So, 3 days with 1650+ rating and 3 days with 1500 rating nets you iron league... And I bet my doubles will be iron as well because having most games not make it to 10 before the other team quits out nets like a 1200 rating per game. Wow, this system is stupid. Won 4 doubles games last night with a friend and died once out of all 4.

I thought you rating has nothing to do with if you win?

The rating you receive is for determining the player rank in the game and your own record keeping purposes. It still uses the Trueskill system but modified. Instead of the winning team gaining Trueskill points, it now ranks each player 1-8 depending how well they did that game, 1-4 gains Trueskill points (#1 gaining the most) while 5-8 loses Trueskill points. It doesn't matter if you did 1900 or 1550, if you are #1, you gain the same amount of Trueskill points.

The three game average from your best games each day is just for record keeping. Your position and division takes in all the games you've played.

There is a multiplier that affects your score if you lose, so you won't gain as much if you win. But it isn't that large where it punishes a good player that happens to be stuck on a bad team. Deaths also decreases your score but not as much as it should, in my opinion. Someone going -3 should not get more points for someone going +8, Rambo'ing should not be rewarded, hopefully they change that soon.

That doesn't add up because Bungie stated the system was not based around winning or losing. The fact that 5-8 in a 4 person game will be the losing team. Unless it goes by the Bungie rating, which in any case I am almost never in the bottom half. The fact that one a couple days I only played 3-4 games and didn't average the high scoring I did on the days I played well, leads me to believe the system is flawed. The two guys I usually play with (and consistently do better than) got put in Gold division... It has to amass from the times I played without them and lost some rating somehow for doing poorly.

The fact that the rating system is flawed was what I was trying to point out in my dominating wins. The ratings are relative to the other players, and to the game. Going 9-0 in a game nets you far less rating than going 20-25, which is stupid.

The point of the best "set" tracking was to determine your division IIRC on the Bungie site. I can't check at work, but I will be looking into it. The fact most frustrating thing is, despite being better than those I play with, I get placed in a lower division. Now, will I face against only people in my division now? Because if so, I will dominate. The doubles rating crap is even more frustrating because it is impossible to achieve a high rating when the other team quits out 3-4 minutes into the match. I have played maybe 10 doubles games, and finished maybe 4 to the full 25 kills, two of which are my only two doubles losses.

That isn't true, I've gotten 2nd, 3rd, 4th when my team lost because I did well but not well enough to carry the entire team.

Did they play more games than you while you didn't play?

This I agree with. They need to increase the negative modifier for deaths.

Now, will I face against only people in my division now? Because if so, I will dominate.

Dominate enough times and you will move up to the higher divisions, the divisions are not set in stone. They're just tiered, sort of like 20's, 30's, 40's in Halo 3. At the end of the season, it will show you what percentile you are within your division. So if you are the top 5% of Onyx, you are gifted or need to see the sun more. :)

I play doubles because a friend and I had a 50 in doubles in Halo 3 and a 46 in Halo 2. Winning many local tournaments together also helps add in our willingness to play 2v2. Also, way before Reach, you weren't penalized because the other team quit. You got a win and ranked up.

As far as brackets, we'll see what happens when I dominate the Iron scrubs. Hopefully, I can move up or whatever. I really want to get out of the "terribad, no mic" division... Who plays a team game without a mic?

Hey now...I'm going to be one of these "iron scrubs" you just defaced. Just because I'm not as good at the game doesn't mean I play it with less effort.

And all my teammates use mics.

So your frustrated you can't use people quitting games to artificially boost your rank?

Actually I'm with him. Played a team doubles with my buddy and we were winning something like 20-3 and the other team quit. Why should I be penalized for the other team quitting?

Man I need to find some more Halo friends. I hate playing with Randoms. It pretty much ruins the enjoyment of the game for me. Kabob, how many regulars do you have on your list that you play with? Seems like you've always got a crew to game with.

Clearly, being better than the other team so much they can't even stand a chance is grounds enough to be punished.

Finally beat it last night, or the night before now I guess. Turns out I wasn't nearly as stuck as I thought I was.

Legendary is much more difficult than Heroic it seems to me. I played through the first mission and part of the second on Heroic and it was a good bit easier, you could run and gun much more than on Legendary, and so it regained some of the chaos that I liked about the first game on Legendary.

My buddy and I built our first map ever last night. Cooperative forging is amazing! Who knew it could be this fun? It can be best described as virtual legos but 10000x better.

Its a pretty decent sized map perfect for teams of 4-6 slayer games for right now. We haven't tweaked it for object games yet. It isn't a symmetrical map but we sought to make it as balanced as possible with the larger heavy building structures in each corner. A Fairly open middle ground. A hovering pit that serves as a high traffic intersection battle ground(think the top middle ground of guardian map). There are least 3 levels of vertical play so its a lot of fun with jet packs but even without there are plenty of man cannons, teleports, and grav lifts that make it easy for anyone to traverse the fairly large map both vertically and laterally rather quickly. There are a few vehicles and an assortment of weaponry as well. Some nice long lines of sight for snipers(though plenty of vulnerability as well to discourage camping. Close quarters areas for shotguns and other close combat. I am looking for some players to run some custom games on it probably this weekend sometime to give us some more feed back.

let me know if interested.

Well, we were glad to have ya for the short time we did. Thanks for helping me get my assists challenge! :p It was pretty funny, I'd shoot an enemy several times and then start yelling "someone else shoot him!" Took me 3 freaking games to get the last 4 assists!

Clearly, being better than the other team so much they can't even stand a chance is grounds enough to be punished.

No doubt. You'd think that Bungie would be able to differentiate between people who join and leave instantly so that their competitiors scores are boosted vs. people who leave because they're being dominated.

If I'm not playing arena you're always welcome to join in with the AVS crew. Joph's played with us a good bit, lots of fun, very laid back group.

BTW, today's challenges are worth quite a few points (4800 total to be exact) and they aren't terribly hard to get. I played for maybe 40 mins this morning and got all but one of the small ones (400 point).

I'm usually on with a few friends that I've played with for years. Feel free to join us or invite if you see me and need teammates.
