It looks like AMD got the 512kb Manchesters out before the 1mb Toledos. I'm waiting on that 4400+ from them too...

Meh, $580 for the 4200+ is too much. I can only raise about $560, so I think the 4400+ is out for me. Still gotta make a trip to Ohio soon.

edit- that is unless anyone wants to buy a DFI Lanparty Pro 875B (s478) motherboard from me for $30

Wow, first the 4400+ was suppost to begin shipping today at Monarch. Then they pushed it back to the 24th, and now the 30th of June! It sucks that the chip everyone is waiting on is, from the look of things, going to be the last one shipping.

I'm loosing my patience... Now I just need to convince myself that I won't loose much from not having the full 1MB cache per core. :(

Don't get into that mind set there. You cross into the "Impulse buy" area, and then you end up suffering buyer's remorse later when you say to yourself, "If I had just waited a bit longer, I could have had the 1mb of cache..."

Patience is a virtue :)

my buyer's remorse would only last until the school year starts again. Since I probably won't notice the difference between a 4200+ and a 4400+ in real performance, it would probably make no difference which one I chose :p

I hear you, and I'm dealing with the same thing. I'm at the point of considering the 4600+ with the extra clock speed and higher price tag just 'cause it's available now (or so it seems). Eh, I'm still tempted to get a 3000+ and wait until prices fall...eventually I could get a 4800+ and part of me wanted to install on my S939 board the best damn X2 chip I possibly could.

I'm literally fighting myself over getting the San Diego 3700+ and using the extra money to go to 2 gigs (and I need it). Can't afford the 4600+ or it would've been ordered by me already :p

I would have big time buyer's remorse if I got the 3700+. Especially since I could use another core :(

Don't do it! I just cancelled an order I had for the 3700+ because the buyer's remorse was too big and already setting in (and this was before I knew as much as I do now, that the X2s are starting to appear). I need the dual core too because the primary use of my PC is Cubase SX 3 (a wonderfully multi-threaded professional audio-recording application). I need dual core, but I'm not certain I need it right now and I'm definitely gulping at spending $600 or more on it...

I'm definitely not getting a single core CPU, there would be way too much buyer's remorse, and while PSCS2 would run faster, I wouldn't see a lot of noticeable improvement in overall "smoothness" while multitasking. This stuff about the 4400+ not coming generally available for another half of a month really freakin sucks, though I envy the guy who got his from TigerDirect (of all places!). :(

Yeah, and I was going to order from tigerdirect if I had a little more money. Then when I get the money, they pulled the plug on their $545 4400+

Lol my 1st post was gonna be Newegg have them.

Beaten to it.

Ah well I got a 4400 anyway :)

Any idea if a Vantec (all copper) 7000 will be enough to cool this puppy?

Or should I go up to a 7700?

Well, sorry Monarch, but if you don't keep us informed on what's going on (where has MonarchJoe been?), you loose out. Newegg got my business this time, with an OEM 4400+ on its way tomorrow - if they haven't gone out of stock already, that is!

As far as what I've seen, only a few boards will take the X2's without a bios flash and the Neo2 isn't one of them. They haven't made an updated bios either, so I think you're going to be waiting on MSI's team on this one.
