kind of off topic but i have questions about steering wheels. Last time i ever used a steering wheel was back in the PS2 days w/ GT3 i believe. every steering wheel i've used, including games at the arcade would only turn 90 degrees left and 90 degrees right. it really didnt feel like i was "driving a real car" so to say.

I am hopefully assuming that steering wheels nowadays virtually replicate the full movement that a car steering wheel has? such as the latest logitech G27 steering wheel?

my biggest turn off to realistic driving simulators was the steering wheel thing, so i always just tended to play arcadey games like NFS underground w/ my keyboard and skip the realness or driving sim genre altogether. I hope things are different now, are they?

Will the CE be available for a while, like DR2 (for instance), or is this the only supply? Don't want to get the game until I throw down the cash for the G27, but also want the CE...

I don't understand why you're calling it a "launch title". Do you even know anything about the game?

i think he's referring to the fact that the game was shown before the PS3 launched. The rumour was it was going to release in the early PS3 launch frame but that changed obviously.

perhaps his post is akin to something like someone not wanting to play Duke nukem forever cause they lost interest in it long ago?

Pretty much all modern non-bargain-basement wheels sport 900° rotation. This includes the DFGT, G25, and G27.

And, I think you can change it in-game, at least with GT iirc - but can't remember, I've only been playing PC racing titles for a awhile now, and I just use the Logitech profile manager to have a specific turn radius for each title. I rarely have it over 500, because tight turns with overlapping hands is a bitch.

That's exactly what I'm referring to, but it's not that I've lost interest in it, just that I have no intention on giving anyone money for a product that was announced, then delayed 4 years. If I ever feel the need to buy it, I'll get it second hand so that my money ends up in the hands of the buyer not the production company.

It was not delayed 4 years.

It was never once stated to be a launch title - they merely showed their work they had completed before the system even launched.

They are a fairly small team and it's the only game they do, it's only been delayed about one or two years at most, and that's because they've gone back and decided they wanted to add more features.

Personally, the amount of time they invest in the series is something that makes me instantly want the game.

At system launch, it was merely a "we'll release this when we're done - don't expect it any time soon."

They may have told the press certain time-frame goals, but there had never been an official release date until about a year and a half ago iirc.

Your logic makes absolutely no sense to me. Even if you were right about GT5 originally being a launch title (which it wasn't, you're way off on that), your logic is still absurd.

LOL @ people holding a grudge because of the delay. Way to take a stand, now go out there and do something more useful, like run for cancer or something.

Actually, at system launch there was no mention of GT5, only the GTHD concept that supposedly would've sold the base code for very cheap (or even free) and then have users purchase cars and tracks through DLC. I guess it was modeled after games that are nowadays called "freemium" games.

Here's the wikipedia page about it:

According to that, it was scrapped right around the NA launch of the PS3, so I was little bit off on that (I thought it was well into 2007), but GT5 was NEVER meant to be a launch title. They had only just started making it the focus of their development at the time, which means it was still in the beginning stages.

Fair enough, I didn't realise that, none-the-less, The whole announcing a date, then delaying the game, then announcing another date then changing their mind has pissed me off, I'm not giving them money for all that, they should just wait until it's ready to announce the date. It's an poor business strategy and rather un-professional. Chuck in the fact that I don't really rate the series anyway, I think the games are too realistic, I'll just skip.

Right, no companies ever have to push back dates.
