Is the interior not going to suck?

Now I cant tell if you meant that as a joke or not, but we all know you're a big fan of the Elise (as am I), and the interior of the Elise is quite spartan and sucky too. So it's not really fair for you go "neener" at another car's interior sucking when one of your favorite car's interior isnt all that good to begin with. Unless you've openly admitted that the Elise's interior is lacking (I've never seen that here).

The Elise doesn't cost $100k though.

the Elise doesnt have 600 hp either.

The Elise doesn't need it either.

You sure about that?

Nice try, but that's an early Elise with the 1.8 litre Rover K series engine, not a current car.

EDIT: OK, so the Elise is apparently a 'race spec', but 'apparently' the Corvette is too. I wizzed the video on and at 8:40 the Elise driver is being held up and gets along side the Corvette. It's hardly spanking it away from the Lotus, now, is it? I think all that video proves is that the Elise is a contender, not that it is lacking. :D

It was also a C5 Corvette with the 345, not the current 430,505, or 625HP engines, nor the handling improvements they made. So neither are current cars by the same degree. If the Elise is being held up, he didn't do a very good job at staying close. Every time the track opened up a bit the 'vette disappeared.

My point being, the Elise won't keep up with a ZR1. Even though it is a great car.

Positive. Go drive one and then get back to me. I've never driven another car that was so communicative with the driver than the Elise. It's a pure driver's car.

BTW-The Elise in that video was able to carry a lot more speed through the corners than that Vette was and the sounds it makes are pure sex. :p

EPA-estimated fuel economy of 14 city and 20 highway

Wow, finally, a car that can beat my motorcycle 0-60. Still, my bike cost $6500 OTD and gets 48 mpg city. ;)

I have a 3,700 lb car from 2003 that could do the job, with a PC in the back seat that I don't have to worry about getting wet ;) Only half the MPG though.

I'm not sure we were both watching the same video... It DID keep up, until the very long straight. Horsepower, as I'm sure you are aware, is all about how much work can be completed in a period of time. The Cx(whatever it is) clearly is able to do more 'work' down the long straight, but until that point, it had nothing. The Elise actually caught it up as the C was quite a way ahead in the first few corners.

Also, the Elise of that era will have either 118hp or 143hp, so if the C has 'only' 345hp then I guess that explains everything... :p

Being a Corvette, it will still suck, and the only females you'll be able to get with it will be toothless hussies.

On the other hand, it should be more fun than a hussy with teeth, so you may not mind too much.

Nobody said it would. There is more to a car than straight line speed. I said the Elise doesn't need 600hp because it doesn't. The car is simply a blast as it is. More HP certainly isn't necessary and it would probably come at the cost of more weight.

Edit-How did this become a thread about the Lotus Elise anyway?

I'm sure that one of the cars being a race car has something to do with it...

The Elise might hang with the C5 in the tighter parts of the track, but in the larger radii corners it will get left behind.

That's a C5, and undoubtedly not stock. A race prepped Elise should have embarassed a C5 around that course, as the C5 by sports car standards is a pretty poor handling vehicle. The Vette was just leaving the Elise for dead in the straights too.

That said, the Z06 is comfortably faster than an Exige S around a more typical track and more usable as an everyday car on top of that:
2007 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 vs. 2007 Lotus Exige S vs. 2007 Porsche 911 GT3

The ZR1 should simply punish the Lotus around any track that isn't an autocross course in a mall parking lot.
