I'm waiting for the holiday season to roll around. I have a feeling gold prices will spike again when people are off and have time to play and such... I could be wrong though.

It went up to $0.38/M gold last week, but I held off. Now it's back to low 30s. I'll probably have 10-20 million by Christmas. Not really holding my breath. It's sad that I can shovel someone's driveway for more in a tenth of the time...

jewelcrafting is a money sink. Takes about 15 m to create a perfect gem.

Unless you want to have a "perfect" load out, it doesn't make financial sense to make gems better than the ones that radiant squares (~600k gold ones) -- except an emerald for weapon. The next step up is about 2M gold, then about 7M, then 21M.

You can generally get better items that produce the same, or even better, stat increase for the same amount of money.

Why is it sad?

You should be ecstatic because you can make tons more money by doing a little bit of hard labor.

At some point it's cheaper to buy gems to up your stats.... like when your next upgrade costs about 300m.

Plus they're a one time investment that can be transferred between characters, which is kinda nice.

I mean it's sad that I spend so much time to rake in $0.25 an hour playing Diablo when I could be doing something that offers 100x the hourly rate:).

When you get to that point, then okay, it would be worth it. But my equipment's not bad and I spent no more than 10 million max -- I did get lucky and found the amulet that's worth at least 50 million though. Then again, as a DH or Monk, you're pretty damn lucky that emeralds are worth a big premium over the cost of making them, so it's kind of an investment.

What sells best? DPS type gear? Dex for DH, Int for Wiz, Str for Barb, etc? Most of the stuff I find and craft tends to be Str gear for some reason. Thanks for the info though.

Best selling items will be those with ideal stats.

I have a general guideline for what I've seen sell personally in my 450 hours of gametime (and about 20% of that perusing/working the auction house). Remember these rules aren't cut-and-dry, but are generally going to be baseline requirements. Here are my general rules for what I consider will be sellable:
  1. Higher primary stat (higher meaning 150+)
  2. Decent Vitality (decent meaning 80+)
  3. All resistance (50+)
  4. Slot specific stats (in addition to the above):
  • Boots - movement speed
  • Gloves with at least 2 of 3: Attack speed, Critical hit chance, Critical hit damage
  • Chest 2-3 sockets
  • Legs 2-3 sockets
  • Weapons must be DPS 700+ for one-handed, and 1100+ for two-handed, and have a combination of at least 3 of the following: Critical hit damage (60%+/120%), Life steal, Life on hit (400+/800+), socket
  • Helms must have a socket
Vitality isn't required, but greatly increases sellability. The trick is knowing the stat roll maximums (browse the auction house and find items that are the highest costing and you'll eventually see why - their stats are ideal and very high rolls).

Pickup radius is actually a very awesome stat, which when rolled in addition to the above requirements, makes that item skyrocket in value. People often forget how useful this stat is.

Life regeneration is another commonly underrated attribute. This coupled with the above requirements can greatly increase value to a buyer that knows how useful it can be.

Physical resistance, in combination with All resistance, also greatly adds to the value of an item, due to the general melee damage reduction that it gives.

There are also several specific situations that require knowledge of each individual item type, however. For instance (to list a few): Barbarian belts need to have life steal on them, Demon Hunter cloaks need to have hatred regeneration, and Wizard orbs need to have Arcane power gained on critical hits.

Supply/demand also plays a large part in value. If there's a ton of an item with similar stats, chances are yours won't sell unless you undercut greatly. If yours is the only one with a set of attributes, set the price high and let the market decide.

Then there's learning the possible attributes and maximums for each lengendary. That comes with time, and without going over every single aspect of attribute application, hopefully this'll give anyone a good baseline to go on.

Best thing to do is search for similar items and see what's out there, find an average price and be reasonable. Shooting for the stars is only applicable for items that have the absolutely highest and best rolls (which are very, very rare).

Have fun! :)

I've got a DH as my main and I don't care about hatred regen on cloaks. It's all about +max discipline for me.

Thanks for the info guys. Obviously I am a bit late to the party, but I just built my new PC so I wasn't able to get in on the action when the game released. Any other advice, links to necessary reading/info, anyone could offer?

"druid gear" sells the best, or is worth the most amount of money. I'm talking stuff with primary stat + vit + resist + slot specific affix (crit, crit dmg, etc).

But with all the rares dropping now a days, you need pretty much perfect rolls to sell anything over 100k. Now's a great time to buy gear because you can get really awesome stuff for really cheap.

Weapons: anything that's not a dagger and is under 600 dps -> vendor. If it's a ~ 600 dps dagger, it needs socket, crit damage, str and/or vit for it to sell.

Normal weapons, I don't think you'll be able to sell anything under 800-900 dps for more than 100k.

saw your build, giving the skills a shot. The thing that leaves a trail of fire only seems useful in hallways though.

Also: On my barb I realized one of my rings didn't even have crit % on it. My base crit % was something like 36%, for a ww barb. No wonder it was taking me so long to mow things down, couldn't stay in WOTB to save my life.

Back in 1.0.4 it used to do 1500% dmg as fire and was awesome. Then they nerfed it to 300%. Might change the rune...

x2, I put my lvl 27 Quiver up and it's already up to 84,000gold! pande, you lived in GA long? I live up by Athens (go Dawgs :p).

Going on about 8 years now? Crazy how time flies when you're doing the grind, lol.

I pass through Athens on my way up through the mountains to visit family. I was actually targeting the university there when I first moved down here, but that never happened. :p

Grats on the sale and the lengendary 8008 surgery. :D

What is the fastest way to power level a character 0-60 solo?

Is this your first char? If so, then it might take you longer since you won't have gold to buy anything on the AH.

If this is not your first char, then you should have a decent amount of gold to be able to buy cheap gear that's still pretty strong to get you to 60. Also as the poster above said, do MP10, get set gear with bonus exp, etc.

Finally broke my 3 week long legendaryless streak. Twice. In four minutes. With two pairs of gladiator gloves. Are you fucking kidding me?
