Damn, started Inferno on MP1 and I have to be careful...i'm dying a lot.
Another dude gave me some stuff yeaterday and instead of sitting at 57K DPS/54K HP i'm now at 81K DPS/46K HP...didn't played yet with those stats so can't tell how i'll fare but hope it gonna go a bit better.
At last it's getting challenging.

Hell to Inferno is a huge jump in difficulty. Not as bad as when the game released, but still a good jump. If you're having a little trouble try MP0. Because at MP1, the monster levels in all acts are 63, rather than 61,62,63.
ah ended up buying a 1364.x calamity with os 86% crit.
Initially sold at 3.1b to someone but he wanted to go back to monk so sold it back to me at 2.7b I then resold it this morning for 3.4b. O_O
It was sorta urgent so i ended up selling 5 RS emeralds for quick gold.
Thinking back to the early days of this game, and I think alot of people quit with out really giving it a chance. People were really just looking at paper dps and ignoring so many important factors to character builds for optimal effectiveness. Remember when everyone thought the DH was OP b/c it was able to obtain the highest paper dps b/c of sharp shooter, lol. Then it was, lets use storm shields with our barbs, and tank elites for 2 hours. All of the skillz have always been there since the get go, no one knew how to maximize the skillz yet and people gave up too soon.
I started off with a WD, and put over 1k hours into him so far. I remember WD was supposedly a joke, and it was true unless you knew some things. Like how important mana management was, and the fact that attack speed, despite buffing your paper dps, was an actual detriment b/c when you run out of mana you can't attack.
Overall, I just wanna say that from the beginning I think this game was fantastic. There's so many different ways to play with each character. You can do it on the fly for the most part, but some builds required specific items.. like zombie dogz for example, but that's what the AH is for. How are you gonna find build specific items? Are they gonna really let you roll -9 sec zombie dog cooldown on a pair of gloves or something?
And as far as items, I played for a while of course, but I was able to find most gear for my characters or if I found something good that I didn't need, I sold it for items that I could buy for my guys. If you only got to Inferno, did a couple of butcher runs, and stopped... there's no reason to complain. You didn't put enough time in, and the game can't just give everyone what they want right away. What's the point of playing if you have everything you want?
There's a reason I stopped playing Borderlands 2 after beating it a few times with a couple charcaters, but I still go on in D3. I have 1 character in plevel 100, and my other 4 are at or close to 50+ plevel.
The only problem I have with the game is item balancing and variety. Like, why is the EF the only item that can roll decent weapon stats? Wizard spikes, burning axe, etc... they all suck... wtf?

Because of a bug in the way black damage items roll +min / +max damage. It is why all the highest DPS weapons are non elemental. Blizzard has stated they know about the bug, but won't fix it due to it effectively screwing 90% of the player base (as they all have EFs or Skorns).
I do agree with your post for the most part though. I think as people learned more about the game, the reasons some people quit initially were unfounded. Without the AH, would we have those specialized gear builds? CM Wizards would be nearly impossible to gear up as well. The problem with only having self found gear is that the perfect storm of rolls is so unlikely to happen (even with all rolls buffed).
Thankfully, the console version doesn't need the AH because you can easily dupe a 23,000 dps weapon (yes, 23,000) and have paper DPS in the millions! Maybe that is the community Blizzard wants to bring back: those that only remember the dupe era of D2 and the super instant gratification.
I've really been distancing myself from this game of late. I got my enjoyment; had great success and fun. The expansion and patch prior has turned me off so much from what I enjoyed about D3, I've no reason to stick around.
OMG, lol.. I guess that's what the community wants. Full access to everything so they don't have to work in the game.
Seriously, game devs need to stop listening to the players. They never know what they want.
It's the same thing with COD, people will whine more that they are willing to learn and adapt.

I read a quote from the Pokemon creator and it was something like "I know you guys [the community] believe you can design good Pokemon. The truth is you can't and your ideas are awful. Sometimes we take your ideas and display them in the office so we can laugh at how bad they are." It was something to that effect.
The average gamer couldn't design a good sandwich, let alone a good game.
The AH would be just fine if they fixed the gear itemization issues. There is no reason an EF should roll Str, Dex, and Int. Just do Loot 2.0, and the AH is invalidated for anyone except the elite (who won't find upgrades anyway).

no they get mastery levels 1-5 and then easy med hard
so you can do inferno on hard + mastery 5
which is basically MP10
the weps like that 23000 DPS one with 3 sockets are hacked, they have figured out how to dupe and do item edits on both consoles
hell duping is as easy as tradeing an item to someone and leaving the game to the dashboard and rejoining, you can do it with acnt bound items as well by tossing them on the ground

210k DPS (I grabbed a rare instead of a WKL to go with an EF. They would do about the same damage for a lot less gold.)
I am finding it hard to upgrade dexterity without costing a ton. I am looking though.

Wow.. Monk is easily the most expensive to gear. They are devastating though.
BTW, you can try crafting a chest. Those archon can roll high dez, vit, sockets, ar and armor. I've made a ton, but haven't gotten what I want yet.

What is the fastest way to get exp? I am 94 and it is starting to drag. I have tried mp10 act 1 without killing elites, it seems OK. Any other options?

Act 1 MP10 group play is the fastest. Don't skip the elites either. In a group, they should melt (if you don't get the random scum wanting to be carried through public games).

on your barb you should be able to do act 2 runs with skipping elites in under 30 min, it will net more exp vs act 1 but its boring as hell, if you have a decent skorn you can swap to a non fury gen build with rend and just fly through it, however i can never make that work correctly
