"Official" DFI nF4 Ultra-D / SLI-DR Thread

Word from up here in Canada is that DFI keeps delaying the supplies for unknown reasons. NCIX tho still has them in stock, and jacked up the price 6.00. I smell fish.

Got my system up and running with XP last night. with no issue at all 🙂. Runs very cool at stock speed. The Zalman fan stays around 1k rpm with the fanmate at max. Since the mobo has built-in fan speed control (at times it completely stop the CPU fan and got me scared), I don't think a fanmate is needed for the Zalman. So far my impression for this board is very good.

I ran a quick bench on 3DMark05, got a lowly score of 3239 with 6600GT at stock speed. I think it's asking for OC.

RYANT, AFAIK that's the latest official release. I think there are some Beta's around but the 1-25 should be good to go.

Will the fortron 530 psu work with the DFI ultra d or should i stick
with OCZ modstream 450?

Fortron 530 - $79

OCZ 450 - $89

Does anyone know if the SATA ports from the SI 3114R will support single devices like SATA DVD writers...or will it only work in RAID mode?

I don't know the answer to your question. However, just wanted to mention that the SATA ports supplied via SI 3114 aren't locked, afaik. So if you plan on overclocking, you should probably avoid these ports.

The SI 3114R, is on the PCI bus. So, are you saying that there is no lock on the PCI bus on this board?

According to Silicon Image (the maker of the chip), it will work with ATAPI devices (CD/DVD drives). http://www.siliconimage.com/products/product.aspx?id=28

Thanks Dan...in looking at the link you posted, I suppose I could just install the regular SATA driver instead of the RAID driver since I don't plan to run RAID on this controller. Going to put the RAID on the nVidia SATA II. 🙂

The ultra-d is on sale for $150 at newegg. Im thinking of getting it, do you think its worth it?

Edit: its at zipzoomfly for $155, but its not on sale.

Don't take my word for it because I don't personally own one, but this seems to definately be THE S939 board to get now, so yes.

Two questions: what is the MSRP for the ultra-d?

Im not going to buy the rest of my computer until next thuresday, so is it worth getting the Ultra-d now at $149, or waiting until next thuresday?

I have a SATA drive to install to get Windows on it. Is all I need the "SATA RAID" floppy to install windows on it?

hmm the floppy seems to only be for RAID. I don't see any driver for SATA drives. do i need to download it off the net?

got mine running finally 🙂 got to tweak somethings though but thats besides the point 😛

oh and that little jumper grabber is in all models.

CONGRATS! DEMO, Let us know how she flies. I'm still waiting on my psu from PCPower & Cooling. Heads up to anyone thinking of using them, I ordered late on the third,(along with rest of system) got e-mail on the fourth saying they were out would ship on the eighth, tried tracking today & got nothing, called & they said it shipped on the tenth(due the 18th!) supposed to call back with working tracking #, still waiting. They charge an arm & a leg for their psu's & then want the other pair if you ship other than Fed-x ground(Charge about double for that compared to what New Egg gets for Express). If I'd known it would take 5 busniess days just to get out the door I would have done something different. By the time I get it & find out there's a prob with something I'll be down to dealing with the manufacturers(Weeks).🙁 I'm dyin' here.

the price of this board seems to be stabilizing quickly, at least compared to the asus.

I was wondering if anyone had this installed on a super lanboy. I was concerned whether or not the karajan module is able to fit under the 120mm fan (I know the centurion had issues).

yeah this thing is pretty quick. Im actually posting from it 🙂 Been installing windows updates and random programs you gotta have to live by 😉 and I hardly noticed when the windows updates finshed its rounds 😛 Love it so far! Just waiting to make sure its stabilized then Ill go and get the memory at decent timings. At the moment its on auto which set my DDR500 Ballistix to of course DDR400 but at 2-3-3-8 not exactly good timings unless that was DDR500 😛 temps seem to have stabilized to. Was a bit high at first. Its a 90nm 3500 was doing about 38cish. seems to have gone down more towards the 34c mark 🙂

when I get the memory at its best setting Ill come back to ask for some programs to run and tell you guys the results 🙂

Tell me how you do with the PC4000 Ballistix in terms of timings at DDR400. I want to be able to run them at 2-2-2-5.
