Internet is listed under system requirments. Hey, plenty of people don't have systems that can run it. Poor graphics cards, cpus, etc. These people want to play as well. It's a requirement, simple as that. It's kept it off warez until the release. Probably the only way to do that now days.

Discuss!

I think they might too. I bet vivendi is making them wait on a certain number of retail sales or something. It is out everywhere in retail so they might aswell.... Its not a big deal though Tuesday is comming up fast. I hope they release it at 12AM EST that day hehe.
Wonder if it'll be simultaneously released (authenticate) all over the world @ the same time or 12 AM on the 16th respectively depending on location around the world.

I think it was going to be 12am pacific time for the whole world.

I could also see them jumping the gun. I mean so many copies have already been sold...

The fact that he publically lists his phone number really sends a message to all the fans saying that hes really looking out for them [the fans]. And I guess he understands that people are going to call him and ask him stuff like this. I wonder how full his answering machine gets. He really is a great guy.

Just ordered the Bronze version. I've read DOD:S was gonna look exactly like DOD right now, but uses the source engine. So, it's gonna have Source physics, but no Source Icandy.

From what I remember looking at Bronze was 50 bucks, Silver was 70 bucks and Gold was 90 bucks.

Gold: I don't want no postcards
Silver: DOD not worth it right now and I don't need a shirt
Bronze: kick ass.

you heard wrong. silver was 60 when i bought it. dod is NOT gonna look exactly like dod, in fact its not even launching w/ hl2 because they are still working on it. silver also gets you condition zero + deleted scenes, hl1 (if you dont have it) and valve's other games.

Have you found some missions in CS: Condition Zero on Hard Diffulty to be impossible? Chateau has had be beat for nearly 2 weeks now. I've been so far as having the 9 kills, and my team is ahead by more than 2 rounds, but then you have to kill 3 people with the para without dying. I just can't do it. Playing CS: Condition Zero so much on hard difficulty has made me quite a beast at CS: Source. I'm at the top of every server. :D

i never played through much of cz, it was waaaaay too boring for me. same thing over and over with a different gun.

 Agreed.

So now that we are close as hell, can we start at midnight, Monday night? Anyone know the actual time the game will be released?

Christ, he seems like such a nice guy. I wish peeps would leave him alone.

that's what he gets for leaving his number listed and encouraging open communication. there are just way too many immature kiddies out there that will exploit his niceness.

That one sounded like a fully-grown immature kiddie ;)

Forgive me if this has already been covered but according to what I read on the Steam forums, selling a Steam account is against the EULA. Since the copy you buy (retail or download) is linked to that account it would seem to suggest no selling your copy of HL2 after you are done with it.

Normally when I am done playing the single user portion of the game, I will sell the game thus reducing my cost. A lot of others seem to do this as well. I have already purchased HL2 but if this is the future it will significantly affect my buying habbits.

Don't get me wrong, I certainly see the advantages of using something like Steam to distribute software, at least from the developers point of view. However, from the consumers point of view there seems to be some real disadvantages.

Right-click on the steam icon in the systray -> Monitor

thanks! I'm new to this whole steam thing, I feel like a caveman trying to rub two sticks together. 1.2 Mb/sec is all right.

At least 3 Micro Center stores are having a midnight sale. Price will be $39.99 Standard and $79.99 Collectors Edition. I believe the flyer mentioned somewhere in VA, Dallas, and somewhere in OH.

nowhere in UK seems to be considering selling anything but the bog standard HL2+CS package.

bit of a pisser since steam isnt an option here (exchange gets dsl in ~2 weeks), i think i'd quite like DoD and HL1 with updated graphics would be worth paying a few extra quid for.

assuming they release a no-auth patch in say 3-6 months or something, and they dont bother with the usual retarded copy protection, the whole authenticate thing and worldwide simultaneous-to-the-second release seems a great idea.

/will be regretting saying that when steam falls over on tuesday or it starts refusing my isp's proxy or something.
