Just to let people know, eBay has some killer deals on the DFI boards. I picked my DFI Ultra-D up for $66 + $15 shipping used only for a week! 😀

I've found these downloads that mod several lines for you but they were a little old. I take it that is no longer nedded? Just the one entry does it? What's the problem with N-tune anyway? They never said why not to use it. Thanks again.

jus copy over the data folder and overwrite all the files as instructed. or rename existing 'data' folder and copy the one included in dfi.street thread that was just posted.

Does anyone else have a MS multimedia keyboard on this board? Mine is ps2 & it has a F-lock key that doubles the F-key functions. When ON they work normally &when Off the functions can be different. The problem is I want it to be ON by default at startup but it is backwards. When I boot up it is OFF & when I shut down it is ON. I couldn't find any setting in the BIOS like boot up num lock for this or in the MS keyboard program. The driver is up to date & the board is XP listed. I don't have any USB enabled, the mouse is USB into PS2 via adapter. Just an annoyance really but thanks for any input.

thats a keyboard issue i think. i've seen some people im peripherals i believe that had the same problem. try searching "f lock" or something and i'm sure you'll find some info.

I've got a logitech board that has the same type of F-lock thing, and it seems fine (as in the f-lock is on by default). I have no idea if I did anything to make it do that though.

Has anyone tried the new nForce4 drivers? Do they fix any bugs or improve performance at all?

I installed them. Haven't noticed any difference anywhere yet. I tried the Nvidia firewall but gave up on it & went back to windows own. I was hoping they might fix the f-lock thing but no luck. Got the new video driver too.

Found the F-lock cure on PC-Mechanic. It takes a registry hack to invert the function.

good info on that f-lock hack. whts the key anyway?

i haven't tried the new drivers. i probably won't for a while. i don't use the ides and i'm not having any trouble. maybe when i get everything settled in a bit.

I just got a DFI Ultra-D, and I am having a few problems. it wont detect my IDE drives, I've tried every combination of IDE-1 and IDE-2 and master/slave combo's and the best I can get it to do is detect the secondary slave (my cd burner) but not my DVD drive or either of my 2 Hard Drives. it gives me a 9beep ring when it boots, basically a 3tone ring repeated 3 times, and then it tried to detect the drives but doesnt. anyone know whats wrong?

also, after reading a couple pages through this massive thread, about the SLI and Ultra thing, if I can get the SLI bridge for the 2 cards, will the motherboard support it? im still not quite clear about that

-thx!

What are the full specs of your computer?

I think the 3 beep thing is a memory issue. Try running with just one stick of ram. If you remove the ide cables from teh motherboard, does it still get stuck at teh same place? What bios are you using?

full specs are
AMD 3500+
nvidia 6800GT PCIe
DFI LANParty UT nF4 Ultra-D
2 sticks of 512mb DDR-400 ram
1 Maxtor 200gb HD & 1 Maxtor 250gb HD
Sony DVD rom Drive
Plextor 12/10/32 cd burner.
Amamax 650w power supply

I just tried switching out the RAM with another computer and tried using both 1 & 2 sticks, still wont work

go into the bios and make sure all the raid options are set to "disabled" (assuming you're not using raid). Also, try removing all the ide cables from teh motherboard and booting like that to see if the problem still persists.

You might try disabling SATA if you're not using it & anything else you're not using like USB. Make sure the power supply is up to snuff & that ALL(4) connections to motherboard are made. Double check jumper settings on the drives. The early boards were a snap to mod to SLI but they made it a bit more difficult on the later boards. What memory slots are you using? What brand memory? What BIOS? Were the beeps 1 long & 2 short? If so make sure the video card is fully seated & check that INIT DISPLAY FIRST is set to PCIE in BIOS.

ok, did everything you guys suggested, to no avail. the BIOS is just the stock one, havent done anything to it.

anyway, here's what happened

ok, well...got rid of the beeping sound.

evidently all of my hard drives and CDrom drives are toast...

