There are all kinds of exploits. You can get past the first 2 phases solo by doing certain things. You can get people across the bridge by having three of them leave and rejoin and other stuff like that. Warlocks can use self revive at a certain spot to cheese an area too.

This is why Bungie would not release hard mode right away.

Even without cheesing it, once you know the fights, it doesn't take long. I PUG'd it up to Ir Yut and it took like 2 hours tops, with a few wipes.

VoG normal takes less than 30 minutes.
 
So it is seriously 30mins? Or is that with a team that's done it a bunch of times and can blaze through it?

I know when I do the daily missions I jump over all the mobs and can beat most missions in about 5 minutes, but that's not what it was like when I played the campaign the first time.
 
The first encounter (lamps) you are literally running the entire time. It takes like 5 minutes if you don't wipe. The second, takes a bit longer, but again, isn't that long. You just have to not wipe. The third has to be finished in less than 3 minutes or you wipe anyway. Crota could take longer, but still not that long. There isn't a lot of walking in the raid outside of the first area.
 
My buddy and I did lamps, bridge, and Ir Yut last night. Got shards from lamps, shards (and raid boots for my friend, that dick) from bridge, shards from the second chest that is on a timer, and I guess Ir Yut drops zilch.

Yeah Ir Yut drops nothing but you double up from crota...for some reason.

New problem too. In VoG you had a billion shards but couldn't get gear to drop. Now you get gear easily but shards are going to be overly rare. So I wager a lot of people will be sitting on raid gear waiting on radiant shards.

Daily heroics are actually just story missions, not strikes (though I don't really see much difference between story missions and strikes sometimes). It's just a random mission that you've probably played already before.

If you are level 28-30, they are pretty easy at the highest level.
 
Just got Husk of the Pit. Step one to getting Necrochasm Exotic Assault Rifle. Need Eris rank 3 to buy Embalming orb and kill loads of hive with it to upgrade it to the Legendary Eidolon Ally. I don't know how many Hive I need to kill, the game doesn't say. I just know that 4 kills barely moved the marker on the orb that tells me how close to upgrade it is. Then need to get Crux of Crota from HM Crota's End to finalize the upgrade.

Finally killed crota today nice and smooth.

Have all of the 32 gear and half of the shards for my hunter.

Hopefully I'll clear on my soon to be 31 warlock too.

And for my 27 titan it's going to be a long and annoying week of iron banner. Hope I get enough shards for 32 next week.

Got the hammer today too!
 
I haven't even bothered with CE yet. I am just not interested in it. I think it comes down to what happened with VoG. It was fun to do it the first few times. Then it became a chore to get gear. "OK its Tuesday. Better do a VoG run because I need boots." Crota's End substitutes shards and energy for gear though. So its the same thing, you will be hoping to get more shards. I am spending most of my time doing bounties and trying to level Eris rank which seems to take absurdly long. I'm just trying to put off the grind of CE as long as I can.
 
Is it true that when you do the VoG, the gear and weapons are not the upgraded ones? Meaning not the weps that start off at 300, etc?
