Nvidia would have had more of a winner on there hands if this card could do TRI.

This leaves me to speculate. How much longer till the 595 get released

Waaaaaaa the chips are binned, waaaaaa it uses 10 more watts, waaaaa the review is bad, waaaaa it cost 13$ more.

Pleeeease, the gtx560 SOC is a excellent value with performance up to a gtx570, runs cool, runs quiet even when overclocked, is power efficient, will overclock well beyond 1000 core, and cost 13$ more then a 6950 1gb.

Those are the facts and if the 6950 does not get a price drop soon it will be a exspensive fact for AMD and there market share.

I've proved every single one of your points false. Instead of owning up, you go and act like a child? I don't care about AMD's market share, I don't care how much AMD make.

What I do care about is people coming here and spouting false info like you just did. You say its better in every category I show you they are equal and all you can do is throw some tantrum?

This isn't the place for that kind of thing. You need to get a grip.

It isnt power efficient, a 570 and 6970 use less power and are faster. Its not quiet, a 6950 is quieter and just as fast. It also won't overclock "well beyond" 1ghz.

The GTX 560-OC is a good card.

Thats the only thing you have said positive about a great card and a good release.
Seems funny ha?

Thats how we differ. the 6950 is a good card with good thermals, noise, price, performance.ect ect.

The gtx560 SOC is just a much better value and has all the good things the 6950 has to offer also, and, it's faster for only 13$ less.

Get off the bandwagon and get on the price/performance wagon. :) You can do it .I know you can.

I think you are right. It's performance scaling isn't as impressive as the GTX 460's and HD 6950's.

It seems like once it's over 900+mhz it doesn't get much faster.

That's why the SOC isn't much faster than a stock 6950 at higher AA settings. Actualy, its slower in some cases.

Skurge, pa-lease. It is kinda reversed, although your tantrum was more refined and gentlemenly. LMAO.!!!

Just chill, the both of you. Please.

List the things I said that were false and I will own up to them or explain them for you.

Are you tolling now?

"My point was you can max both the 6950 and gtx560 's clocks and the gtx560 will come out ahead in every category, price ,performance, noise, temps."

OC - The 6950 at 1070mhz is faster than a 560 at 1070mhz. 6950 wins

Price - 6950 is faster than a stock 560, but costs more. 560SOC is faster than a stock 6950, but cost more. Equal

Performance - 6950 is faster. 6950 Wins

Noise - 6950 is quieter than SOC. Louder than stock 560. Equal

Temps - 6950 runs hotter, but has a lower TDP and expels air out the back. Equal

Its a dead heat between the two.

Own up or explain.

What are you guys arguing about? It looks like a wash to me lol.

EDIT: Come on guys, the GTX 560 Ti is a little slower so it's priced a little less, the 6950 1 GB is priced higher because it's slightly faster. It's a classic wash in performance/price - pick your color and roll with it

Don't quote me out of context. I want you to counter my points. Wait, no I don't because you can't. I've clearly shown the 560 is not better in ever regard. Also saying it was a good card was the very first thing I posted...

Here is the facts:

The Gigabyte 560 is a bit slower than a 6970 and GTX 570. But it's cheaper.
The Gigabyte 560 is a bit faster than a 6950. And it's more expensive.

"Better value" is subjective here. Out of the box they are both good values. But the simple fact that it's faster and also costs more is nothing mind-blowing. This is exactly what we should expect.

The entire value argument changes if we consider overclocking and performance. The Gigabyte 560 is already pretty close to it's overclock, but the 6950 at stock has more headroom. And as I've already shown, your argument about the 560 needing less power when overclocked is not really true. But let's just ignore power consumption. When both are overclocked over 1 GHz they should be pretty close, with the 6950 having the slight edge:

6950 @ 945 MHz:
perf_oc.gif

560 @ 943 MHz:
perf_oc.gif

So a 6950 can end up faster, cheaper, and use less power? WOWZERS!***

***Your mileage will vary on any overclock.

Agreed, the 6950 1GB and 560 are both fantastic cards, overclocked they are giving what is very much GTX 480 performance for $250. Meaning for $250 you are getting cards that are only about 20% slower at average resolutions than the $500 GTX 580.

