Well...gas stations are reported to be running out of gas/diesel...and I'm sure the snack situation is getting dire...

There we go. Rent a couple of tanker trucks, fill one with gas and the other with beer. When people get desperate enough they'll pay $50 a gallon for either one.

Wow, it's still 3 days out and gas shortages popping up already?. Around here in central FL they are selling "eclipse glasses" for $79 for 2 pair, we're not even close to the totality, but the amount of people trying to ca$h in is nutty.

Latest update from NOAA:

The total solar eclipse is now less than three days away. Here is the afternoon update on the cloud cover forecast for Monday afternoon Aug. 21. Along the path of totality, the Pacific Northwest into the central Plains as well as southern Appalachians continue to be good places for eclipse viewing (top figure). Meanwhile, the southeastern U.S. will be near a weakening stationary front, where showers and thunderstorms are possible (bottom figure). Other parts of the country from the Ohio Valley into New England should have great weather for viewing a partial eclipse (80% near Washington D.C. down to 50% in Maine). However, the best chance of rain remains over the upper Midwest where two frontal boundaries are forecast to merge.

Went back to rainy here, probably going to miss out. Oh well, I still want to take pictures of the sun with the welding glass I bought, since never tried it before.

Things are clearing up here, might get lucky!

Either way I'm kinda excited to try to take pictures of the sun, so if I don't get the eclipse I still want to try out my setup. Basically just putting welding glass over my telephoto lens.

I also want to get some pre-eclipse photos. I presume the moon is going to look kinda neat as it gets closer to the sun, probably a very thin crescent. Or will you even see it?

Test that setup on a piece of paper and a thermometer before you put your eye near it.

Anyone having issues with stream? It seems to cut off. I assume it's from too much traffic, but my Firefox has been TERRIBLE in the past month. It's so slow, can barely type this. So maybe it's just me. Might have to switch to my windows machine.

Firefox has been terrible for about 3 years now, not just the past month.

Lol true. But just seems to have suddenly gotten even worse lately to point where just typing is choppy.

About 20 minutes before eclipse starts here. Sun screen applied, tripod is out and ready to go. Going to swap glass for #12 though.

Stream works on my android 7 phone in dolphin browser...

Anyone watching the coverage on ABC? What's up with all their anchors looking at the eclipse without glasses?

i've been taking a phone pic every min or so using a telescope projection (dfw)

it's cooled down a bit and its dimmer all around
