For people interested in this, I'm running Dell's new drivers (supposedly leaked Catalyst 3.3) and DivX Player 2.1.

Checking the ATI accelerated post-processing drops the CPU usage in half when playing back DivX movies. It also removes some macro-blocks, so it looks even better than software mode. This is really a great feature, I just wish it worked in other players like WMP 6.4.

And the hardware accelerated mode for DivX uses Pixel Shader 2.0, while the RealVideo Fullstream uses Pixel Shader 1.4, so the DivX option will only work on 9500 cards and above.

I wonder if there is any chance of the code being made available for others to incorporate into their players? It would be hep if MPC could make use of it. The DivX Networks player is not an option because of its limited file support and general functionality.

The new one is much better. It supports mpeg1, mpeg2, any AVI, even some Quicktime files...

I still like WMP 6.4 the best, but DivX player is getting close.

edit- Earlier tests were movies encoded with previous versions of the DivX codec. I just encoded a 640x480 movie using 5.0.5 to really test it. Software mode takes about 50% CPU, with ATI-mode enabled it goes down to 5%. Good stuff!
