Might have just been my imagination then. I run 5760 x 1080 on 2 x 7970, so that could easily be the cause as well.
ps: ultima is fun. Notes: diffusion laser hits like a mountain buster and should be treated as such.
Garuda extreme is pretty technical but not too hard. Ultima is definitely much harder in both mechanics and forgiveness though. It's going to be the next fight that everyone bitches about.
I'm addicted to the pvp even though it is small arena style match.
There are some gripes to it I'll share.
1. Wait time... 90 seconds to start? WAYYY to long.
2. Either completely obscure the other team or make it transparent. Completely obscuring the team makes it harder to determine a strategy but some teams obscure themselves while others don't.
3. NAMES, fresh meat is stupid considering you can see the name/server of everyone after the match is over. This makes it easier to call out, focus BLAH while stunlocking BLOO instead of relying on target markers.
Also, if you guys haven't, HQ 55 wolf pieces are better than iLVL 70 PVE pieces. Morale is like a huge determination boost. Increases damage/defense/healing against players.
Also, crystal tower is WAYY to easy to be an iLVL 80 instance. The scenery and the content is amazing and brings back some awesome memories of FF3 but... it is just too easy.
Haven't unlocked King Moogle, still going through step 34234234 out of a billion to do so. Haven't stepped foot in Ultima, I'll be doing that with my FC tonight. Got Garuda EM after our 3rd try figuring her out, it was about the same difficulty as Titan HM except it is a little harder on the healers. Dropped the vortex ring of fending, iLVL 90.
Done all the HM dungeons, although some dungeons I don't agree with the average iLVL requirements, for example Haukke is hard to do with average iLVL 58????

1. It's actually 120 seconds! Sometimes this is longer than the match itself...
2. I'm not sure what you mean here. Are you trying to say that people are trying to hide their class? Damn near impossible in this game considering everyone is forced to use specific weapon types.

It's also really silly that you can't talk to your LS or FC when in PvP.

super intensive for healers and hard for DPSes. You need 2 tanks, which further cuts into the DPS. Post heart phase is no joke... the mini-titans (potatoes) are annoying as all hell. My group got past heart phase only 1 time out of a handful of tries.

Ooook, so now that 2.1 has been out for a while, I'm starting to have lots of questions about housing. Does anyone have an FC house yet?
If so, can you please explain about buffs or benefits or pretty much anything at all about the outcomes of the housing stuff?

no buffs yet. Right now the house is just aestetics. On hyperion, the large ones go for like 170m, the medium ones are around 60 something and small ones (size of an inn, 1 floor) is about 17m.
Needless to say there's about a total of 3 houses so far.
There are a few houses on Brynhildr. One of the large plots sold even, though it was (just?) 50 million or so. A pretty expensive useless trophy.
When will buffs be introduced? Or non-aesthetic perks to having a house?

There's other cool things for it slated down the road, like crafting your own airship (dunno what good that does) and stuff like that.
For me to be really interested in housing, I would like to know what those things will be. An airship would be neat, but for what purpose? SO many questions....

I'm sure they'll eventually give bonuses or whatnot. I imagine airship means free travel to cities, which doesn't mean a whole lot (seeing as how it's only 120 gil) but it might be cool to be able to travel to some more expensive places in later expansions for cheaper. Or have crafting bonuses and some such like in FF11. I'm not too terribly anxious about getting a full list of details, yoshi p has been good about the direction the game's heading in.
Small FC house is 4.5m on my server, probably less now. Fair few plots bought. They have some grand plans for the housing in the future, but given that prices will drop by half within 3 months and currently there is no in game benefit, I see no reason to waste money now.
In all reality, the FC housing is a test phase for personal housing, so I would not expect to see any in game benefits until personal housing has been introduced too, as at that point housing costs will likely be reassessed too. I believe airships and also crafting worktops for buffs had been mentioned as possibilities

Well, they are having a free weekend, so I decided to patch it up and log on for the first time in several months.
Alot of positive changes since I last played. Still trying to decide if it's enough to make me want to resubscribe though.
I did try AK for the first time. No positive results to report
Actually, seemed like a pretty good group, breezing through the place...until the first boss. No dps to speak of (and I was one of the 2 dps in the group). The archer/bard and I were having trouble burning down the adds in time to actually do any damage to the actual boss. The big golem was summoned, even then were weren't having any trouble staying alive, and then I suddenly just died. I was positive I was not in the big golem's ae radius...but something just killed me. And then the rest of the group wiped.
Then the tank decided we didn't have enough dps to finish the demon wall, and left, so we disbanded. (I suppose I can't put to much blame on the tank for that either, although a second shot might have yeilded better results...or not).
At first I though the problem was 1. first time I played in months + 2. my weapon being crap. And I'm sure those factored into it....but then I realized what the biggest problem...the archer/bard decided to kite all the adds. Which means my dps is crap on them, because I was having to chase down the adds, and constantly getting out of range.
I really hate grouping with archers. cause this always seems to happen.

you should either be burning boss or burning adds. If you're kiting adds while trying to DPS the boss, you're doing it wrong. If you die on the first boss, chances are you won't make it pass demon wall. That's just how AK is, harsh but true.
Also the GC quest has been moved to AV so there's no reason for you to not have a i55 weapon going into AK, if that's the problem. Also you can PUG ifrit to farm some weapons as well.

Well, was my first time, so I was just doing what the tank told me to, heh.
We were trying to burn adds, but, that turned into the archer kiting, and me trying to chase them down. I've noticed that tends to happen anytime I have an archer in the group with aggro :\ . Which is why I hate grouping with archers.
If I decide to stick around, I'll probably farm Ifrit, then work on the GC, or vice versa. But, just didn't want to bother since for the moment, I only had yesterday and today to play.
eh, on that fight whoever has aggro tanks the add until it gets burned down. Archer should've known that kiting is a terrible idea, unless he was new too. Either way it doesn't look like you'd have made it past demon wall with that guy anyway.
The random loot system is making me a bit tired. I ran 5 CTs the past week and all 5 times it was 90% brd/mnk/drg crap. I eventually greeded on a healer glove that was more or less a side grade just to say I got something that week from CT, when I was really going for blm gear. Not to mention there's been very little tank drops in coil for our team, every time it's melee dps gear or brd gear. Finally saw our first healer robe in like, what, 2 months?
