There is a SYSPREP tool on the XP CD.

You may need to extract files from the Windows XP CD, files are located at CD:\SUPPORT\TOOLS\ in a cab file called DEPLOY.CAB. The files are Sysprep.exe and Setupcl.exe.

With the old motherboard still intact:

You run sysprep and "RESEAL" Windows XP.

Then you put the new board in, and it re-activates Windows XP and populates the device manager list.

You do need to re-activate with the same key-code, and if you exhaust that number of activations, it will prompt you to call

Microsoft and you get a new release key at no cost from them over the phone.

If you have hardware conflicts with the new motherboard and any device, you will have extensive problems noticeable by memory dumps.

or, you could do a repair install.

anybody know how to calculate the number of cycles for tref? a64tweaker says '166mhz 3.9us' but in the bios it's an integer value... i get a feeling that this is part of my prob with getting stable with a low divider...

it seems that the mobo uses spd and such based on the divider u use, not what the real memspeed is going to be (htt/divider)... and it's using values that are too tight when the memory tries to run with them...

I decided to look in Device Manager and found the Ethernet Controller with a yellow ?
So I uninstalled it and rebooted and put in the dfi cd that came with my MB.
Now the ethernet is not listed under ? devices but Network like it should be.
But it has a yellow ? next to it
When trying to install it say's something about unexpected .inf file?

Update: Downloaded Marvell Drivers and updated ethernet controller.

All Fixed :)

Thanks
Cowboy

it has been nothing but a delite for me.

I totally agree. Other than the loud chipset fan; this board has been flawless for me. Even with the shipping 1/25 BIOS.

Greetings peeps,

I've been messing around with my new DFI Uldta-D for about a week, and I can't seem to keep it from locking up. I'm using a 20pin connector with a the additional 4 slot, but after reading things from everywhere, and the DFI site, it seems they REALLY suggest a 24pin with 480watts. So I bought one of these, probably could use it anyway, but it hasn't arrived yet. Is that what's causing it?

I just installed my board on Saturday and had issues getting Windows XP on it until I used teh 3/10 BIOS. Now everything appears to work except for a couple of nagging problems. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

1. I have random packet loss and lag when using the nF4 network connection. My other PC's don't experience the problems so I think it may be a driver issue (I am currently using the drivers that came with the board).

2. I get static in my sound when playing UT2004 (low or high quality sound). I don't get static with anything else.

3. I have an MX1000 mouse and it randomly stutters in its tracking and the mouse buttons lag in their clicking when the stuttering is occuring.

Just looking to see if anyone has seen these issues.

Don't know about the first too, but if your power supply is good enough try changing the back usb jumper to +5VSB. This, I think, gives the USB ports a little more juice, it solved the problem of my keyboard and mx510 not getting power during the boot process occasionally.

I get statit also in UT2K4. Its annoying, every little sound seems to echo back and forth.

1) yes, it goes up to 4v
2) no, as long as you have active cooling on the ram (a fan)
3) the most it should need is a bios flash, so yes.

total newb question here (built my first computer this weekend)... How do I get the computer to stop waiting for me to press F1 to continue at startup? I know it should be very simple, but I'm not very smart on this stuff yet. I just want to turn on the computer, make coffee, and have it ready to use when I get back.

Sorry if it's been answered previously in this thread. 41 pages is a lot for this poor brain to read through. I might have skipped some posts.

at startup. i turn on the computer, it flashes the little lanparty logo, scrolls some text down the screen, then says to either press F1 to continue or press Del to enter bios.

I got the F1 prompt when I was trying to setup my computer before I flashed the BIOS. Then i went into the BIOS and selected "Auto optimise" and saved the setup then reboot and everything worked fine and no more F1 prompt.
Good Luck
