This is roughly totality for us

So I stood outside my office around 1:15 p.m. local time (the news folk said the max effect (around 75%) would be around 1:17 p.m.) and then I waited and waited and waited.

Nuthing. Did not feel or see anything different. The sun maybe was a bit less bright IMO but that was about it. Maybe because of the cloud?

I hope the folks that spent all of those big bucks for hotels and travel cost have better luck/return for their money.

Yes ,it's way past. It was only a partial eclipse at about 82% IIRC. Saw some glimpses earlier and projected it on a piece of paper with my binocular.
Wish I went to Carbondale, but it's a 4 3/4 hour trip.

could have just watched the nasa youtube feed.

All done here. Pretty cool, 98% coverage. The sun was definitely less intense but it didn't get dark. All my pic attempts were fail.

82% was pretty surreal. There was no cloud to dim the sun. I didn't have to squint and I didn't feel the blazing heat on my skin like usual.

Wonder what the animals think.

Pretty lame in MD. The clouds mostly stayed away, but the air was murky. Didn't get that dark with ~80% coverage, but the temperature drop was noticeable. Glad I didn't have to pay anything.

Superb in SC, full coverage, went straight to 8pm sleepy time mode, street lights were on for like three minutes. Very impressive experience, I get why people chase it around the world.

91% partial eclipse is very underwhelming. It wasn't nearly as dark out as I had thought it would be. The coronal view was non-existent. 3 out of 10, would not see again.

All done here. Going to process my pictures and post later. First, I need to eat something.

It actually worked out nice since I could just do it in my back yard and I had shade to go in. Still recovering from my trip down south so avoiding direct sunlight as best as I can. 😛

Even when it was winking (inbound or outbound) that tiny smidge is like a 500mw laser to the eye. You really don't see the effect until it's a full eclipse, then it's full-on goat worship and human sacrifice.

~60% in New Hampshire - bleh. Saw a near total in 1970 (99%?) from Rhode Island. My wife will have to wait till 2024 for a shot at the next one...

It's the Eye of Sauron 😱

I wasn't really going to bother with trying to take a decent picture since it was only around for a couple of minutes. That's just the result of setting the brightness as low as the phone would go and just taking whatever picture it would take.

Totally lame in MD. Was hot for most of the time, still quite bright throughout, but did notice the temperature drop. Looked through fancy glasses. eh, I've seen better. 😀

I was trying to recall why there was such a big fuss about the eclipse I saw in 2012, in the Bay Area, and looking it up, it's because it was an annular eclipse. Looks a lot like a total eclipse, but it isn't. You still get the ring effect. It was something like 98 or 99% where I was, and it certainly got quite dark for a moment. Amazing the difference from 89% (barely noticeable) to 98% to totality when it comes to light. Hell, dark clouds (and Persian arrows) blot out the sun way better than 89% moon coverage!

Funny, I hope they don't get any return on their money. This whole thing was idiotic from the get-go, who could be excited about it getting dark for a little while? And not even dark, *slightly* darker. We were in the 70-75% zone and it was like a cloud passed in front of the sun for 10 minutes. Maybe the people who traveled to see it will learn something from their disappointment.

I drove 2 hours non-stop to Carlinville , IL , I55 exit 11 , pulled into the Waffle House parking lot @ 1202 , went in and ate , and then hung out watching till it passed. was supposed to be 98% there , pretty impressive ! Sorry , no pics , but I do have a sore neck 😀
