I am so lost in this game. I wish there was an internal journal to show you questlines and/or optional questlines. Killed a few bosses but don't know what impact it has on the game. :)

Part of the reason I keep playing it. If I stop and come back in a month, I most likely won't pick it up again because I'll have no idea what I should be doing. At least by trying to play a bit each weekend, I can keep myself in check. The walkthrough episodes also help with this if I can t get to it in a week or so.

So I looked into it, and you can get a Somber Dragon stone from Mohgwyn Palace, which you can get to early by doing the quest line of the guy you meet at the first grace in the open world.
Hate that you can't do this questline without having PS+ on PS5. Really stupid that they tied a campaign questline to a paywall for some people.

I like the fact that they don't do that more than every other open world game that just has a map with a bunch of dots you just go back/forth from.

Also not sure if you knew this or not, but some of the graces (on the map) have a little line going out from them and pointing in a direction. That is the direction you are supposed to go from that grace to progress.

I used to subscribe to PS+ back on my PS3. They announced it would be required for online play for the PS4 and I stopped subscribing and never went back, because I hate that shit.

I'd gladly pay for it if there was just 1 game I wanted to play online but there isn't. I have no desire to play this game online with people. I probably won't get PS+ until Street Fighter 6 comes out or the next Hot Shots Golf.

Yeah, when I think of the PS games I play, it's all their epic exclusive single player games (though as a PC gamer, I do like the fact that they're starting to bring more of their exclusives to PC. Yes, please!).

You can still get in to the Mohgwyn Palace area. I think the warp spot is in the Mountaintops of the Giants area.

Yeah I finished the whole area yesterday. Still stupid that you can't finish a quest because it's locked behind a paywall.

If there is one thing I hate in FromSoft games, it's when they put platforming in. Annoying trying to jump to a long sequence of platforms when trying to meet the Three Fingers to get frenzied, lost 800k runes on that stupid section.

I'm getting close to the end of Elden Ring.

I passed the Fire Giant last night and onto what I believe is the last area. Played it for like an hour or so after I beat that area. It's crazy how little runes you get for bosses like the Fire Giant compared to the optional tougher bosses like Melania and Mohg.

My blasphemous blade was doing such little damage to him. Same with my sword of night and flame. I was using magic attacks with both to try and keep a distance and just not working at all. So I tried my blood katana and that thing completely whooped him. Took me one try with myself and my mimic having it.

I also found yet more areas I hadn't seen yet when looking closer at the map and seeing some structures in Caelid and the peninsula that I had yet to get into so I went and found some more things to do.

I'm at 134 hours and I think level 174.

Especially when trying to fall down to the next platform and your momentum carries you farther than just jumping.

Were you hitting him in his weak foot? He has huge damage reduction elsewhere.

Also, I'm surprised by how many hours people can put into this. I beat the game at level 146 with only 62 hours into the game and that's with zero farming. I made it to all the optional areas but I know I missed some dungeons and open world bosses. Which is OK because it'll leave some to be seen when I play it again next year. But I just don't know how people can put in 120+ hours into a single player play through. It has to feel like easy mode by then or maybe I'm missing something? I could see it if you're doing PvP though.

Just finished beating Renala. Been leveling up and wondering the world a lot before doing main objectives. Found so much stuff, caves and whatnot. Its a blast.

I imagine it could be any number of things. People exploring every nook and cranny, reading every item description, testing out a bunch of different playstyles, struggling on hard bosses, choosing to stick to a hard playstyle (I'm thinking melee only, no summons or magic or physick), doing all the quest lines, whatever.

For me, I spent 82 hours according to the in game timer, exploring everything I could find, doing all the quest lines I could find. I played a melee build, but used spirit summons in the second half of the game. Finished at 173 with all but 1 ending unlocked (Goldmask's, who disappeared from my game so I couldn't do it).

I don't plan on playing this game ever again after I beat it so I'm literally exploring everywhere.

Maybe I'm in a minority but I like to replay their line up every 1 to 1.5 years and try a different build each time I do. If I still feel like playing those type of games I'll toss in Nioh 1 and 2 and sometimes The Surge 1 and 2. Trying out a different build I haven't run before in all of them

It's just not the same for me to go back and play a game again when I already know what to do. Half the fun is experiencing stuff for the first time. And usually there is something else I'd rather play that I have never played before than playing a game I've already played.

The only games I really play like that are old school games when I go to my buddies and we just play through old school stuff like OG Megaman stuff taking turns on each level and we just play through the whole game. We'll find Mario or Megaman hacks too and play through those.

Took me 230 hours to realize I could press triangle + L1 to dualhand my left hand weapon. So I can put seppuku on both of my blood uchigatanas and use seppuku with each one for ridiculous bleed damage when dual wielding them.

How you get two blood katanas?

And is seppuku an ash of war you can unlock for it or something?

I've been using that as one of my weapons depending on the situation.

I've been using that as one of my weapons depending on the situation.

I started as a samurai so uchigatana was my default weapon, and then I picked up the second uchigatana in one of the catacombs in Limgrave, then since I picked up all the whetstones (forget which one gives blood affinity) I was able to put blood affinity when applying an ash. I was using keen affinity before which gave me A dexterity and E strength weapon scaling on the uchigatana, but the blood is way better since it not only pumps the bleed damage hugely, but also gives me B dexterity, C strength, and D arkane scaling. And yeah seppuku is an ash and I got it by the ice dragon in the Mountaintops of the Giants area, then duplicated it at the armorer at the roundtable. Seppuku is dropped by one of the invisible scarabs, but the dragon killed it for me with one of its ice breath attacks when I was fighting it lol.

So today I was watching my about to turn 4 year-old nephew and I figured he'd think Elden Ring looked cool but he'd want to play it, so I handed him my Genesis bluetooth controller (not paired up) and told him he was controlling my Mimic Tear when I summoned him in battles lol. He got a kick out of taking down dragons and bosses, but then thought Radagon was too scary so we stopped playing there. After sending him home went and took down Elden Beast again and got the frenzied flame ending.

Finally finished Elden Ring today.

Apparently I got the best/secret ending according to this:

I was like level 176 or something when I beat it. I found the final boss the toughest in the game. I beat em with no flasks left too so it was close after like 10-12 tries.

I doubt I will be putting much if anymore time into this game. What an awesome ride it was.
