Afaik there no longer is MBM5 is no longer supported but I can't verify that for sure. Nonetheless MBM5 is a fine program to use. Be aware though that MBM5 doesn't work for some boards and the configuration is not necessarily userfriendly especially if you are not familiar with the program yet. I have heard some reports that MBM5 can sometimes mess up and reports the wrong temps, but then that can happen with any program dependent on how it reports.

A good alternative is Speedfan - if you find that MBM5 is too intimidating at first hand try (or if it doesn't work for you) you can check if Speedfan does the trick.

MBM5 works perfectly with the DFI LP UT NF4 boards.

if you follow this link at DFI street, the first post includes a downloadable configuration file and instructions for the DFI boards. it reads everything perfectly and you can even add plugins to read GPU core/ambient temps and core/mem speeds.

I have:

DFI SLi-D
2 x 512 OCZ Platinum Rev 2 3200

There is all this talk of timing like 2.5,3,3,5 1T

What i would like to know is where/how do I set the 1T timing?!?!?

It's also know as cmd but I can't see that anywhere under the memory timings section in the BIOS.
Thanks gang

1T timings are chosen under command per clock in the memory options under genie bios. I forget which option (I think you can choose enabled, disabled, and auto) makes it use 1T timings and which uses 2T. Be default, it chooses which to use automatically, so it should be set at 1T. To double check this you can download A64 tweaker, which lists all memory options available.

is nf4 temp go to 40-45C ? is that too high or not?

what is that highest voltage for LDT, chipset and cpu w/o burning them?

what is the hightest temp for LDT, chipset and cpu w/o burning them?

i have AMD64 3200+ venice , Ocz (512x2) plat. rev. 2 memory, dfi nf4 board

You're ok on the chipset temp. Overvolting depends some on your cooling. You should be ok with the 110% option, just do a little at a time & watch the temps. Anything above 55c bugs me.

Is there any reason NOT to run a single video card in the second slot on these boards? Any performance, latency issues? Any BIOS settings to change? Thanks for any input.

NewEgg has the DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard for 125. Minus $10 - 115.00 for a "10 hour sale" right now.

Bought the board for the comp I'm building in a couple weeks... just wondering, does the board itself light up, or do I need a UV light in the case to get that effect?

what is the difference between these four DFI boards on NEWEGG? Which one should I get?

NEWEGG LINK to the following DFI MB

1: DFI LP UT nF4 SLI-D Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail $165

2: DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail $172

3: DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI AMD Motherboard - Retail $199

4: DFI LanParty UT RDX200 Cross-Fire Socket 939 ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 CrossFire AMD Motherboard - Retail $199

The diff in the D & DR is just added trinkets in the box. The Expert has increased power phases, wider slot spacing for vid cards, jumperless SLI configuration & no jumper for high mem volts. The X-Fire is for ATI instead of nVIDIA dual grafics.

Thanks for the reply. So now should I get Expert or the D? Not sure if I would need the jumper for high mem volts.

Do you plan on overclocking? Running sli?

If you're just going to use stock settings and don't need the added space between the pcie x16 slots, then you might as well get the non-expert board. If you want to overclock yoru CPU as far as it can possibly go, get the expert.

Do the cards you are running have dual slot or single slot coolers? Both boards will run stable at stock settings. The only advantage the expert would have for you would be more space between yoru two cards (really only matters if your cards have dual slot coolers) and it might use a little less power.

They both have the mem volt capability, the expert is jumperless for it. If you're planning on using your old PSU make sure it's up to the job. The expert board also has the 8-pin connector.

I was planning on getting eVGA 256-P2-N517-AX Geforce 7800GT 256MB PCI Express x16 Video Card.

Not sure if this has dual slot coolers. Is this something that can be added to the video card to cool it better? If so I am all for it.

I plan on getting the Seasonic S12-600 ATX12V 600W Power Supply.

Yes on the cooler. I use the Arctic Cooling NV5 (rev2) on my 6800GT. I like the exhaust design. I think the rev 3 works on the 7800's

If you're looking for a different cooler for your video card, I'd look at the Zalman VF700. I'm pretty sure they outperform the arctic cooling cooler in most instances.

I'm sure that's true but as I said I use the AC because of it's role as a system component since it helps with system temps as well, being right over the chipset it helps draw out that heat too. I don't do extreme OC'ing on vid card so it works well for me.

I'm not sure which DFI nF4 mobo you're referring to, but you can buy any of them from newegg.com, zipzoomfly.com, chiefvalue.com, and plenty of other sites I can't think of off the top of my head.

i replaced my vf700 with the silencer and i'm glad i did.

the vf700 served me well with my 6800gt but the 7800gtx just killed it. well, more so the chipset temps. my temps went through the roof, 50-52c+ load which i know is safe but i didn't like it. and that was in the second slot.

with the silencer i'm at 40c idle and 45c load with 2700rpm in the top slot :Q very impressive.

and of course my card temp is ~38c idle and low 60's load.
