I doubt I'd be the first person to mention this, but it's refreshing to see the level of communication being kept between a retailer and an online community such as AT.. With that being said, if someone was to preorder a retial X2 4400+ what would be their approximate queue in your pre-order line.. The next question which I'm sure you can't answer due to channel shortages, is if someone were to preorder now, is there any wide timetable set when one might expect to receive product.. About to build a new rig, looking at a dfi ultra-d a zalman cooler (7000hp, 7700hp, 9500hp) and maybe some other items.. What are your shipping charges like to Alaska? Do you ship via US postal service? Finally do you have a local telephone number which you can be reached..? I'm aware of the email, but apprehensive like most people to spend money at a business which does not have telephone contact information..
Thnx,

At last count, we are sitting at 87 pre-orders for X2's. From what I can tell, the biggest distributor is getting 1200 in, and only 318 are spoken for yet. The only issue we run into now is that we're stetching our business credit line. Since we aren't billing our customers until we ship, we have to buy all the processors outright on credit until we can actually ship them out... we've currently got ~$61,000 racked up (per distributor, we have orders in with all 4 major ones) and we're just about tapped out. We can't use NET terms with our distibutors yet since we're working under this new business name, so we're stuck using our credit cards to finance up front. I'm debating on using some our credit line from our other business side, but that's also stretched pretty thin with other obligations, and I'm not sure if it's even going to be possible.
So, right now, I think any new orders we receive are going to be going out about 4 days after the orders we've already got. That will allow us to ship the first batch, bill, clear our credit, and start again. So, whenever AMD finally gets these things out into the distribution channels, our first orders will ship, then 4 or 5 days later, we can start new ones. That's about as specific as I can get on an ETA for you right now.
Second, getting the DFI board, and the Zalman cooler shouldn't be a problem. Some of the Zalman coolers are hard to come by right now, but that's supposed to be resolved pretty quick. As far as shipping charges to Alaska, I'd have to check on that. We haven't ever had customers there, and we'd be happy to work with you, but I'd have to look into the logistics of it all. We primarly use UPS and Fedex, but can use the USPS if need be.
Finally, we do have a local number. However, typically if we have a customer who absolutely needs to talk to by phone, we'd rather they e-mail us with thier phone number so we can call them back. That way you don't have to pay the phone charges (seems wrong for a customer to pay the long distance I think), and secondly, we rarely have anyone manning the phone. I think you would be amazed at how efficient we are with our e-mail communication. Unlike some of the other places that use automated responders and might actually write you back in a few days, we usually get back to people within a few minutes. One of my sales guys, Erik, is freakishly fast. In fact, he often checks the messages from home in his spare time. He only works 8-5 but I've seen him respond to messages at 1am.
