Leveling goes quicker on Adventure mode? I've been trying to level my Demon Hunter and Monk in story mode, but I'm to the Zoltun Kulle part, which I didn't enjoy the first time around. Maybe I'll switch to adventure mode to level them.

You cannot play on hard with a level 1 character. Don't even try. Play through normal then go to hard, and play adventure mode. You have to beat the game before you can play adventure mode, but once you can, you will level up faster and get better gear.

Huh? Level 1 toons can easily start on hard.

I think so. You can spam Act 1, which is the easier IMO for XP and loot. I haven't tried it yet, but if you were to be invited to a level 70 game on say T1 and they finished all the quests with you in the town, you'd get a ton of XP.

Ok, technically you can play it. But it will go a lot slower. The fastest way to level up (by yourself without somebody helping) is to go through on Normal as fast as you can, and then stop playing the the campaign all together and switch to adventure mode.

If you start on hard, you will have to drop to normal in order to beat it. My character from pre-patch had to drop down to hard for the second half of Act V (And this is true for the majority of players).

So sure, start on hard if you want, but its going to take you longer to beat the campaign. There is just no point in starting off on hard.

Yeah I hated act 2, way too much walking around in almost every zone till you could find the next save checkpoint. Haven't even gone back there for any bounties.

I had no problems playing as a new char on master, just had to craft some gear at the smith to make kills not take to long. Once you get the templar should be even easier.

By the by, if anyone finds the level 70 Asheara plans the mats for them aren't bad at all and it's quite easy to farm Sssthrasss for the special crafting ingredient (though drop rate still leaves something to be desired). It amounts to some pretty 'easy' legendaries and IMO the 2 and 3 set are both quite good, more AR and Life never hurts.

I'm playing on hard just because normal was so easy. Are you saying by ACT V, I'll have to drop down to normal because it's too hard?

Eh, I just beat Malthael last night on my Crusader, and I never turned it off Hard difficulty. Malthael did manage to keep me from 100% health unlike every other boss, but part of that was my fault. For example, I thought those mist clouds were just slowing traps, but they actually dealt damage. 😛 Honestly, very few situations have ever given me trouble. I even got into fights with more than one champion pack and/or named enemy. It's very helpful that my Crusader can blind often, I stun a lot, and activating my Law will give me high heal on hit.

The worst part is how bright that darned desert is! :|

If you google the 'RoS legendary crafting materials", I believe the Diablofans article says the drop rates and the proposed increased drop rate, and they are pretty low. Even T6 is considerable lower than you'd imagine.

I would think you could probably tear through it without too much trouble if your paragon level is high enough, and then once you hit 15 and sockets become available on weapons, you could toss a marquis ruby on your weapon and tear everything to shreds until 40.

Yea my level 24 monk is totally blinged out with Marquis gems and is ripping through Hard pretty easily. Makes a huge difference to be able to put those nice gems on lower level toon's equipment!

I spent like 30 mil last night trying to get CHD on a ring last night... I am down to like 5 Forgotten Souls (they are like 100% drop from Rift bosses for me) and no Diamonds left. =( Making all those gems is expensive!

Also, does anyone have any link to the 7k soft cap for main stat? I am currently sitting at over 8k, but that is pure coincidence and am wondering what I might drop for it, if there is real data suggesting 7k is fine to stop at.

Sure, paragon and gems and hellfires certainly help. But hard is still pretty easy, I start new toons on T6 and slowly back them down, usually finish around master/expert.

No, stay on hard. The only reason to play on normal is to farm gear for your lvl 70 to get ready for T1.

Beat Act V last night and ran through Act I on adventure mode for the first time. Should I be saving these shards for any particular reason or cash them in immediately? I'm only level 56, so should I wait until I'm 70? Does cashing them on any particular difficulty have influence on what you might get?

Yeah, it's all hugely dependant on gear. Once my crusader hit 40, I actually bumped the difficulty up to T1 for a dozen levels or so. You see, I had had a 2.4k two-handed mace drop with a -30 level req. attribute on it drop for me my first time through act V. That was an amusing stretch of levels.

In general though, I found hard to be pretty faceroll, even without such silly twinking. I never dropped the difficulty below hard on that aforementioned first trip through act V, and pretty much all of that character's gear was replaced with stuff I'd found by the time I got her to the end of it.

There is a cap of 500 blood shards, so really, use them as you see fit before you hit the cap. There is a chance to get a legendary from the gambling vendor, so there is potential for a great upgrade. I recommend using them on the worst piece of gear you have until it is upgraded, and then going to the next worse. Weapons should probably be avoided though, as unless you get a legendary, they won't be amazing.

You can get a set item too - I got a chantodo source, was really excited, but unfortunately it was a garbage roll and much worse than the rare I'm rocking. Still hoping to find a source useful for an electrocute/frozen orb wiz.

To those talking about drop rates - keep at it. I did two rifts last night and got 3 legendaries across the two. I ended up using 2 of the 3 legendaries. I really do find the drop rates to be quite sweet - I might start another character at this rate (never played anything but a wiz in diablo 3).

I doubt there's any increased chances based on difficulty. There's none for cache chest chances so I doubt there would be any for blood shards.

On occasion, I'll end up on that loot server and get like 4 or 5 in a single rift. Then, a dry spell.

I keep seeing people mention split farming or split bounties on the d3 forums. What is that?

Split farming is when a group of players gets together to complete the bounties in an act, but instead of staying together, you will split up and each complete your own bounty. Allowing you to complete all 5 much faster. With this method you can often complete an entire act in under 5 minutes, giving you 20 caches an hour.

I call total BS on this. There is no way you start a new character on T6. The VERY first zombie you come across on T6 has 35-50 MILLION hit points. A new character does single digit base damage. Lets just say you can 10 dps. A little math shows it would take your 56 DAYS to kill the very first zombie, assuming you somehow never got hit. One of my chars with 5.5 million toughness takes 50-100k dmg per hit from this lowly zombie.

You've clearly never had a hellfire ring then. 1-2 hits to kill mobs at lvl 1, you start unlocking skills and within about 2 minutes have access to socketed weapons, toss in a max level ruby, keep going. Around 25 to 30 you'll have to back down slowly to keep pacing good.

I just did it with a new toon, I don't know why because I already knew the answer.

Also, enemies scale since patch 2.0.1 or whatever, so a lvl 1 T6 zombie has nowhere near the HP that you're talking about. Congrats on not knowing what you're talking about though.
