Name: Hop Stoopid
Brewery: Lagunitas
Type of Beer: IPA
Score 7/10
ABV: 8%
Review: I was pretty surprised by this one. I picked up some for a friend who is outside the distribution range and I bought one for myself to try it. For being 120 IBU I was expecting to get raped by hops but I was pleasantly surprised. True, it is definitely a hoppy beer, but it had a much more pleasant flavor than say Bell's Hop Slam, which is just offensively bitter. I still like it, but I couldn't have 2 in a row. I could easily have a few of these and still enjoy it.
edit: let's keep this thread alive! I recently went on a 3F Black Sun Stout pillaging across two states and came up with 16+ bottles of it!![]()
Unfortunately the last store I found had 16 more but they were in the cooler case![]()
Any one have recommendations for something easier than Blue Moon
Define "easier" .. ?
Name: Cream Stout
Brewery: Sam Adams
Type of Beer: stout
Score: 10/10
Review. Very good. Picked it up today as part of a "make your own six-pack" at a local beer store. Not too hoppy, not too sweet, just right. Very smooth.
Well I guess easier was the wrong word. My main issue with Blue Moon is that it's too watery for me :\
too watery?? and how does "easier" mean less watery?
if you want a pussy beer, which it sounds like you do, try long trail blackberry wheat, its like fucking juicy juice
Once again, I should not have used the word "easier". I was asking for recommendations for beer that wasn't so light. God damn you even quoted me saying that...![]()
Any recommendations? (im in CA so no three floyds)
Ive been wanting to get into stouts, but have been having a hard time finding my "flavor". I have found that imperial stouts are a quick road out of sober-town.
Sierra Nevada Porter - A sham. it was more of a "porterish" beer than an actual porter. The color was a see-through brown instead of the solid almost-black im used to. the taste was watery and lacking in flavor. i got none of the toffee notes that the label promised. i suppose there was a reason it was on sale. 3.7/10.
