If your multi is set at 11x, and your FSB is 265... that's one heckuva overclock. It wouldn't surprise me if you couldn't get higher.

It would help us out more if you gave us your memory timings, HT, multi, etc.

Also, did you isolate and consolidate? i.e. find your CPU maximum by lowering memory all the way down using a /100 divider and seeing how high the CPU will overclock?

mult is @ 10

2.65 is really nice OC, and could easily be your CPU's max speed.

Read Zebo's guide in the CPU/Overclocking forums; follow that and y ou should be able to isolate and consolidate and find out if that's yoru max CPU speed or just a barrier you hit that you could get past with some tweaking.

what freaks me out is that when I had my XP-90 HSF mounted and thought maybe my venice was limited to 265 no matter what...when I unhinged my heatsink and lifted it off the cpu came out with it..stuck to the bottom while the zif socket arm was still locked.

Thats pretty normal for the CPU to come up with the HSF, the thermal compound you used (AS5?) was probably sticky and so it attached the CPU to the HSF. Bend the pins back with tweasers and it should be fine.

I have to ask this .... what is it the CPU is resting on?

Whenever I put my computer to sleep, I get a BSOD and a reboot. Does anyone else experience this?

I've heard changing sleep state to S1 or S3 instead of the default S1&S3 is supposed to fix this, but I dont' know the difference between S1 and S3, so I don't know which to change it to.

How's this, whenever I removed my waterblock off of my cpu, a Prescott, with a AS5 on it and just a bead that is recommended for the cpu, it would alwas pull off with the waterblock. Even after I try so gently and shimmy the block carefully, the cpu would come off with the block. This happened many times. So far I have not had any pins bent, I also used to forget to turn on the pump and the system would just turn itself off.

Hey guys,

I've pretty much decided on getting the DFI Ultra-D for my new AMD64 system. I don't have a floppy drive now. Is a fdd needed for bios updates on this board?

Aaron

si, for bios updates

also if u want to put windows on the sata raid

suse and redhat seem to do fine on their own without a driver floppy

i didn't want to go back through all... however many pages so for those that don't know...

AT was able to successfully mod the ultra-d to sli-d so was dfi-street
sli mod

but no bridges were available... until recently...

sli bridge

so go ahead and turn your ultra-d into an sli-d 🙂

Cool! I wonder if I should wait for a better price or grab one now before NVidia sends out the SLI Police.

You do not need a floppy to update BIOS on this board. There is a Windows bios update routine that works just fine. I'm pretty sure it's referenced earlier in this thread - but in any event I found it at the DFI site.

I have updated mine and a floppy drive has never tarnished my setup. 🙂

The one thing that sucks most about this motherboard is that there are no legacy Pararllel or RS232 Serial Ports. How am I supposed to hook up my GPS and Printer?

Hey Everyone.

Installed my Zalman 7700 ALCU this week and was happy to see it fitted nicely
above my Ballistix ram. Also extremly happy with this cooling ability.
At max load on my 3500+ WC it never goes above 40C and thats with a rpm of 550.

Still a bit unhappy how loud the chipset fan tends to get so Im gonna try to find some way to have a larger fan aimed at that location. Maybe the Zalman 123.

Well i had one stick of PC-4200 EL DDR Platinum go out on me two nights ago and am in the process of getting a rma. In the meantime I ordered the DFI Special Edition PC-5000 memory and all I can say is WOW!!!!!! I know there are much higher overclocks out there but this is my fastest to date. I have to underclock the memory slightly because the cpu doesn't appear to like going over 3050.I have it completley stable at 3050 @ 1.67 volts. 3060 will run benchmarks but I have to run the cpu voltage to 1.712 volts to do it. That brings me to my question. How high is to high for the cpu voltage? I was able to sqeeze out 11483 on 3dmark05 with cpu test included. That is with the cards set to stock 425, 1100 on air cooling. I am a few days away from finishing the watercooling for the vga cards, and hope to acheive a nice overclock on them as well. I hope this helps anyone deceiding on there memory for this board. Thanks again

I use this.

I know about that, but my gripe is that DFI only gives you 2 pci 32 slots on these boards. They will be filled by My Sound Card and Fax Modem (for sending faxes, not internet). I like this board alot, but the lack of legacy options is a deal killer. The x4 PCI-express slot is a deifinate selling point for SCSI or SAS HBA's. I know MSI has one(x4) but I am on an MSI boycott for the time being.

Also does anyone know how many phases the power circuitry uses? And does anyone know where to buy a legacy port adapter for PCI-e x1?
