Schefter reporting the Cowboys also signed CB Brandon Carr.

Chiefs are going to have to bring in a quarterback, I heard David Garrard, or maybe Chad Henne . I dont really like either but of the two I would go with Garrard, but I think I would go with just about anybody as long as I dont have to watch Matt Cassel next year.

Chiefs seem to be going with their typical free agent plan, wait for the top tier guys to sign somewhere, wait for the tier 2 guys to sign somewhere, then go after the tier 3 guys for the cheap.

Later games of the season were *MUCH* better for the line. He had as many sacks in the last five games as he did in *each* of the first 2. Line tightened up, but more importanty they went to a more balanced offense and not as many deep dropbacks by Cutler waiting for a play to develop that left him vulnerable.

If they go more west coast style with a new coordinator with short dink & dunks using the deep threat and run to keep defenses honest he'll fare much better. Marshall is a ball hogging possession guy so it's perfect for him. Forte is great out of the backfield and makes for a good safety valve checkdown.

Martz being gone will help them a lot. Go more simple, attack the middle and edges with your new aggressive receiver, give Forte more room to run. If Roy Williams is still undercontract maybe giving him more space with Marshall on the other side opens him up more too. Plus Bennett isn't a terrible WR and you still have Hester there for speed threats.

Getting rid of Martz definitely will help the O-Line, forgot that they did that, do they still have Roy 'hands of stone' Williams?

60 million guaranteed, lol. Would he have gotten that much on the open market? My God.

This is what he could have gotten if he didn't sign a long term contract:
"Johnson's $22 million cap figure for 2012 is much higher than the projected franchise tag number for receivers. So the alternative to signing Johnson to a long-term deal would be letting him play out the final year of his current contract in 2012 and then franchising him at $26.4 million in 2013. Without a deal at that point, Johnson's franchise tag would rise to $31.7 million for 2014 and would account for perhaps 25 percent of the Lions' total cap structure. "

"That nuance shifts extraordinary leverage to Johnson in any negotiations that might occur over the next few months. If he does absolutely nothing, the Lions would be required to pay him about $77 million -- and substantially limit their cap flexibility -- to keep him on their roster for the next three seasons. "

The Philadelphia Eagles have locked up wide receiver DeSean Jackson, the team announced.

Jackson agreed to a five-year, $51 million contract, a league source with knowledge of the deal confirmed.

Jackson was originally designated as the Eagles' franchise player under a one-year, $9.4 million tender.

"We are thrilled to be able to keep one of the NFL's top playmakers in Philadelphia," Eagles coach Andy Reid said. "DeSean is a game breaker, he has the speed and ability to score from anywhere on the field, and he has proven himself to be a big threat for our offense. Signing our own players was a big priority for us this offseason and DeSean was certainly high on our list. We are very excited about his future as an Eagle."

Jackson has caught 229 passes for 4,085 yards and 21 touchdowns.

He's a two-time Pro Bowl selection.

A former second-round draft pick, Jackson has averaged 17.8 yards per catch for his career.

The Eagles had made it clear that they wanted to sign Jackson on a long-term basis, issuing a statement to that effect when they franchised him.

And now the Eagles have accomplished that goal.

Desean at 10mil a year is a hefty price. I know he's good, but he is WR 1 good? Especially for the next 5 years? That personality, thats damn risky.

He's been WR 1 good his whole career (except last year's shitshow). Demands a lot of attention from teh defense which is what you want. Maybe not an elite 1 like Andre/Calvin/Fitz. But then he'd command closer to 20 mil/year.

Looks like the Cowboys also got Vickers - great signing there for Murray. I don't know WTF the Texans are thinking, but maybe the Cowboys can get Winston or Meyers too. Mario would be a longshot at this point.

Carl Nicks and Eric Wright to TB as well. Seems they are getting things done early and often.

Meant to add: This leads me to believe that Trent Richardson goes at #5 to them. New run blocking guard and filled the corner position.

Those were nice moves. Hopefully, they get back to picking well in the draft.

I think Manning is done with team visits. I think we may see a decision today or tomorrow. I am thinking the Titans and Broncos are really close in his mind but now I am leaning towards him going to the Titans.

With the moves KC has made, he should go there - but they've been out of the running for awhile. I'd rather play for the Chiefs over the Broncos, but I bet Elway is praying to Tebow, err, I mean Jesus that Manning would choose the Broncos.

My understanding is that Manning turned the Seahawks and Chiefs down immediately. The rumor I read was that Manning doesn't think he can work with Scott Pioli.

Ben Grubbs is headed to New Orleans. Looks like the Ravens didn't have the cap space to keep him as everyone predicted.

The Colts signed Cory Redding from the Ravens the other day. I'm not overly familiar with him, but I assume they signed him to replace Freeney.
