Miami is retarded, Flynn went to Seattle for dirt cheap and Flynn really wanted to be with his old coach. Talk about cheap.

With the premium price for QBs this offseason, Seattle got a killer deal. I'm really impressed by this move and it makes me have even more confidence in our front office. Worst case scenario you're out $10 mil and you address the QB issue next season. I think Flynn is going to be serviceable at worst, though, and a monster at best.

I mean compare it to what the Redskins did, or whoever signs Manning is going to do.

The problem with Smith is that if he stays, he won't be happy because there's always that nagging feeling about your coaches wanting to replace you. If he goes, and Niners don't get Manning, then we're pretty much without a QB. That alone is disruptive enough for the entire team, and its chemistry.

Not only that, the whole "team first" mantra that Harbaugh tried to raise in the locker room, all turns out to be "business first". Players won't like it, and then all you got left is business as usual, with players playing for themselves.

Like I said, they done goofed.

I'm not totally up to date on SF news, but weren't the fans pretty anti-Smith as it was anyway? If his feelings weren't hurt already then I'm not sure why they would be now.

Fans are fickle, and SF has some of the most fickle of fans. Floosies, bandwagoners, fairweather fans, whatever you wanna call them. I highly doubt Smith paid any attention to that.

Smith never really had consistent coaching, or receivers that he could throw to (not to mention a very porous O-line). And with last year's performance, and the addition to the receiver corps, this was going to be Smith's year with the Niners. A year to improve upon the last season, a year to perhaps winning it all. Then he took an arrow to the knee (or knife to the back by his agent, the front office, his coaches, whatever). How would YOU feel?

Smith's best year is barely better than Mannings worst year, yet there is a debate over which one to sign?

manning wants something like 4 years at 95 million....

At that price, anything short of winning a superbowl each year will be a failure....

why shouldn't there be? As great as he is, Manning is a geezer coming off of 4 neck and spinal surgeries with unproven recovery.

Smith is still young, coming off of his best year, with a team and coaches that got behind him and actively promoted his game. Also, the following season would be his first consecutive season with an AD and offensive scheme.

Here's Alex Smith's 2011 season (first line) compared to the career averages per 16 games of two pretty big name QBs. Bonus points for anyone who can figure out the other two without looking it up. He stacks up pretty well. Fewer turnovers and yardage, which is by design based on the offense they run. Also, consider that they were basically playing with one WR the whole season (Braylon Edwards was a corpse, and Ted Ginn and Kyle Williams are #3 receivers at best).

I think Alex Smith is an ok qb, I don't understand what all the hate is towards him. That being said, is he really a big improvement over Matt Moore? Yeah Moore's stats are not super impressive but he did have a decent year last year, a rating of 87 compared to Smith's 91.

At least the Saints got a good replacement for Carl Nicks, was sad to see him go though. Saints need to start looking at some defensive FA.

Washington Redskins free agent safety LaRon Landry has joined the New York Jets on a one-year, $4 million contract, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.
Landry visited the Jets and the New England Patriots
A former first-round draft pick from LSU whose older brother, Dawan Landry, plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Landry has a reputation as a big hitter.
He finished last season on injured reserve due to a left Achilles tendon injury and has played in only 15 games over the past two seasons.

Source: Manning working deal with Denver

Following intense courting from numerous NFL franchises, Jay Glazer has confirmed that the future Hall of Fame quarterback has opened contract negotiations to become the next QB of the Denver Broncos.
The other finalists in the bidding were Tennessee and San Francisco. Manning threw for the Broncos, 49ers and Titans in private workouts last week to show where he stands in his recovery from a series of neck surgeries. Before he traveled to meet with the Titans and Arizona Cardinals, the Broncos hosted the first of Manning’s three free-agent visits. Manning also met with members of the 49ers and Miami Dolphins.
Of all the teams in the running, Denver has the most salary-cap space available to sign Manning. The presence of Broncos executive vice president John Elway, a Hall of Fame quarterback, and a standout veteran head coach like John Fox also had appeal.
By working with Manning, the Broncos may be ready to cut ties with current starter Tim Tebow. One of the NFL’s most polarizing figures, Tebow led the Broncos into the second round of the playoffs last season but is also an unconventional quarterback who may not be able to run the kind of pro-style offense that Denver wants to employ.

Pats pick up Robert Gallery, Donte Stallworth. Not big moves, but Gallery at least provides some depth at guard in case Brian Waters retires.

I like what the Pats have done on the offensive side, shoring up depth where it was a little thin. Here's hoping that they make defense the focus of the draft, though.

With the addition of Stallworth the writing has got to be on the wall for Chad Johnson

Sounds like the Broncos may now be interested in WR Brandon Stokley and Center Jeff Saturday. Not sure what kind of gas Stokley has left but I have always routed for him since he went to my high school and college.

That'd be odd for Stokely to circle around back to Denver.

It's still arguing about getting a banged up porsche or a lux k-car, most people that want to win would bet on the porsche

/Lions resigned Tulloch!
