perhaps try toggling that? it should be defaulted to AutoPossibly. Odd that that would be the only thing 'bad' though? Need to do more trouble shooting.

No go. :/
what type of encryption are you using for WPA2 (tkip/aes)? try switching it to the other in your router settings.
I normally use WPA2 Personal with AES. No MAC filtering is enabled. First thing I did when trouble shooting this was to turn off all the security. Nexus can't connect unless its set for B-Only, G-Only, or BG-Mixed. Set it for N-Only, and it don't even attempt to get an IP address.
If that 4.0.2 update doesn't push out by the time I leave work Monday, I'm stopping by the VZW store on my way home.
Check in "settings - about phone -system updates" see if you can pull down the update manually
Rooted, Verizon apps gone. Looking forward to whatever people are cooking up. 😀
Instructions?
if you're stuck at the part where it says waiting for device, you've already downloaded the drivers, and it's saying 'android 1.0' on device manager, try this
Go to device manager, right click on android 1.0, click 'properties'
click 'update driver'
click 'browse my computer for driver software'
click 'let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'
click 'show all devices' then 'next'
click 'have disk'
click 'browse'
go to the folder you saved the new usb driver in (/extras/google/usb_driver) - you dont need to go into the subfolder
it should offer 3 options - choose the top one

Very high praise for everything except the battery. Which by itself may be a deal breaker for me. One thing I learned with my Droid: Doesnt matter how nice the gadget is, if you cant actually use it then its basically a five hundred dollar brick.
Oh, theres a nice new Verizon store in my neighborhood just down the road. Will go see it today at noon when they open.
i finally checked this phone out at the store today. it is very smooth. very slick phone.
i even considered impulse buying it and selling my rezound, but the big problem with it is it is so tall.
i generally use myphone with 1 hand and i can't reach the notificationm bar without having to adjust the phone with my hand. its somewhat uncomfortable and annoying to do that and i actually have pretty big hands. i can palm a basketball....
i wish they'd make one the size of the nexus S or something with all the same features and an SD slot and a camera on the level of the rezounds camera for image quality. the instant focus thing with the camera was pretty cool though, you can literally take 5 shots in like 3 seconds. i wish the headphone jack was on top and the back didnt feel so cheap. that battery cover is really thin and flimsy.
but it did feel extra slick jus twith ice cream sandwich. the browser seemed so fast, i can't wait to see what other phones are like once they get ICS ... though too bad thats a 3+ month wait
