Nice to see BYK and Ortiz have a nice game today, although the outcome wasn't what I would've liked to see.
Next up: The New York Balcos, tomorrow afternoon, 1:00PM, NESN.

Ortiz is gunna tear it up this season. He's been on fire. I love that he plays winter ball and keeps his swing sharp.

BTW, 3 weeks till Opening Day! w00t!

SEASON OPENER TONIGHT! Pedro takes the hill vs. Ponson and the O's. It's a celebration, bitches! Thank God the games are going to count from here on out!😀

Get the fvck out of this thread Popper. This is for Sox fans, don't need you crapping in it.

Nice rangey play by Pokey!

Ugh, Pedro is looking AWFUL right now...

It would be nice if I can even see it, WHICH I CAN'T. DAMN you mlb.com TV blackout restrictions. I curse you greedy chiselers to hell!!!

well, Pedro settled down, but double plays are killing them. And I hate the shift. (I knew that was going to happen when I first saw it... ughed it in a chat before Palmeiro ever got that hit). The shift was something Grady used a lot that I always hated. The shift just doesn't work.

161-1 isn't going to be a bad record. 😛
Between the UConn game, Soprano's, and Sox, I needed 3 picture-in-pictures. Thank God the sports bar I was at had everything covered.

1 game in 2004, 1 victory. Can't wait for opening day!!!

Boston's Martinez has poor first outing

BALTIMORE -- Pedro Martinez quickly learned that these aren't the same old punchless Baltimore Orioles.

Javy Lopez homered and drove in three runs, and fellow newcomers Rafael Palmeiro and Miguel Tejada both had two hits to lead the Orioles over the Boston Red Sox 7-2 Sunday night in Lee Mazzilli's first game as Baltimore's manager.

Martinez experienced an uncharacteristic lapse in control while yielding three second-inning runs. The Red Sox fell behind the New York Yankees (1-1) in the AL East for the first time this season by virtue of the opening-night loss.

Red Sox will be damn good, I wouldn't worry too much about a loss on opening day. I WOULD worry about Pedro though, he sure did not look like his old self. Should be a fun season.

<--Yankee fan.

Yeah, I saw most of the game, and Pedro didn't look like himself. I'm sure the cold weather had something to do with it, but it's no excuse. When we get everyone healthy and off the DL, and when the weather finally warms up (it was 28°F here in CT this morning), I'm sure they'll be right up there with the Yanks fighting it out for 1st place, but can't count out the O's either, they're flying under the radar, they can be damn good.

The O's have NO pitching, I wouldn't worry.

The Cubs will beat you in the World Serise & than I will laugh at you! I shall not return to this thread untill my prophecy comes true.

javy javy javy... i cant believe that clown is gonna be hooking it up again this year.. i thought he was playing last year cause he was worried about the end of his contract... but watching him play yesterday, he really is a much better player... watching his swing, his patience, and even his catching is just incredible now.. too bad he left the braves...
