I LOVED the first GoW but was horribly let down by the second (mixture of a crappy story and horribly buggy online). I hope this game is more like the first, but we'll see.

I have some high hopes for the story since Karen Traviss is writing it. She did a good job on the Gears books, IMO.

Based on previous comment from Cliff B and others, it sounds like they are moving towards Gears 1 style of play. Addition of beta plus dedicated servers should make it better.

I rented Gears 2 with the intent to purchase on the following paycheck. But I was so disgusted by the online play that I didn't get it. I'm really hoping they get it right this time though.
 
GoW 2 was one of my most anticipated games in a LONG time and I was so disgusted I sold it in about a month...so sad it was. I spent tons of time playing MP on the first game, but seriously, 90&#37; of the online games on Gears 2 was spent stuck in lag.
 
Bulletstorm is on sale for $40 today at amazon.com. Is the beta invitation for Gamestop copies only or for all Bulletstorm copies?
 
Gears 2 >> Gears 1 at least for the SP campaign. Better graphics, more action, less stupid boss battles for the sake of having boss battles.....
 
I don't play online and GOW2 was one of those games that I really got into the story. I don't think it had enough variations of weapons (which is why I love Borderlands) but the story was great and I need 2 player split screen games. I'm really looking forward to GOW3 assuming they will have 2 player split screen campaign.

Local split-screen is confirmed. Won't be in the beta though.

Yeah, and they took the biggest, baddest, most "oh crap, run for your life" bad guy in GoW 1 and turned it into a wuss. Seriously, how many Brumaks do you kill in GoW 2? You kill them in droves like it's nothing. And then to cap it off you realize it's just a mindless cow and you get to ride one yourself.

Epic fail...
 
Alright, I've voiced my opinions on the game enough times already and I'm hoping that Epic learned their lesson and has "fixed" Gears 3. On Saturday I went ahead and swung by Gamestop to pre-order so I could get into the beta. I'll probably cancel it either way, if it sucks I won't buy it, if it's good I'll get it from Amazon. I hate that the beta is a Gamestop exclusive though.

Who else is beta-ing it?
 
one of my buddies has a friend at Epic and is already in the beta. he said it is more of the same and was touting about some "anti-camper" weapon that seemed to be pretty cool.

That would be the "Digger Launcher".

Gears3&


It basically burrows underground like Bugs Bunny and will explode on the other side of cover. So you'll have the opportunity to kill your opponent with the Digger or with your gun as he leaves cover to flee the Digger.

The Digger can be stopped though by shooting at it as it burrows. But again, that leaves you exposed.

yea i didn't wanna spoil it but now that you did i'll talk a little bit more about it 😛

he said it is a pretty cool weapon and called it Tremors heh. that sounds exactly like what you were explaining too. i will say though, camping was never an issue in the Gears series to me most of the time, but this weapon seems to be more than for campers since it can get anyone behind any cover.

wonder how it works on ground that is not even.

I just finished Bulletstorm, not too bad of a game. I'll see you guys online for the GOW 3 beta.
