My board is working great now with the 2-1 Bios. I will post some overclocking results in a little bit.

The UltraD comes with SATA adapters correct? (for those without native SATA support on PSU)

I'v run into a problem i'd not even considered. The PCB of the sound module is pretty tall and my 120mm fan on my Cooler master centurion 5 interferes with it. Is it safe to cut away at the frame of the fan to make it fit? Everything else is looking good, I have a Zalman 7000alcu installed and it fits.

I just got mine from ZipZoomFly and the on board power and reset switches were also smashed. Luckily they weren't broken, just mangled a bit. It took me an hour to get the teensy tiny pieces back together and the cover on over them. Other than that the board looks ok. The problem lies in the audio board being packaged on top of those little reset switches. That's a stupid place to put it, there just isn't room there. I don't think this is Zipzoom fly's fault, it's just poor packaging design from DFI.

If only my CPU and power supply would show I'll be all set. Should be Friday, I'm in for a weekend of geek joy. :)

I was wanting to look on the CD for the complete manual but my current system says it can't read it. What's up? Does it have to be on the ultra board to be read?

So for beginners, is this a hard board to get optimized? I have never built a PC, and I would rather not want to have to a lot of troubleshooting from the get-go. Also, I do not plan to OC hardly at all.

Some folks have had probs with Asus too. That's always going to be true of any new board design. Asus has a more complete website. I'm not a mad overclocker either but I figure using a board that's built for them should = stability & dependability for me.

Thanks Tyson95. I wonder why I couldn't find it?

Yeah, my fan is touching the sound modual but it's ok.

I had that problem too. Just open the CD in and go to the manual directory and open the LP NF4.pdf

UPDATE on previous problems: I got my board working finally. (after working on it all day. It seems it was a memory incompatibility issue. (the new BIOS may fix that but I'm not going to use the Kingston memory on this system anyway) I put some OCZ 3500 EL in and it works fine. The Kingson 3200 HyperX didn't work well at all. VERY flaky. Never got it to boot on a previous install or install Windows.

Have those issues with Kingston 3200 HyperX been confermed on multiple boards??

I just got some when it was on sale, with the hope of using it in the Ultra-d, i really hope i don't have to get a different board :(.

Yeah, I got it on sale too. Hopefully the new bios will take care of it for you. It mentions something about fixing non-booting memory issues.

...geek joy.:)

Mine should be here (from monarch) tomorrow. Now I'm nervous. I hope the shipper was/is being gentle.

Oh and I left the last part of your statement in there cuz it made me laugh.

Thanks,

3. Yes. It is the onboard speaker. Should I connect this? With what?

4. I am speaking about the right position of each of them. "Where is the red cable, right or left" etc

1. You'll find if you look closely at the connector and the socket theres only one way the connector can physically go in. This is by leaving 4 pins free at one end of the 24 pin socket open and lining up the clip on the socket and the plug. Youll notice that the clip on the socket isnt in the socket's exact centre.

3. Its an onboard speaker. It just is. Theres nothing to plug, it beeps when it must. It beeps when the jumper is connected. Sometimes it does long beeps. Sometimes it does short beeps. You never know. I think youll find that the standard for onboard speakers. :)

4. Pass. I officially have no clue what you're talking about.

Thanks ryant.
I just connected my 20 pin + 4pin (HD type) + Floppy type and I leaved free the +4 pins of the 24pin motherboard' connector.
It seems that it is working OK.
So I believe that I have not to buy a 20 to 24 pin adaptor, isn't it?
What about the connector for speaker that is in the same place as the the connectors for the power, Hd, etc leds?

In reference to the DFI LanParty UT nf4 Ultra-D

I noticed that ZipZoomFly has lowered the price to $164 shipped and NewEgg has lowered the price to $159 shipped (someone may have mentioned this above already). I couldn't resist and ordered 1 fro NewEgg just a few minutes ago :) I saw a thread (maybe this one) mentioning that any Ultra-D purchased before 2/20/05 could still be modded into a SLI. Can any confirm that the ones on NewEgg right now are gonna be able to do this?

-Thanks

Considering the three cases I've heard of that indicate that the DFI arrangment of components within the package is less than optimal, and the on-board power and reset switches can get mashed, could you report back one way or another and let us know what shape your board is? Maybe DFI should be notified if this is a common occurrence.

Ok, I got my board yesterday, and I have several questions setting this board up:

1) In the manual, on the page describing the power connectors, it shows four connectors. Do all four of these connectors need to be hooked up, or just the 24-pin one? The manual wasn't very clear on this matter.

2) I'm using a Seasonic Super Tornado 400w, and it includes a 3-pin fan controller. Which 3-pin on the DFI do I hook this up to?

3) I'll have two fans (one CPU, one rear 120mm case fan). If I want to be able to adjust fan speeds for these, will the BIOS allow me to do so if I attach these two to the MB, or do I have to get one of those Fanmates?

4) Has anyone tried the onboard sound? Is it adequate enough for gaming and listening to MP3's? Or do I need to buy a soundcard for decent quality?
