Which bios are you using Reijison? As for the PSU, yes a 20 pin can work, but overclocking is probably a bad idea. Use the 20 pin w/o the 20 to 24 addapter for the time being if you can. Check out dfi-street.com for more on this board. Recomended PSUs Check out hardocp.com forms. There's a good PSU buying (sticky I think) thread in there with quaily PSU's of all price ranges. I got a 520w OCZ modstream. Pretty sweet.

what kind of psu you got? i have an antec 400W with the 20pin connector. i've came to the concensus that i'll need to get the antec 550W true power 24pin psu with 12v rated at 36A. it'll be expensive, but i hope it'll be worth it. the reason for replacing the 400W is that after i turned off the pc and then turn it back on. the board will not power on at all. it'll get some juice at first, like fans spinning for a few second. i rather not risk blowing out any components so a new psu is on order. will this antec 550W 24pin psu be good for a long time since it's too expensive.

mehmet: try this. unplug the power cable from the psu and plug it back in. then try to power on your pc. that's what i have to do to get my pc to power on. hope this works for you.

I´ll buy DFI Lanparty NFORCE 4 Ultra with 2 GB of RAM.
This machine will be for audio sampling and recording, and some gaming too

I?m worried if it can run 2 GB of RAM at DDR400, I don?t know if it will drop the memory speed with this config.

I would like to buy 4x512 KINGSTON PC3200 ULTRA LL 2-2-2-5, but as they are double sided, maybe they will run at DDR333
The 2nd option would be 2x1024 of OCZ memory PC 3200 3-3-3-7 OCZ4001024PF, is its performance good with this latency?

I have searched lots of forums and didn?t find a final word about this issue.

What would be the best performance choice? Do you think it can work?

Thank you very much,

I found a weird bug with the newest (3/10) bios. Go into the bios setup screen, turn on num lock, and the arrow keys stop working (same in grup/lilo, if You are a Linux user). Anyway, the first is easy to verify, please confirm (BTW, I have an USB keyboard, and USB keyboard support is enabled in BIOS). The problem only exist in the 310 bios.

Anybody know what the NVMM in the new BIOS is? Last time I checked the Street they weren't getting any straight answers. Someone speculated it was to prevent the Ultra to SLI mod. Anyone running the 3/10 on a modded Ultra? Also on clearing CMOS AFTER flashing BIOS I'm a little unclear. It seems better to me to do it BEFORE the flash, or wouldn't saving Optimized Defaults BEFORE the flash do the same thing?

Would somebody please explain this and what it means?

nVIDIA ActiveArmor
(Embedded hardware firewall & network solution)

Does this feature only work with the Nvida software? Is it really a hardware firewall?

Is there a updated version of the firewall software?

Thanks
Cowboy

It's supposed to cut down on CPU usage & yes AFAIK it's in the NF4 chip. Don't know of any updates yet, check NVIDIA's web site, they have a pretty good sales pitch-explanation.

I checked their website for the "Active Armor" software and I couldn't find anywhere to download it..

Am I blind or what?

Thanks

well, i am officially having my first problem with my ultra-d. i am trying to use a maxtor pci adapter card to add another ide hard drive to my system. but it will not register the hard drive connected to the card. i have all the drivers and such installed, but the drive wont register. it works only when i have to boot drive connected to it. if i connect all the drives, in any config, it will only recognize two of the drives. the two drives connected on the same device that the boot drive is on. driving me nuckin futs all week!

the third drive would be the 200gig maxtor that is in my sig. if i cant figure this out, i guess i'll have to get an ide to sata adapter. :p

I have a modded Ultra with the 3/10 bios and it still shows up as SLI in the bios splash screen, though I don't have it running in SLI now.

I know that I did have the computer crash one time with a BSoD and it said something about NVMM. This was with the original bios.

Isn't that what num lock is supposed to do? It toggles between the keypad typeing numbers and functioning like directional arrows doesn't it?

It might help. I'm ruing 2/01 (beta) still. But I did have problems with 1/25 so any bios upgrade would probably help some.

Nope. I was talking about the normal arrow keys, not the keypad.

IS ANYONE RUNNIN A SLI-DR WITH BIOS 310 IN A SUB-ZERO CPU ENVIROMENT? AKA VAPOCHILL XE. I AM RUNNIN A FX-55 AND CANNOT GET THE TEMPS BELOW ZERO ACCORDING TO THE BIOS TEMP READING. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE BIOS READS INCORRECT TEMPS, BUT IT DOES READ -ON THE 3500 CPU THAT I HAVE. I KNOW THAT THE A8N-SLI WILL NOT READ - BUT I THINK THAT THE SLI-DR WILL. ANYONE HAVE ANY INPUT? I AM TRIN TO FIGURE OUT IF THE EVAPORATOR IS CONNECTED PROPERLY. I HAV RESET IT ABOUT 20 TIMES WITH MIXED RESULTS VARING FROM 2-16C AT IDLE AND 18-26C UNDER LOAD. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP.

Hi there, i was wondering if anyone could help me. I just got my DFI SLI DR board in today and set about putting it together. only thing is i cant get the computer to do anything other then power on. I'm not sure if i have a bad component or if i damaged something. I've made 2 systems in the past and had problems with one but was able to get it working by listening to the beep codes but this board doesnt beep at all, it just powers and and stays on..but doesnt seem to do anything other then that.

I've got:

DFI|NF4 LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR
OCZ|OCZ520ADJ 520W
AMD 64 |3500 939P 90nm
EVGA GF 6800GT 256-P2-N376-AX
DDRAM PC3200 2GB KNGMX MPXD42D-2K
2 SATA HD 80GB|WD 7200 WD800JD 8MB
CPU THERMAL PASTE OCZ ULTRA 5+

Any help would be appreciated. I got all this from newegg and according to their 7 day return policy i still have a few days to send something back for a replacement if i have to.

Look for the 4 red leds down in the bottom left corner (if the board is oriented normally in a case) See if they are on or go out when you boot up. The error codes are in the manual. There are also some beep codes I think, but you have to turn on the speaker in bios I think. Start out with one stick of RAM in slot two and see if you can boot that way. See DFI-street.com for more info on getting this board working. Maybe try updating the bios also and make sure to clear cmos after doing that, you might try clearing it now and loading defaults before updating it just to see what happens. Which bios is it?

Well watching the LEDs when i turn the board on all 4 LEDs light up and stay lit. I think that means its in the start-up phase and can't detect the processor. Does that mean the processor is bad then or the motherboard? I took the processor out to make sure that it was in correctly and it was. There is no bent pins or other noticeable physical damage. I repeatedly grounded myself during installation do i dont think it could be damaged due to ESD.

Guess my next step should be to RMA my proc and get a new one.
