WHOOSH!

You didn't get my vowel joke to Mxylplyx and just repeated it like a braying donkey or the short bus boy from third grade, 'ya big stupe . . . you really aren't very bright.

Christ, the democrats just pulled an amazing victory out and you can't even enjoy it without being an asshat. It's time to start looking on the bright side of life Perk

Oh, I'm quite happy and contented, thank-you very much, even though stupid people and trolls trying to down this historic moment in our nation's history do annoy me.

And, fyi, I'm not a Democrat. 😉

You're just as guilty then by spouting insults. For what it's worth, I had no intentions of "ruining the moment" for anyone. I didn't say a bad thing about Obama or the election. I have pointed out a few things that were incorrectly said, but that's something that I can't refrain from.

I am still waiting to hear about how horrible the stock market has done in the last week, or have you used up all of your cleverness.

If you want to refrain from "ruining the moment" further I'll be happy to switch over to pm's. Who knows, maybe you were being sarcastic? My voice is neutral, and I harbor no ill will. I just think that insults are petty, and I'm just as guilty but trying hard to avoid them.

Exit polls show Prop 8 failing in CA.

I hope to God it fails, but CNN just showed it up by (I think) 8 points. Only consolation is that only 11% of the vote was in.

How can people be so mean spirited?

No matter how evolved people think humans are, they are still herd animals.
They always follow the pack.

NC has a female governor now? easley is out?

Yeah we got Bev Purdue.
I didn't like her but I guess others did.
She talked a lot about what people wanted to hear, not really what her record showed.

I found it interesting that the counties with large populations/large cities went with McCain.

Huh?? What the heck are you talking about? Raleigh, Durham, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Charlotte (and the respective counties) -- All Obama by a LANDSLIDE:

In the popular vote its at 53million Obama, 49 million McCain, still not that far apart.

That's a fair amount and will trend higher before all the votes are counted. We are a pretty centrist nation, it takes some pretty big historical forces to tip our electoral scales dramatically.

This inherent "conservatism" has been a source both of some mediocrity but also our enduring stability.

We did well. I am proud of my country, proud of Barack Obama, and proud of the class and dignity with which that old warrior, John McCain, graciously passed the torch!

I'm not talking about the overall state. I'm talking about counties and cities around me.

Good, having McCain as President would have been unfortunate, having his whack job running mate a heartbeat away from the Oval Office would have been unacceptable.

I was just going by your bolded statement -- the only truly big/populous cities in the state (with the exception of maybe Wilmington) are listed in my post.

No, you were just looking for something to make a post about.

Just drop it, there was clearly a misunderstanding. Cook county had about 1.9 million voters, and it was 76% for Obama. This is is what most of us think when you say high populated counties.

Prop 8 is currently up by 6 points with 26% reporting. However, there are still a lot of bay area ballots to be counted. My gut is that it passes, but it's going to be close. I hope it fails though.
