I don't understand the Texans. Most recent move must be a big ol' fuck you to the Cowboys for picking up Vickers, but who knows. The FO for the Texans have set sail for fail this off season.

So 49ers and Smith are now a couple again.

:whiste: Reunited and it feels so good...:whiste:

49ers are gonna be dangerous next season, don't know if 13-3 will happen again though. The NFC west looks like it may be gaining in strength, I doubt the Rams will be the huge disappointment they were last season. I think the days of NFC "worst" are behind at the moment.

Arizona Cardinals resign Early Doucet via Mike Sando ESPN, not sure to the exact deal though.

Yeah, with the schedule, don't know if the team can pull 13-3 again. But I think they'll definitely be in the playoffs.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/...les-Houston-Texans-trade-midround-pick-032012

The Philadelphia Eagles entered the offseason hoping to upgrade at linebacker.

That goal was completed in a big way Tuesday thanks to a trade with the Houston Texans.
FOXSports.com learned, according to a source close to the negotiations, that Houston agreed to terms of a deal that will send two-time Pro Bowl selection DeMeco Ryans to the Eagles for a mid-round draft choice.
The teams later announced the deal was for a fourth-round draft pick in 2012, The Associated Press reported. The Eagles and Texans also swapped third-round choices in 2012. The Eagles now have the 89th pick overall, while the Texans have the 77th pick.
Ryans will provide an immediate upgrade at middle linebacker for the Eagles. Ryans, 27, has averaged 106 tackles in his six NFL seasons with the Texans and is regarded as one of the best at his position.
''DeMeco is a proven Pro Bowl linebacker in this league and we're excited to be able to plug him into the middle of our defense,'' Eagles coach Andy Reid said in the AP report. ''He's been the signal caller and a leader on a very good Texans defense for the last several years. He's a tough, instinctive football player and he'll be a great fit for our team.''
The trade is a win-win for both teams. Because the Texans switched to a 3-4 defense last season under coordinator Wade Phillips, Ryans doesn’t have as much value to Houston as when the club played in a 4-3 scheme for his first five seasons. Ryans finished with 64 tackles in 2011, which was the lowest 16-game total in his NFL career. Darryl Sharpton is expected to take his spot next to Brian Cushing in Houston’s starting lineup.
Regarded as one of Houston’s team leaders, Ryans was named the Texans’ Ed Block Courage Award winner last season for overcoming a torn Achilles tendon that limited him to six games in 2010.

The Texans ranked second in total defense last season (285.7 yards per game), finished 10-6 and earned their first division title and playoff berth. But they lost key players in free agency, including Williams, right tackle Eric Winston and right guard Mike Brisiel and now Ryans, the team's union representative.
Dealing Ryans left some of the remaining players wondering about the team's direction. Defensive ends Antonio Smith and J.J. Watt talked about losing Ryans on the NFL Network on Wednesday night.
''It's a big surprise to me,'' Smith said. ''I don't know what is going on at this moment, but DeMeco is a great player, a leader. He's going to be an asset to each and every team he plays for. Our defense is going to miss him.
''That's all I can say about it.''
Watt, Houston's first-round draft pick last year, said Ryans was ''the most respected guy on the defense, our leader.''
''He's a guy that everybody turns to, especially when things are going tough,'' Watt said. ''It's tough to see him go, but at the end of the day, what can we do? He's obviously going to go play great football for the Eagles. Now it's time for the rest of us, as a defense, to step up and find a new leader and go out there and play football. We can't do anything about that, so it's time for us to go out there and do it on our own.''

I don't know where I said it...this thread..the Manning one...somewhere....

I said the Texans would take a step backwards this year. But holy crap these guys seem to be full on regressing. If they stumble into the playoffs it's going to be in NFC West style of two years ago.

Why? Ryans didn't play much last year b/c of injuries i think, plus his fit in the 3-4 isn't quite as good from what I have heard.

Texans will do fine without him

Didn't they also lose like half their starting OL? I would have thought the loss of Mario would be significant too, then I remembered he was injured most of last year.

Him, some scrub named Mario Williams is gone. They lost a couple guys from their O-Line. I'm still waiting to see how long Phillips hangs out there before he tries his hand at a HC position again.

Nevermind that they're losing Dressen, they cut Vickers (Top 3 FB) and they still haven't made a move on a WR.

As one article nicely put it, Elway might now be regarded as the second best QB in Broncos history. 😀

Nope. Manning will never overshadow a career of 5 super bowls with 2 back to back wins, plus all the other build up to those games. He won't even be in the NFL long enough to touch what Elway did over for the Broncos. Even in the unlikely scenario that he gets us to the SB again, it's not possible to catch up to Elway.

Other thread got locked so:

So is their sentance complete? I would think they should strip them of their future draft picks as well (ie because of coaching staff no on the field they tank and get great draft picks next year).

Yeah was a ninja lock while I was typing my reply there. Guess we don't want to clog up ATOT with this useless banter and hinder all the productive threads in here. 😉

Glad to see they dropped the hammer on the Saints. I'd like to laugh at all their obnoxious fans from 09 but I think they only have fairweather fans.

And glad to see Tebow go to play with Rex, I can hate on them together now. Seriously though, you couldn't turn on a TV or radio on Sunday this past season without hearing about Tebow every 5 minutes, and it was every 10 minutes Monday thru Saturday - a few months later and he's traded for a fourth-round draft pick and will be a backup QB... behind Mark Sanchez. L M A O. The Lord works in mysterious ways. ()🙂

Wow, NFL drops the hammer on the Saints. Sucks that we were the ones that got caught and have to take the hammer

Saints - $500k, 2nd round pick in 2012, 2nd round pick in 2013
Peyton - One year suspension
Loomis - $500k, 8 game suspension
