Wow, gotta love those times when you play some team slayer by yourself, and you end up playing with 3 other guys and go on a winning rampage. I thought I'd play some team slayer before I went to bed tonight, and was matched into a team with 3 other random guys. We won that game pretty handily, so we all teamed up. Over the next 11 matches we played together in an hour and a half's time, we won 10 of those. The only one we lost, we lost by 2.....and we ended up playing against the same exact team the next round, and we won that one by 3, so we redeemed ourselves 🙂.

Awesome night for some Halo gaming . In that span of games, I moved my rank from 16 to 20, and I'm very close to getting my first sliver EXP medal. I would've had it a long time ago had I played anything but custom games in the past 2 weeks.

And I had probably the opposite experience of you on Saturday night blurred. I think it was my first or second game I get teamed up with some douche named Killer Creel. Not only does he decide to be as vulgar and insulting to everyone as possible, he also decides to go around and shoot his teammates shields down (but not kill them) so that the other team can kill everyone easily. I ended up muting him but it was hard to avoid his special blend of douche-baggery. We ended up losing 50-45.

The rest of the night was spent trying to keep my skill level at 14-15 as when I was teamed up with some good players, they didn't want to carry it past that game.

I played for about a day straight one time and got from skill up from about 25 to 41 in doubles with another guy. It's also interesting that you level sometimes goes up by two if you win. Only lucky day I've had in Halo 3.

Wow, High Ground, Narrows, The Pit, and one game on Snowbound. They need to make more maps.

I don't think Isolation deserves all of the hate it gets though. Everyone always vetoes it, but I have a better K/D ratio there than on most maps.

Ya, Isolation was vetoed twice in that span, that's why we never played there. I've noticed as well that everyone seems to hate it, but I love Isolation, I think it's a nice little map. People always yell veto when that map comes up.

I have no qualms with the map selection in Halo 3, though. I actually like/love every map except Sandtrap, and I only ever play that one when I'm doing custom games (I've yet to play any BTB). Each map definitely has different styles of play available in each one, so it still feels varied enough for me.

Yeah, I think Team Slayer has actually been improved since the addition of Guardian to the rotation. I'd like to see Last Stand more often though even though it is probably better suited for BTB.

It would be great if they redid some of the Halo 1 & 2 maps for Halo 3.

Map Pack drops on Dec 11, 800 pts which sucks, but I'll buy it because I love.
Available for 800 Microsoft Points exclusively on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, each map presents a totally different play style. Standoff?s symmetrical valley, with its entrenched bases and fields of boulders is ideal for mid-sized objective and Slayer game types, while Rat?s Nest?s vast, labyrinthine passages bring something new to the ?Halo? multiplayer experience: an indoor vehicle paradise, strongly influenced by the Campaign mode, ideal for big team battles. Finally, Foundry is the ultimate Forge map ? players can edit every single object in this voluminous industrial warehouse, place stairways, walls, bridges and tunnels to create an entirely new play space and build almost any kind of map they can think of.

Ooops, sorry:

It's expensive, but the maps seem good.

Still, this kind of nickel and diming on top of our existing xbox live subscription seems ridiculous. It's kind of absurd that mod teams make entire total conversions on the pc and they cost nothing. Here MS wants to milk $10 bucks out of every Halo 3 player. I'll pay for them only because I love the game and the maps are good, but that doesn't make this any more acceptable.

As much as I love my 360, MS is run by assholes. Case in point - $100-180 hard drive upgrades. Sony lets you upgrade the hard drive yourself with any SATA drive. Or MS's play & charge kit instead of a standard USB cable. They'll screw you any way they can with their proprietary crap.

Eh, they gotta make some back somehow. They can charge us extra for accessories, or they can charge us $100 extra for the console. It's just how the business is. Sony had an extra year to see what Microsoft was doing and how customers reacted to it, so I don't place all the blame on Microsoft based on what Sony has done.

The map pack can be had for free later in the spring of 2008. So if you can wait the extra few months, you can get them for nothing like the GoW and R6:V map packs (which became free sometime after its original release).

From IGN:
November 19, 2007 - Today Microsoft announced it is prepping three new multiplayer maps for Halo 3. Titled the Heroic Map Pack, the maps will initially set you back 800 Microsoft Points ($10) but will be made available for free in spring 2008.

Standoff - This "symmetrical valley, with its entrenched bases and fields of boulders, is ideal for mid-sized objective and Slayer game types."

Rat's Nest - These "vast, labyrinthine passages bring something new to the Halo multiplayer experience: an indoor vehicle paradise, strongly influenced by the Campaign mode, ideal for big team battles."

Foundry - "The ultimate Forge map -- players can edit every single object in this voluminous industrial warehouse, place stairways, walls, bridges and tunnels to create an entirely new play space and build almost any kind of map they can think of."

Matchmaking is retarded later. I'm so tired of playing with shitty players too. Cant get past 34 on doubles (5 straight game quits) and to slow to find any other game. I'm ready to smash something with a hammer.

Screw me, -13 on team slayer my teamate goes. What the hell. If you go -13 your rank should drop dramaticly. Obviously he doesn't even deserve his 20.

everyone has bad games man.

I'll find out on the 19th if it's really my internet connection holding me back. I have 1.5 meg dsl now an always experience weird shit when I play. It's less though at night since all traffic is faster. But against top players I NEVER win a tie on a beat down. I usually see myself hit the other player, they show they get hit, I hear the noise, and then I'm somehow dead instead of them. I'm a 45 in slayer, so it's not me. I also have plasma grenades to through enemies, I have sword swings hit and do nothing. It's fucking annoying.

But on the 19th, I get 6 meg dsl, so we'll see. If it still acts gay then I'll retire from Halo.

Edit - And I'll smash my game disc into tiny pieces because it's really fucking annoying at the moment.

Breathe, relax, its just a game. 🙂
If it frustrates you so much, there are some other great MP titles out now that you could try (like Paradise)

lol. Well...I've been stuck at 32 forever. I experience the things you describe as well but I don't think its network related as I have comcast cable with the added "speed boost" . Yesterday I hit a guy with the grav hammer 3 times. He didn't die. I did. Amazing!
