Turbo cache models are far cheaper and comes only in PCI-e. Dumbass
That still gets owned by the 9600XT, Dumberass 😀

AGAIN, NO comparison since they?re not in the same price class. According to Froogle, the 6200 turbo cache models are far cheaper than 9600XTs. Try harder

Since I don't pay for the cards I receive, I have the luxury of making a decision without price being any sort of concern.

Why doesn't Ronin pay for cards?

Kristopher

I work for a game developer. Actually received 4 S18 Pro's today to play around with (not that they're high end by any means, but hey, at least S3 is still trying).

I have 1 question for M0RPH.

WWYBYWB? And if you weren't, I'd certainly like to see you take a vacation.

We're now down to just a little over 12 hours. These card launches are like...New Years parties or something..it's a trip.

You probably know the performance numbers don't you?????

Actually, no. ATi only confirmed to me some specific specs, but never provided a reference card (generally speaking, ATi has been fairly tight fisted when it came to pre-launch of any cards, in the 4 years I've been dealing with them, as compared to nVidia, where I've always gotten reference cards at least 3 weeks in advance).

The perf #'s will be as much a surprise to me as they are you come tomorrow.

Based on the tone of that post I take it you enjoy getting reference cards?

Reference cards give me a chance to see and play with the hardware before anyone else does. I can put it through it's paces, provide feedback to whomever provided the card(s) on various things (including, but not limited to, driver problems, IQ issues, etc), and for the most part, most retail cards are based off those designs, so I pretty much get what's out on the market however much time later.

Doesn't it ruin the sense of suspense and then surprise when you finally see the results?

I'll tell you. 6600GT sells for like $250 at Best Buy. If you assume that X1300XT would sell for $150 at BB, that's a $100 difference. Which one do you think Mr low end computer user is gonna choose?

BTW, this tells me that the 6600GT MSRP is probably $250, not $200.

It tells me people are stupid to not compare prices when you can get one at NewEgg for under $150.

Answer my question first then get to this guys 🙂

Supply and demand - I wouldnt want to buy a x1300 for $149 if I can have a 6600gt for $140, unless there are some new features to sway me over. I think we'll see the prices falling pretty fast on those x1300's, and $100-$110 seems like a good price for it.

Again, the 6600gt is in a class of it's own - it's plenty fast for the money, as long as you dont ask too much from it. If a low end x1600 becomes available for ~$170, that will pretty much spell the end of the 6600gt, as I doubt it can compete with one of those, but until then it still a good card for the money.

Sounds about right. What are the supposed specs of the X1600's again? My brain is getting tired. 🙂

12 pipes, somewhere around 400+ mhz.

Ha, expecting the low end card of this generation to beat the current mainstream offering, is too high an expectations.... Look at what we got,

Let me see

For Nvidia

Does Geforce FX 5200 beat Geforce 4 Ti4200?
Does Geforce 6200 beat Geforce FX 5700 Ultra/5900 XT?

Same with ATI

Does Radeon X300 beat Radeon 9600 XT
Does Radeon X1300 Pro beat X700 Pro

The low end is always extremely crippled. They are suppose to be super cheap offerings, hence the low pipeline counts.

I'm still shocked that a year old 6600GT 128 MB manhandles the panties off the more expensive and brand new X1300 PRO 256 MB. ATI got raped by old tech

here the 5500/256 is still selling for $154.99

you're telling me that joe sixpack takes a look at that, sees the x1300pro right next to it for the same price, and doesn't buy the pro?

$150 video cards at compussr

As I said, this launch is already a failure.

Its not a failure, if and I mean "IF" the cards are truly in the pipeline and will be available in the days to come. I have the same sentiment though, thats why I posted a thread about the availability benchmark. Its time to move past the paper launches and do what Intel and Nvidia has done, real product launches.
