These "big games" never deliver lol.

you're right, ut vs. ou didn't deliver, and ut vs. tech didn't deliver. both were called "game of the season" at the time they occured.

I knew someone was going to call me out on those when I hit reply.

I won't bother trying to argue cause you're right (good games).

real classy move by ou leaving their starters in for 4th quarter when they're up 50 points.

they're blowing them out to reach the ncg over texas and tt and help with the bcs standing

blowing them out isn't going to change voters who put texas over them because of the head-to-head.

where is that Wreckem guy who wouldn't shut up about how tech was going to win tonight?

not when you have a situation like this
Texas beat OU
Tech beat Texas
OU beat Tech
who knows?

If you don't understand football please stay out of football threads. With 3 teams tied for the lead in the Big 12 South the BCS standings are key, the standings are driven by polls and the polls are greatly influenced by margin of victory. A 50 point win is worth far more than a 20 point win and might mean the difference between a national title shot and a lesser bowl.

Who says Alabama will play like they did against LSU? Completely different situation playing UF on a neutral field at the Georgia Dome than playing LSU at Baton Rouge. LSU has also essentially given up after their loss to Bama and they are out of the running for everything. They almost lost to Tulane last week.

That's Troy State. LSU was very lucky last week, couldn't get that lucky again vs. SEC team today.

D'oh, you're right. Got my T teams mixed up.

OU also has a better non conference strength of schedule.

That doesn't make it classy...

The problem is in the system, as it encourages classless play.

no one wants the ACC championship.

if floriduh state mans up and beats floriduh next week, and then floriduh beats bammer, we could have texas and ou in miami

edit: goddamnit when the hell did cincinnati go and get itself ranked? fscking big east.

edit2: rice better win the frickin' cusa

yes, and the only words to it are 'boomer sooner.'

Jevon Snead is a good quarterback. Very underrated. I think he was ranked 3rd in the country for quarterback position out of h.s
we're pretty familiar with him here at texas. he's not that good. of course, a so-so second stringer in the big xii is probably tops in the sec.

if fsu beats florida, and florida beats bama, and mizzou beats the big12 south opponent, that leaves PSU and either utah or boise for the ncg 🙂

all of the big12 south would be out since none of them won their conference, florida would be a two loss team and out, bama would not be a conference champ, usc would not be a conference champ...

personally i just want to see a rosebowl that isn't a repeat of the regular season, and while they are some pretty unlikely series of events, PSU is still in it for the NCG, which makes me happy.

you don't have to win your conference

the only qualification for getting into the bcs title game is to be 1st or 2nd in the final bcs poll.

Officially, no. In the eyes of the pollsters, yes.

I think Oregon State loses to Oregon next week.

For the sake of college football, and everyone not wanting to see such a shitty team in the rose bowl, I sure hope so.

people are used to seeing shitty big-10 teams in the rose bowl anyway, psu/osu would actually be a good matchup (osu is much better than when they met early in the season)

i guarantee i know more about football than you. you'll see it today. brad edwards' projected bcs standings has texas #2.

as far as the "3 way tie" in the big 12 south, it's not a 3 way tie. it's between ou and texas. the determining factor is will voters vote for who won the red river rivalry or who is the "hot" team.

btw, anyone hear mike leach's quote after the game? he actually had the audacity to say no one has ever had to play a tougher 3 game stretch, LOLOLOLOL. i guess he forgot when texas played a harder 4 game stretch and didn't have a bye week separating games.

Its not a three way tie until OU beats Okie State. If Okie state beats OU(they are playing in stillwater), it'll be UT to the NCG and Tech to the Big 12 title game.

UT doesnt have to worry about the polls. Tech is still beating OU in several of the computers.

As for me, well, its obvious the Tech defense that played last night played no where near what they had been playing. Even if they played like the did against UT and Okie State we probably would have lost, but that was classic Tech D from several years ago. I've seen seen less missed tackles in a Jr Highschool football game. Tech isnt as bad as that game made them appear, they just had a horrible game in Norman. It was often the 5 or 6th guy to touch a guy that actually ended up tackling.

I was waiting for Carter to body slam on OU player. The only two Tech players to play with emotion were Elf and Carter.

As a Bruin, nothing would please me more than to see USC relegated to the Holiday Bowl.

It's called playing against the No. 1 scoring offense in the country.

sagarin rankings are the only ones out:

1 Texas 3
2 Texas Tech 1
3 Alabama 2
4 Oklahoma 6
5 Utah 4
6 Oklahoma State 8
7 Florida 5
8 Penn State 10
9 Georgia 7
10 USC 9

and the domers losing this week means texas should go ahead next week when notre lame plays usck. add in a big 12 title win and a bowl win and we could be 3 games ahead of the domers by the end of the season. 😀

and the way michigan is going maybe we can catch them by the end of the next decade too 😀
