Go here and at the end of the FAQ is a how to on installing the new Power Now from AMD. Just remember to right-click and select compatibility mode after it is downloaded but before you install.

Well, I downloaded the new PowerNow, installed it in Win2k compatability mode. Did a reboot...........same problem. I set the power to 'Always ON' and verified that PowerNow was running as a service and was started.

I did NOT have a PowerNow setting in the Power Options like the faq indicated. Hmmm.

This is getting a little annoying.

Right click on the desktop-select properties- Screensaver- Power- then you will see the "PowerNow" tab In there is were you change it.

Does anyone know if this 1GB module Transend 1GB PC2700 Sodimm will work in the M6805? I was considering getting this as it seems to be the only reasonably priced 1GB module left around.

I am not sure if that will work or not. Some people have reported compatibility issues with slower ram. If you buy slower than PC3200 there is a chance (the ram you buy) will not OC to PC3200 speeds.

Yep, did that...just no "PowerNow" tab. It installed as I can see in running in "Services".

Uhhhhhh....don't we HAVE PC2700 memory in our notebooks? That's sure what the EMachines website seems to say. I think the guy's question was whether it would fit/work.

All the best,

We do all have 2 x 256mb of Samsung PC 2700 cas 2.5 sodimms in our notebooks atm (factory installed) unless you swaped it out , I just was wondering if this memory is compatible w/ our notebook, I've seen in several threads on Hard OCP and notebook fourms about memory compatibility issues w/ our notebook so was just wondering if anyone had taken the plunge and added a 1gig module to the existing 256mb module. and had it work. various people have put PC3200 memory in our notebook and unless it's cas 2.5 it doesn't work and even if it is PC 3200 It doesn't run at that speed unless you overclock. welp if anyone knows if the 1 GB transend module will work it'd be great, I havent' been able to get a straight answer from E-machines about it.

What I meant to say (it was a long night) was anything faster than PC2700. PC3200 will work but only if using CAS 2.5 and 1 stick (some have gotten two to work but not many including myself). They seem finicky if using two sticks of PC3200. The Transend should work just fine since it is CAS 2.5 and give you a total of 1.2gig.

A lot of people don't like that option, but as the first one to nuke XP in favor of win2K I can tell you that if I had a doubt in the first hours, I would't go back..... With the exception of the boot time, the machine is faster.

Hi all, First if you want to run your AMD64 Cpu Full speed Goto Control Panel

Power Options , open, select Power Schemes, select always on, click apply, then ok.
This should let you run at full speed all the time Desktop Computer, or plugged in ac adapter Notebook. Now to run your Notebook Cpu at full speed without bois update or software, just Hibernate Notebook while plugged in, then just unplug ac adapter from
notebook before you push your power button to resume and you will be running on battery at
full Cpu speed 3200 @ 2000 mhz instead of 800 mhz on battery

The always on setting has worked for me with all AMD cpu's for Notebooks and Desktops other then the
AMD64 mobile, (emachine M6809) my recent notebook, but all mobile AMD64 notebooks will run at full speed
so long as you set it always on and then Hibernate while plugged in. Just Unplug push button and your
Amd64 Notebook will be running at full speed, battery doesn't last as long but for those who need the power
it works.

Man this sounded good...........unfortunately it did NOT work for my M6809. At least not according to CPU-Z. Are you using ALL the stock drivers?

I just recently purchased a M6805 and am really liking it. The one thing I am not too fond of is XP. While it is not that bad I really prefer using Win2K. Can it be installed on this machine without any worries or will I have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get it working?

Thanks.

What about drivers for the various devices. Such as the ATI card. ATI says to get drivers from the manufactures, but eMachine doesn't have anything there. Can I use regular Catalyst drivers or just use the drivers from the restore CD that is came with? Would the same go for the other devices?

Also, my machine gets a bit hot on the bottom of the machine. The fan rarely kicks on, but I am a bit worried about the heat. Has anyone used some of those coolers that sit under the machine and help exhaust the heat?

Thanks for all the help.

First a question then an answer. What type of Batt life are yall gettin on the 6807-09 series? and to answer Visi quesion. The heat is prob ur memory. It gets nice n toasty when really workn. You should be able to use anydrivers you like, catalyst or restore CD.

Visigoth just go to www.omegacorner.com . They have the Omega modded catalyst drivers which support the Mobility Radeon 9600. The standard drivers don't. The Omega drivers work just fine. Battery like for the M680x series for me has been about 2 hours and 10-20 minutes. I haven't tried to max out battery life or anything (i.e. turn down brightness) but when I'm typing or just looking at pictures that's about how long it is.