tried using parts from another computer, the beeping stopped and the devices got detected, but when I try and reinstall windows, it just crashed, from two different discs.

now it tries to find a RAID array every time I boot it, even though I have raid disabled...and sits there and does nothing...just the Detecting Array msg on the screen.

anyone have any ideas on this one now?

try a clear cmos at the least and a flash to 5.10 bios if you'd like. you can find all the bios at dfi.street.

for your clear cmos, load optimized defaults, save and exit, power down and then unplug. hit the power button a few times to clear the caps of volts, move the jumper to "clear" for at least a minute, move back to normal, plug back in, power up and load optimized defaults again. save and exit.

go back into bios again, under advanced-
take off full screen logo down the bottom
check your boot order and boot devices

go to genie bios-
disable sil3114 raid
set vid to 1.4
vid spec to 104%
dram to 2.7 (2.8v is fine too)
enable memtest

run at least 1 full pass of memtest before even trying an OS install.

are you using a usb mosue/kb or a ps/2? if you're on a usb, try a ps/2 until you geta new bios.

edit---and yes the ultra-d can still be modded but worry about that later.😛

I was trying to go into standby today, and it won't work. I did a bit of playing around and found out this:

S1&S3 instantly gives me a BSOD when I hit standby
S1 works, but I can't figure how to wake up my computer (I've tried hitting space, enter, moving and clicking the mouse, and hitting the power button). Hitting the power button made the power light turn green, but I didn't get an image.
S3 works, but I can only wake it up using the power button.

Any idea how to make these work?

never used standby, wish i could help you bro. i just use cool n quiet and have my monitor turn off after 10 mins.

is there a difference between using standby and cool n quiet?

I rarely use standby also, which is why I just started messing with it (after having the computer for 4 months). I run seti@home, so I don't use cool and quiet or standby normally, but its nice to be able to do it when I need to.

Standby has the ability to shut down all the components in your computer, including the fans (in S3 mode), while cool and quiet just throttles the CPU. The other modes don't shut down as much I believe, but all I really know about the modes is what I've noticed from messing with them today.

I have a problem with my DFI LanParty UT nf4 Ultra-D,
it might be the case, but, I can't power on the motherboard with the case power button, only with the EZ Touch Switch.
My case reset button works fine, and I have the power wires hooked up correctly (I've tried incorrectly too, to no avail) + and - are in the right spot, but I can't load with the power button. Anyone know how to fix this or is my case just broken?
Case = Coolermaster Centurion 5 (the Karajan Audio module ran into my 120mm fan, so i had to file down a nick into the fan to get it to fit correctly, be warned!)

yeah, i had to snap a couple corners of the fan in one of my cases to make the karojen fit.

as for the no start, it sounds like your case switch. when you say it works fine, how do you know this? a different mobo?

try taking a screwdriver and shorting the atx pins on the front panel connectors on the board and see if it starts.

The reset button works fine, not the power.
This is my first time building and I have too many wires zig zagging across it to even TRY and replace the motherboard lol.
I'll look at that screwdriver thing, thanks.

I just bought a venice 3000+ off newegg with a dfi nf4 ultra-d. It had the 1/25 bios version on it when I got it... being that I didn't have a floppy drive available, I updated it to the latest 6/24?? bios with winflash. Now whenever the computer posts, I see the post screen, then after that normally you would see other information like its detecting CD drive for a bootable cd or its Backing up BIOS or something which I saw on 1/25, and I normally see on other PCs. But I get a black screen with a black and white gradiant bar on the bottom. Very rarely I may see the screen that display more information after the post screen. Is this normal? Or is it only me?

BTW when I updated the bios with winflash, i only updated the main block and I skipped the DMI and Bootblock... since it was default and I didn't know if i should or not. Could this be the cause of the problem?

The screen looks like it is trying to display something but cant... Sometimes I get the error message from my monitor that it cant display current video mode and the screen goes blank then disappears as my OS boots... I can see the normal screen when I leave a CD in, it'll usually tell me it's checking CD...
