Does anyone else have really bad choppiness when playing? I am running an i3-2120 with 8gb of memory with a GTX 460 GPU. I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have any problems with the game maxed and at a 1680 x 1050 resolution.

I have a friend with hardware almost the same that is gaming on a 27" monitor at a 2500ish resolution with maxed settings and it runs perfect.

Anyone else having bad gameplay on machines that should be running it fine?

i got wicked choppyness when enabling xfire with dual 6870s, ran fine with just 1, runs fine on a 7950 at 2560x1440, vsync both on and off

try vsync see if thats causing it, if not i have no idea, but yea at that rez you should not be having issues

I get choppiness, but it's latency lag cause my ISP absolutely sux. Your setup for max video is fine....Here is mine.

I7 860
8Gb ram
gtx 470
256Gb SSD - Vertex 3
Internet speed....3meg

What kind of latency do you get? I think mine is usually in the 200ish.

Also what resolution do you play on?

I play at 1920x1080 on a 24inch monitor.

My latency bounces from 80ish to 700ish. I'm in the middle of nowhere West Virginia though. There are only two internet providers where I am. When I moved here I was told bad things about both of them being unreliable. So, not much choice. One is provided by the city and the other I don't remember.

I found a few issues with the game, for starters using in-game FPS tracker is inaccurate. I've used 3rd party programs such as FRAPs and MSI Afterburner and those two show the same reading, while the in-game reader would show 60 FPS with v-sync on.

On my HD 7970 I run with forced 4xSSAA and I dip into the mid-50's in scenes with lots of action and lots of fog affects.

On the GTX 680 with 4xSSAA forced through inspector, it stays solid at 60 FPS.

In both cases, I get intermitten hitching which is not reflected on my FPS meters. It most likely some kind of latency issue but it is odd since my ping can be <200ms and I'd still see it.

I found that having as little as 10% MF makes a huge change during leveling. You suddenly see a whole lot more magic stuff and more rares. Doesn't change the fact that they're 10 levels beneath where they drop though...

u run SSD? i sometimes find myself lagging intensely in a2 when there are lots of things going on... and i hear my hard drive cranking like crazy.

I have found that true too. There's got to be a level though where you start seeing more rare and legendary items. I've only gone up to ~50% MF and still get basically Magic items with Rares once and while.

I got about 19% MF (from the helm gem) and I find a healthy mix of rare's, granted they aren't all great.

I've also finally started using the AH and like some guy a few posts before, I'm one of those guys selling probably great/decent gear horribly underpriced haha. However, I've made about 50K which makes me happy (just don't tell me any of the pieces I sold someone flipped for more, kthxbai.)

Most likely its just luck. 19% MF is almost nothing....

I have 160% and I still dont find that many rares.

MF is MAGIC finding... so if you are getting blues its still magic finding.

There is no relation between magic/rares/legendaries if you get more MF...

I tried loading my barb with gold-find gear and found that he got killed too often/easily, or killed others too slowly. He's level 60 so gets the mf/gf bonus for elites and bosses, so the mf/gf gear seems like too much a negative trade-off since barbs are pretty gear dependent.

As for lag/choppiness: yep. Throw me in a game with 3 wizards and it occasionally gets noticeably slower (not handicappingly though). It might be lag though. Sometimes I'm playing alone and the game just hangs. I can hear the computer fans throttle back, then everything but my cursor moves. After about 10-30 seconds it goes again - I think it's lag though because when stuff resumes, it doesn't seem like I've moved very far.

yea i have a samsung 830 256 gb one

the ONLY place i notice game lag where the video literally cant keep up is in act 3 on the bridge, even happened running 1920*1200 there are certian parts when playing with more then 1 person where it seems i drop to 2 FPS amd the game goes into fast foreward and catches back up

happens in the same span every time in the middle of the bridge, only place ive seen it

Does he just suicide multiple times against reflect packs? Sometimes damage can't be avoided. That build might work now, but will it work when repair costs are increased 6 times over?

for the reflect pack~ you just SS and blast them away so that you don't lose health.

takes time but it works. That's how I kill elite packs that have reflect dmg.

D2 had a formula based upon your MF that related to the chance of a legendary dropping off a high level mob. I don't recall what it is off the top of my head, but the more MF you had (to a point) the better chance of a legendary item drop. Not sure how it works in D3

I have 254mf but I only use that mf for popping clouds and resplendent chests.

It's impossible to effectively kill stuff with MF gear, unless you have it setup stat wise.

I think my farming 5 stack build only has about 60-70mf.

I'm running around 220% MF with valor buff. On a normal butcher run (cemetery, then halls of agony) i find 12-20 rares.

On act 2, I have to switch from MF gear to normal gear or I get wrecked.

i would guess that the more MF you have the more chance of a legendary weapon you get is based on something like this

you get 1 legendary every 100 rares and 500 magic drops. IF you have mroe FM you get MORE magic and rares drops, basically making the legendary drop come faster...

can be wrong though... with more MF MORE stuff drops, you will get a legendary eventually

I am pretty sure it increases the base amount to find said gear by the amount of MF you have. Say, in the new patch, there is a 2% chance of finding a iLevel 63 piece of gear in Act 1 Inferno. Now, with 200% MF, I should have a 6% chance of finding the identical piece. This doesn't seem like a huge difference, but it is. I've made a good amount of money farming the treasure goblins in Act 2, and I'm sure once the loot updates go into effect, I'll be increasing that amount. The ability to get the "great" items exist without MF, however, your chances of getting that 1700 DPS weapon increase with the more MF you have. Obviously, the chances are still very low and dependent on what stat multipliers you get on the weapon. I've found base DPS rare weapons with 495 DPS that ended up being like 501 DPS once identified...

Thats not how it works. Its the same as D2. Higher mf just means higher % chance to get certain item types, thats all. Legendaries currently have a very low chance to drop, all mf does is raise that chance by a small amount.

It must be luck, because I found two legendaries on my first play through (some Bow which I tossed to my DH, and some WD Mojo source thing I sold for like 25K on the AH.)

I'm not sure what a healthy amount of rares is, but I'd get...between 5-10 rares before fighting any bosses. I also full clear the maps. Ironically, I get zero rare's from boss kills - which ticks me off. I'd get a rare from a random pot, but jack from a boss 🙁

I did love the blizz post about a bunch of people were banned after star craft release and the same will happen with diablo.

For tthe hardware lag, they're aware of it and trying to fiix it. Seems to be something to do with the data files all being located in a small number of large files that get accessed regardless of how much data the game is currently looking for. Who knows how long till a patch for it is created though as it sounds like they didn't really have this occurence in house.

I really dislike that. Rare's drop from random shit, elite packs, but spend 15 minutes whittling down and beating Diablo in NM? two blues, gems, gold. BS!

I've found three legendary items to date, with about 100 Hours spread over three characters. It really feels like luck at this point.
