Does the engine really need a Dry-sump oiling system?

yes, with high lateral g forces on some turns on track, you do not want oil starvation on that kinda engine. Also, dry sump allows the engine to be set lower if the engineers so decide.

Forget the Ford GT?

No I didn't. But if the specs are correct, this car will outperform a GT. The GT is terific car no doubt, but I think this Vette will be better. Its lighter with just as much power and all the glory of one the best handling and braking cars in the world.

Just because it's relatively light and powerful doesn't mean it will do great around a course.

EDIT: Come on, people, I was just pointing out that light + powerful doesn't necessarily mean good lap times. Jeez.

You scooped me bro! I was just about to post something and then thought that I'd do a search.

This should be it. I am a little disappointed though. I was hoping for more agressive seats and a more agressive looking nose. I hate the bottom part of the grille with the cheesy fog/driving lights. They should've at least gave us a harness pass through if they weren't going to bolster the seats better.

Here's a more direct link to the photos btw..

Huh? Dude the Vette is one the best handling cars in the world. Period.

flexible bumpers = less damage on minor fender benders
new school TRANSVERSE leaf spring rear susp..not like longitudinal truck leaf springs

while the concept of the rear suspension is the old school part, it performs and works beautifully. Just because something is old school based, doesn't mean it aint' good. The corvette is high performance, not necessarily hi-tech.

That's laughable. The C5 Z06 eats just about everything at the track, even the Viper. Now that the Z06 has Viper power, there should be no contest.

I know that the idea of leaf springs seem old fashioned, but there is nothing old fashioned about the composite leaf springs used on the Z06. I think I'd rather have a body piece absorb an impact than crack. What's old fashioned about Carbon Fiber body panels and aluminum frames?

The Z06 just might own the Ford GT, ergo owning the Ferrari 430.

Blasphemy! 😛 Nothing will ever beat the sound... 😀

But damn that is one pretty car... mmmmmmm... 🙂

Oh, but the top is the dash board is plastic. I just could never be seen in a car with the top of the dash board being plastic.

The shame. All my neighbors will push on the rear bumper and see that it gives under pressure and I'll laughed out of the neighborhood.

But it's domestic, it can't be any good.

Pretending to channel Jeremy Clarkson, huh? Oh, wait, you couldnt have been, because there wasnt any b!tching about leaf springs 😛

the Z06 would be even prettier if it had flip-up lights...but it doesn't...so it's not THAT good. I don't care if it did -60 in 10nanoseonds, no flip up lights make mAdD mad.

i'm willing to bet that the 7L V8 will sound just as good as the Ferrari.

*Sigh* So many morons, so little time....

Probably the best thread on the internet about this subject since the entire "OMG!!! T3h corvette has leaf springs!!! WTF??? Mullet, mullet!!!" phenomenon started due to some biased british auto tester deciding to open his mouth and show everyone how stupid he was. Oh, and it's on a Honda forum.

I was (am) an import nut and bought the Z06 on a whim after test driving it. I was looking at BMW M3's. I've had the car for nearly 2 years now with 16K miles and not one problem. I frequently take it to the track as well and hammer the crap out of it. I agree with the statement about the build quality of typical GM cars, but this isn't your typical GM car.

No. This car doesn't sound like a Ferrari, but the Ferrari doesn't sound like a healthy V8 either. I like the way that both cars sound. They are different is all. If you want to nail something on its sound, go after the Viper. The Viper looks like it should sound like a thunderous V8 and it doesn't. The first time I heard a Viper, I was really disappointed. For those of you that have heard one, you know what I'm talking about.
