I have not yet watched episode 187, but 186 was definitely still filler. It was about a mission where Naruto and Shino were supposed to help a guy who stood to inherit a fortune if he could keep from laughing at the memorial service.

Out of all the places I visit, other web bulletins boards, blogs and whatnot, this must be the one and only place where people seem to be strangely shy to go nuts, or even talk about SOS Dan. Perhaps a.f.k. would realize one day that they shouldnt have gone with 640x360 encoding for a show of this caliber. I can confidentely say outloud that this is THE SHOW of the year, or even past few years. Why stop there, one of the best shows I have seen in my lifetime if not THE BEST. If the show lacks anything at all, please let me know.

And of course, Higurashi no Naku Koro also gets nothing but rave reviews all over the net. Not really a suprise, but ATOT is rather slow at catching up with the state of the art in anime. Then again, the rest of the board is full of haters that are constantly in need of venting out their anti-asian hatred, so I must be grateful this thread is big alive and kicking :frown:

Hehe, indeed, both of those shows (Haruhi and Higurashi) are incredibly good, and probably my two favorites in a season with a lot of good shows.

Also up there are Black Lagoon, Jyu Oh Sei, Ouran and TOKKO. Good stuff all around!

haruhi bugged me with jumping around in the story so much. i've been gathering a backlog of episodes to consider watching them in order. at least my wife said that she would prefer to watch them in that order than in the order in which they aired.

i haven't really looked into higurashi.

Does anyone know where to get Haruhi outside of BT? Newsgroups only have the most recent episode, and they're a pain to find on IRC.

worth watching...

shuffle! ...26 - cute, fun to watch

speed grapher ...26 - incredibly well done, probably in my top 3

KGNE ...13 - classic, top 3 also. if you haven't heard of it, then uh-

witchblade ...being subbed. too early to tell, but has a lot of potential

trinity blood ...dunno only have up to 20 - enjoying it so far, plenty of action, character dev

gankutsuou ... i forget - loosely based on Dumas' Count of Monte Cristo; how can you go wrong with that?

basilisk ...dunno, only have to 18 - i guess if you like ninja scroll, you'll like this

damn i need some RAWs to sub ;(

i downloaded shuffle and watched the first few episodes, but i haven't continued. i'm holding onto it and will probably watch it eventually.

i stopped speed grapher after a few episodes. it wasn't for me.

i watched KGNE. not bad.

i've watched the four episodes of witchblade that i've found. not bad. it has potential. the character design is a little cartoony.

haven't watched trinity blood, gankutsuou, or basilisk.

A bit off topic. But is there any good website where you could learn yourself japanese? Any books you would recommend?

True, the anime is paced with a bit of twist, more of a surprise gift to those who are familiar with the book (at least the first one). Being new to the material, you may find this quite confusing. If interested, you could trying reading the novel in the link I have previously provided. It really is worth it, one of the better NT novels I have read, and which is why I predicted this would be the best show of the year if done right.

You could tell they are trying to be creative and all, but another good reason for mixing up the order is due to the fact that the series is expected to be no longer than 14 episodes in total, and the contents of the first book would only cover half of that at most. Incidentally, the anime show is mainly about the first book, and you would rather save the most dramatic moments till the last episode, wouldnt you? ;) In case you are determined to see the show in proper chronological order, just go by the episode #s haruhi yells out at the next episode preview sessions (notice how they are different from kyon's "corrections")

If you had to classify Higruashi, it would be a psycho thriller. They really know how to spook the crap out of people

As for Shuffle!, I found it annoying and lackluster for the most part until they hit eps19 and Kaede starts going nuts. The whole point of watching the show was Kaede, and it actually was unbelievably good for those few episodes (19-21). Other than that, I gave it a meh rating :p

kiminozo threw me off with the crappy ending, but it really did ride peoples emotions all along, being dubbed as "the weekend soap opera fix" at the time of its airing. If you liked the show enough, perhaps you should proceed to check out Akane Maniax OVA as well.

10 days past and not a single response. what the hell, I will add a quick blurb :)

Utwararerumono eps 12. Touka vs Oboro and Touka vs Karura fights are very nicely done, as is usually the case with most individual battles in this series. Not Nagato vs Asakura good, but certainly not shabby at all by any standards. To be fair, I **seriously** doubt that there would be anything to topple that sequence with the two aliens anytime soon, just completely haruhigasmic  The only recurring complaint for utawarerumono is how their 3D rendered scenes are somewhat awkward. Havnt played the game yet, but the anime has convinced me that it would be a must have in my SRPG collection. What would be interesting to see is how they would add the element of humor once Touka defects to Hakuoro's side. I mean the game is known for its excellent humor, which the anime had almost none of thusfar.

bR, did you notice the MG reference in the beginning? that really made me LOL :D
haruhi's (or hirano aya's, for that matter) vocal in that episode is making a splash among the anime enthusiasts, possibly another sold-out album?

MG? I noticed HG though... I was tempted to buy the single... but I think I've spent enough for this month. Plus I'm going to AX this Saturday. :D

EDIT: Oh and check this out for the people that haven't already. Pretty cool if you're a fan of the show.
