Finally got to play a bit last night. Struggled through about 30 minutes. Is there a big change in things if I keep playing or is it pretty much all the same as what is at the beginning?

KT

Game gets MUCH better from lvl 10 on, wait til you get to Skeleton King, Up to Skeleton King its very easy, boring almost. Wait to form an opinion until you are AT LEAST lvl 15 or so.

Diablo III feels like Diablo II lite IMO. Game's an epic fail. Only 4 people can play together... Companions not available unles you play solo... No runewords. Campaign is short. Huge server problems during first release days. Some characters feel very underpowered. NO PvP on release. Hefty $60 price tag. No offline single-player. Auction house paypal fees. You cant ninja other people's shit. Cant farm bosses.
Skill system is dull and lame. you cannot pick rooms where there's as much people as u like. Instead a room gets picked for you and it usually has 1 single n00b barb playing who's just trying to leech off you. WHY the f*ck cant I just PK him? Oh.. Wait, there's no PvP.... And once it's added, I still wont be able to PK him!

And have you seen the cow level?!

All they had to do was to take Diablo II, or even Diablo I up it's graphics and resolution to Diablo III level, and just leave everything EXACTLY THE SAME. They would be left with a much better game.

I dislike the fact that there is no competition for loot. Skill system does suck.

By the way, I for one am glad they added in an auction house. Not for the obvious fact that hopefully it'll be easier to find gear but more importantly because assuming it stays popular that means that gold will be the in-game trading currency as opposed to SoJ's and HR's like in Diablo 2 (which are infinitely more difficult to come by).

Got to the end of Act 1 last night. I enjoyed the boss as it had some advanced fight mechanics almost borrowed from WoW. The second half of the act was much more enjoyable and more difficult, even with 4 of us. I'd say the difficulty was just right. I can't wait to get through the rest of the game.

I hope they continue to release new content for the game, more than just one act like they did with D2.

Edit: Added Game Name

Normal mode was pretty easy with the Monk. NM is going to be a lot more difficult. All the semi elite monsters and boss monster are wallers / casts that fire / poison crap on the floor / sentry casters / or any combination of such.

Anyone also notice how these maps are extremely large ?

I've noticed that the elite skills are either really easy or stupidly hard. jailer/spinning arcane thing is a nice combo. Along with freezing/plague(or desecrate). There are some simple ones tho, any ranged with vortex or wall for the most part. The worst I've ran across was either a skeleton pack w/minions with fast/spinning arcane thing there were like 15 of the arcane things up at a time, it took a while. Or a fiery chain/vamp abom pack at the end of act 1.

I had the combo from a pack that was Fast + The fire eruption thing from the bottom + wall
Instant Death

You are a crazy man!

Trust me, I'm paying for it now. Seriously started dozing off while standing at the urinal...

If I had to guess I think they'll do minor things like new enemies/items more often but large amounts of content they'll probably only do once. I could be wrong, guess we'll see.

I was flying solo part of the night and in Act II the poison started absolutely destroying me. I'm not sure why, I've got a decent amount of health and all but it was literally taking enemies half a second to kill me with poison. It's a bit frustrating...

It's that crap that's on the bottom. What I've noticed with D3 is that you can't be just standing around and spamming your skills. You have to move around constantly and spam.

given that the maps are randomly generated and reset at every log-in, is there still much incentive to explore?

I had zero lag issues last night and I played most of the night. Only area that's been iffy is the AH, won't load items.

The AH was pretty bad for me as well. It took awhile, but I could eventually get items to load. :|

Also, why is it that I'm always unlucky that anything with less than 2 hours left are always items that don't have small bid prices. It's always those people that put the bid price at 80% of the buyout! :p

Absolutely. This is one thing that Blizzard did brilliantly: there are randomly generated events that vary with every game. For example in Act 1 sometimes you'll see the Matriarch's Bones, sometimes you'll see the the other quest, and sometimes neither. These randomly generated sidequests happen throughout the whole game.

What am I doing wrong then? :p

Not really. I'm not that much further ahead of you and I just hit lvl 25, probably half of my game time has been with a party and half solo.

I just got booted from the game four times (9:30AM Central time). Is my install/hd corrupted or are the servers still having issues?

#2, is how do you start a public game. So in other words, I want to be the first person in my game, but then allow others to join.

That's why I just look for items with really cheap buyouts. I kind of like how it does "recommended items" based on your weak spots in your gear and makes suggestions, my shield was really crappy and it showed a bunch that were available so I scrolled over until I found one that was $300 and bought it. It was just as good as those that were 10-20x as expensive.

I think it all comes down to how successful the real money auction house ends up being. If it generates significant revenue, they'll be more inclined to keep releasing content and expansion packs to fuel that.

Either way it's still gonna be years before we see anything significantly new. This is your diablo for the next 2-3 years.
