Some of the damage rolls are insane on ancient weapons. I got a blackguard ancient that rolled with almost 4300 damage last night. Rerolled a socket and put in emerald straight 20% damage increase over my furnace. And crazy thing it rolled with a 36 level reduction so level 34 toon can use it.

decided to max out the Blackguard, rerolled the socket to 7% IAS and gifted it. Whereas before with the furnace I was maxing out 3.3 sheet damage now I am right at 4.3 sheet damage, this is with all gems and buffs processing of course. I know its not a "Furnace" but it is pretty hot.

I am not a fan of the furnace. If you take out the elite bonus the rest is average and it is a slow weapon, that sword you have now is fast for being two handed.

I rerolled it for the IAS and gifted it for that little extra. ;)

Just started playing again and my first drop was an ancient 2-h spear. Didn't even know it was an ancient. I just saw 3800 damage so I decided to keep it. Then did a few more runs praying for ancient items. I look back at it later after crafting an ancient Utah roar that took up all my yellow and blue mats, and saw that it was an actual ancient. Not sure if I wanna reroll resource to damage or reroll int on it to dex or something for my monk.. Hmmmm. Later Kadala gave an ancient renho that I gave to my pet doc.

Not a bad night. First rift with my wizard, this nice one dropped:

It originally had a 5% resource cost reduction, but re-rolled it to a socket (for now). Nice ~11% damage upgrade from my previous two-handed sword.

Pretty nice two hander. I would definitely roll the socket in to +% damage or IAS and use an R gift :)

Yeah, if I get another gift, I'll re-roll the socket. I don't think IAS helps as much on a wizard though. Probably try to go for another form of damage increase.

R gifts can be tough to find. I started playing in September after 18 month hiatus. I've found 10. i've used 3, and have 7. But they don't drop often, I've put way to much time in to the game in 3 months. spring/summer right around the corner tho :p

Yea Brain, I think my Wiz like Crit Damage more than IAS. When rolling off the socket, I usually aim for +% damage increase first. If you get it to 10% increase, the damage on that two hander will be in the 4k's :)

after months of not getting a Fist of Legend for the Monk Shenlong's fist set, i got a second last night. Apparently these are not rare anymore? Too bad neither were ancient versions. Are ancient set pieces the rarest items now?

Anyhow, is there anyone that plays console and pc? If so, if you use the same bnet account, does your character transfer over to console?

Well, I like that Sunwuko gives monks a huge buff now. But man it's kind of a bummer that the insane multiplier basically means that your damage from anything other than sunwuko buffed abilities is kind of negligible. And of those five, only three really have any 'primary'/nuke potential (though supposedly there's EP builds?). And of those three Incense Torch just makes WoL far, far more efficient than LTK or TR.

I can GRift mid 30s solo as a pretty classic lightning monk and could see it going a bit further with some nicer weapons, but I think the key to going higher is definitely the passive spirit generation and spamming your nuke of choice as much as possible.

I am definitely drifting toward lighting since the last patch and with Sunwuko i got rid of dashing strike for exploding palm, so unless it is elites i can use wave of light and exploding palm and blow up a lot of stuff and i love it! but once I get to those 34 level grifts and above and I struggle and without dashing strike i cannot run away. I can up my armor and resistance but that would be to the detriment of my damage. If I had some more ancient set pieces maybe i can survive better without dashing strike.

I'm starting to think I'll my SMK before MoJ. Geez.

And if that actually happens, I've already got an ancient tiki, so I'll just start doing grifts 15 levels higher than I am now (28).

Yeah, I'm disappointed that they made it specifically casting those 5 to get the buff, and not just spending spirit. That would've made for a lot more options, but this certainly allows more options than the old set did.

You're close. EP is a pretty important ability to clear through rifts quickly. Bell is for the boss when you're trash deprived.

dumb question, but how do i do damage? i'm playing in torment 1 and it takes me foreeeeeeeever to clear any level.

here's my pally build (not too keen on bombardment, too long CD)

Well, you are simply not ready for Torment yet. You still don't even have level 70 gear, so you have a ways to go yet. I would recommend playing at a lower level. You won't get any set armour (except through Kadala) but you will still get some decent legendaries that will allow you to start playing at the Torment difficulties.

Once you start finding decent level 70 gear, what you want to look for are main stat (obviously), crit chance, crit damage, and elemental damage. Sockets are also very useful, especially once you start collecting legendary gems, but that is for the future. Also +skill damage is also useful. You will also eventually start increasing your paragon levels and that will also give your stats a boost.

Collect everything for salvage. Craft some starting armour, such as Aughild's, and weapons. Do Act 1 bounties to try to get a RORG (Ring of Royal Grandeur).

I've been gambling gloves for the last ~10,000 BS, and man, the only ancient gloves I seem to get are St. Archew's Gage. I've gotten like, 8 now. It's super annoying. :(

Spending spirit was the old 4-peice SWK buff. I have mixed feelings about the new buff. Losing the 20% damage increase really hurt. I was doing some pretty good double and triple digit - million hits...now my monk doesn't hit as hard at all. The buff change has forced to me fiddle with skills again....

EP?

Like the other guy said, you are not T1 geared. Best way to get gear is to join a t1 pub or play with friends that can wreck T1.

I'm at the bottom of the player list on page one. I don't mind leveling people from AT. I've been leveling my kid since christmas :p

I agree with the others - join games with people doing T1 to gain some levels and maybe some gear. But also look into crafting - you can make some pretty decent things that can hold you over until you find something better (but stick with level 70 stuff).
