I'm struggling to see how barbs and monks are flying through T6 G-rifts at level 40+ ??? When I'm in a game with these toons their dps when I ask is 1.1-1.4 mil. My WD does more than that, but they absolutely destroy me in killing mobs. How are they doing it? My crit chance is 50% and my crit damage is over 450% (I think). I'm using a 5 piece Zunimasa set carnevil build. Or, what am I doing wrong with my WD?

With my two wizards, I frequently see damage in the hundreds of millions or even low billions, even though sheet dps is only 1.2-1.5 million with magic weapon. The damage bonuses from set bonuses or other items really makes a huge difference. With the TR build, I can solo low 40s, usually finishing within the time. But I can't say the same for my WD - I've had issues for a long time with getting decent damage with my WD.

Sheet DPS doesn't show everything, in fact it's sometimes misleading. Set bonus (especially the 6th piece), perfect timing in stacking skills (WarCry/BattleRage/WoTB/etc), taking advantage of CoE cycle, etc. make a huge difference.

Yep. That all stacks for a lot. I've seen a couple billion with dps gear for me. The dh folks are in the 10's of billions though. They are just killing it.

Time to hang up the WD build then. I have a demon hunter, monk, and crusader that are level 70 ready to build, but I haven't played enough with them. I'd seriously like to be able to steam roll through T6 G-rifts with one of those. Anyone got a kick butt build to recommend?

For DH, the Unhallowed Essence build is really good. Here is mine: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/TimberWolf-1533/hero/62435010

Best of all, you can craft a very good ancient bow, and of course the reaper's wrap bracer. Then it is just a matter of finding the 6 piece UE set, a good quiver (season 3 DML is one of the best), the focus and restraint rings, and a good amulet.

Carnevil can clear 50+. It sounds like your gear just isn't great. With that said, pet doctors tend to not clear as fast by the simple fact that their damage is divided among 20+ pets who tend to scatter in large crowded areas.

They're also just greater rifts, or grifts. Grift difficulty is independent of your game's difficulty level. That should save you some typing.

A key to any of these classes is an ancient weapon. DH is the easiest here, as fairly high grift progression is just tied to having any ancient, which means you can craft them. Other classes are much more dependent on specific weapons that hopefully drop ancient.

It's worth noting that I think WD will benefit a bit more than other classes when 2.3 drops, at least in the "improved by this many grift levels" metric.

Build link? It sounds like you've got it put together, but there might be something missing.

I've been lurking through and reading this thread (understanding very little, but reading anyway). I had a quick question. Just worked my way up to level 70 and now at level 12 Paragon (quite newbish for around here) and was wondering if anyone had opinions on how to level up a bit quicker. I tried Torment 1 last night for the first time and while I never died, I did have to run in fear a bit (arcane damage is killing me) and it took me a hell of a long time to get to the guardian. Is it worth playing one level lower and tearing through Rifts to get the XP faster or is it worth the grind of a higher difficulty? Any thoughts would be much obliged.

Run some T6/grifts with a group of us more established players, the XP will be flying. Noone in the clan will turn you away. I know I won't.

Appreciate the suggestion. I guess joining the Anandtech guild would be a good place to start. Will take care of that when I get home. May not be able to actually play tonight, but will at least join up.

Without digging very deep at all, you only have one jewelry socket, you need three. The other two gems will be simplicity's strength and gogok. Take efficacious out and put in bane of the trapped. You don't even have to level it first to see a good benefit.

You also don't have a Dagger of Darts, so this is only a Carnevil build in that you are wearing a Carnevil. The piercing effect paired with Carnevil is what makes the build shine.

Zuni 6 piece should be proc'd by either piranhas/piranhado (You can probably just use zombie piranhas until you get a DoD) and grasp of the dead/"the rune that gives you globes". And let's consider, if you're not proccing 6 piece, why bother wearing six pieces?

I don't see a single skill that would proc your bracers, so I would recommend aughild's in the bracer and shoulder. Make sure you get +poison on the bracer.

You might be better off going with a more "traditional" pet build until you can fill in the blanks.

Some other suggestions:
CHD in the gloves.
Socket in Zuni ring.
Find a replacement amulet.
Socket in mask. Stick life gem in there.
Put +fetish in the shoulders
+fetish is also recommended in the belt, but you don't want to do that.
will probably want convention of elements instead of nagelring

My build only tops out at 42, but it's the more traditional pet doctor I mentioned. I'm running this while I wait for either ancient DoD or any SMK. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/sweenish182-1340/hero/26145874

And here's a Carnevil guide:

So, at least you haven't peaked your WD yet.

I'm not going to say keep playing your WD, but there's a lot of room for improvement, and some of it is fundamental.

EDIT: And don't neglect your follower. They can be a huge help in solo.

Official patch notes, but not the PTR. At least my client isn't showing a message that it's up.

Read over the notes. Bane of the Stricken is back. Monk's Uliana set looks excellent. The new WD sets look interesting, too. I'll at least be able to try out the Helltooth. I don't have room to hold the new sets. Maybe one in my inventory.

I might have to start muling.

Yes, PTR is up but the queues are just getting longer. When I first signed on, the wait was supposed to be 20 min, now it shows more than an hour. Not sure why the queue time is increasing rather than decreasing.

I just signed up. I've got 14.5 gigs to download before I can take a crack at it. See you Thursday...

I tried participating in the PTR once. Got in the queue, remembered that nothing carries over and I'm not a top streamer that needs to stay on top the meta, and uninstalled it.

I do look forward to watching some videos discussing the new stuff.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll start working on it.
