My loud speaker thingy sounds like its blown out... I think I'll take it in for my replacement about a week before my warranty runs out lol.
Was able to get an EVO today at Walmart with the $100 GC deal. This thing is a beast compared to my Hero.
I am able to pull 4.5-5.5 mbps speeds from my house on 4G according to the speedtest.net app.
Went into the Sprint store today just to see if there was any way I could upgrade early. No dice but did learn that my upgrade actually kicks in the first day of the month when I signed and not on the exact date-to-date which means I'll be getting something new in a few days instead of late December.
At this point it's looking like the EVO is what I'm going to get. The Epic looks good as well but I really want to give Swype a fair shot and I think the best way to do that will be to not have the crutch of a physical keyboard available to me at all. If I dislike it I can always just return/exchange.
I do wish Sprint had a smaller version of the EVO but I guess I'll take what I can get at this point.
You'll learn to like the size. It's great for browsing/navigation/kindle.
Yep, and once you're accustomed to it, it's very difficult to consider a smaller screen.
Buy an extra battery or a larger battery as well...
I only mention Samsung's UI because I like Sense right out-of-the-box more than I ever liked Samsung's.
The Evo (mine, anyway) came with toggle switches for 4G, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS on one of the home screens (the one just to the left of the main one).
I don't think 4G will work in my area (unless I head into Nashville proper) so more than likely will load the mod you referred to that is known for the best battery life. How much are you able to push out of it on a daily basis? I'll end up being able to charge while at work so for the most part I doubt I'll want to haul around a spare battery. Just hoping I can get through a day or so on average (unlike my Pre).
As for the size, you're probably right. I just know I was messing around with an Incredible early today and thought it seemed about just right as far as size is concerned, usage, placing in pocket, etc. but you guys are probably right that I'll get used to it and won't want anything smaller.
I go back & forth with Cyanogen's rom, I live in a 4G area, but the battery life is so horrid, and I don't have any spare batteries yet. A good friend of mine is claiming 36 hours with Cyanogen, I'm a pretty heavy user and get about 9 hours with most roms...
I really need a spare battery or 2...
I too ordered the Seidio 3500mAh battery and am in love.
In addition, I've been running Myn's Warm ROM with King's #11 Kernel. Combined with the new battery, I can get more than a days use with heavy, heavy use.
I love my Seidio 3500mAh. It has made all the difference in the world in how I use my Droid Incredible. I can leave everything (Wifi, Bluetooth) turned on and still get several days of with heavy usage with no problem.
Your avatar is kinda gay... Just saying...
Is that better Man-snake?![]()

I'm kind of sad. I'm going to hit up Radio Shack at lunch and get an Evo to replace my Pre. I'm sad because I have to say farewell to this wonderful OS. Farewell Web OS. May you come back one day in hardware that doesn't suck.
did you do any "conditioning" with your battery?
Does it support G4?I have changed out to VirusROM Airbourn with Ziggy's #12 kernal and am in love. Just as fast as CM and great battery life. Virus has done some great things with the visuals and I absolutely love it. I used to be a FreshROM nut but have moved on and glad I did.
One thing I've noticed with my Evo is phone numbers in emails and the like aren't displayed as links that I can pull up with the dialer. Is that an Android thing in general or just something Sense is lacking?
Phone numbers in emails aren't shown as hyperlinks on my Droid Incredible either, but if I tap on one it switches to Phone with the number already pasted in. Same with an address, a single tap asks me if I want to launch Maps.