Buy whatever brand you prefer, if you don't have a case window and didn't check system info you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a system running either card

Talk about win/win. We could be seeing ~$200 variants of these cards within weeks. Thank GOD for good competition. If the GTX560 had merely been a 6870 competitor like many thought not that long ago, this would be a very different situation.

That doesn't contradict anything Skurge said.

And look at the 6870 Black Edition (an overclock any 6870 should achieve) is ahead of the 560 Ti in their index, and it's quieter.

Now that's impressive performance from a 255mm^ chip.

Well said, just like I said before. At stock speeds, GTX 560 wouldn't even outperform the HD 5870. The GTX 560 OC barely beats the HD 6950 at stock. So if its priced well, nVidia might have a winner. Seems that competition is getting more interesting with the GTX 560 launch, we shall see how much pressure will do AMD with the HD 6950 1GB launch.

I noticed the same performance behavior of the GTX 560 as with the GTX 460. Both having some superscalar elements in the architecture makes them inconsistent in many scenarios, hence explains why the GTX 560 OC rivals the GTX 470 stock, but not all the time, while a heavily overclocked GTX 570 can rival the GTX 580 consistently with linear performance scaling gains.

OC - The 6950 at 1070mhz is faster than a 560 at 1070mhz. 6950 wins

Show me the money? And when you show me the benches, I bet the gtx560 is cooler, quieter, uses less power, and is cheaper. And make sure the memory on the gtx560 is overclocked also.

Price - 6950 is faster than a stock 560, but costs more. 560SOC is faster than a stock 6950, but cost more. Equal

Yes the stock gtx560 cost less and is slower then the 6950, I agree. even.
But the performance difference from the gtx560 SOC series to the stock 6950 for 13$ extra dollars is a win for the gtx560.

Performance - 6950 is faster. 6950 Wins
The stock gtx560 cost 18$ less and is slower.but the gtx560 SOC is faster and only cost 13$ more. gtx560 wins by 5$.

Noise - 6950 is quieter than SOC. Louder than stock 560. Equal

Close and its good enough for both cards but the gtx560 wins

Temps - 6950 runs hotter, but has a lower TDP and expels air out the back. Equal
Bull the gtx runs cooler, win gtx560

Happy?

Buy stock 560 overclock yourself and save $25. Win for stock 560.

Buy 6950 and overclock yourself and save $13. Win for 6950.

Bull the gtx runs cooler, win gtx560

LOLOLOL; it's a trade-off.

Temps - 6950 runs hotter, but has a lower TDP and expels air out the back. Equal

I agree with everything but this.

The Gigabyte gtx560 overclocked to 1044 core on "STOCK VOLTAGE".
Now try that with a 6950. If you did,you would have to raise the voltage and you know what would happen then?
It would get louder then the gtx560, it would consume more power then the gtx560, it would run hotter then the gtx560 , and would perform about the same, for 13$ less.

Agreed?

No I don't agree. HAVE YOU NOT READ ANY OF THE OTHER POSTS I MADE? If you compare the typical 560 to the typical 6950... the 560 will use more power when overclocked.

However there isn't much data concerning the Gigabyte overclocked and how it reacts to voltage increase and overclocking. The Gigabyte is cherry picked, as such we simply don't know how it will react because no tests have been done, and it may even be using a higher voltage than reference 560s:
http://techreport.com/articles.x/20293/3
Like most of these card makers, Gigabyte cites several factors that purportedly contribute to its product's superiority over the average reference design. Those include higher-quality components, rigorous testing of chips during their sorting into different speed grades, a custom board design (9.5" long, or half an inch beyond the reference card), and a bitchin' cooler with quad heatpipes and dual fans.

However even at Gigabyte's stock speed, it performs worse than a 570 and uses more power, according to TechReport. If you overclock it will use even more power. If you overvolt it will use even more power. HOWEVER, we can't determine how it performs relative to a 6950 because Techreport did not overclock/overvolt their card.

There simply isn't enough evidence to backup your claim here. There's actually more evidence suggesting the opposite. As I've provided overclocking data from TPU for a 6950 and a 560, and the 560 has worse characteristics.

I can only agree that it will run cooler and quieter than a reference 6950, but a non-reference 6950 is another story. Now if you only quote this last sentence I will hunt you down and kill you, in Bad Company 2. Or TF2.
