Help please, having trouble with P5B MB.
Crashes w/IE6/7 (IE 7 uninstalled) consistently but intermittently upon loading images, going back to prior page displays. Games - DVDShrink etc. cause same problem w/totally blank screen followed by re-boot back into windows.
2nd MB w/multiple WinXP SP2 & updates installed.
Configuration - Mother Board: P5b Deluxe BIOS P5WDH 1004
Processor: E6600 Retail
Memory: 2 GiG of Crucial (TY2Kit12864AA663) {2 x 1GB DDR2 5300}
New 500GB Sata - Maxtor (7h500F0)
Powersupply: 550 Watt Zumax (ZU550W)
Not Overclocked - not stable enough
Event log does not provide much info as to cause or what is occurring. Thinking it might be a memory "dump" but nothing recorded, so unable to track.
Suggestions and Help Please, no response from ASUS Memory is listed at Crucial but not can not find again.
Dave & Grant
Have you ran memtest? Something like that?
It is random reboot? Or every time you do these things you said the system reboots?
Everything is stock? Have you tried to raise the vcore? Are the voltages stable?
If the memtest pass and raise the vcore don't help.
I would say that you getting HDD error. Something like that.
Try those things and answer those questions. And we might have a solution for you.

First, I would like thank Rafael for the excellent advise... Second, I appolgise that i have not been able to respond sooner. With work and non-functioning computer, it can be diffucult.
Next, I would like to say that memory test that I ran came back with tons of errors. (so many infact, I immidately called Crucial for and RMA exchange. 2048+ errors)
NOW the bad news... I have replaced the exchaged memory with the new Balistics (BL12864AA663.16FD2) 2x1Gig PC2-5300 CL3 Sticks. And the I immidatelly ran the memory test again. I comes back with as many errors as the other memory. Is it possible that this type of memory is incompatible with this motherbord?
The Memory tester I used was: Memtest86+ Ver.1.70

Another thought, I was thinking that it could be the powersupply. I am not sure it is providing the mb with enough power. it is a 550W PS though. any thoughs would be greatly appriciated!
thanks Grant & Dave
PS: To answer some of these question posted earlyer.
It is random reboot? Random
Or every time you do these things you said the system reboots? When I am running aplications. (explorer, Games, etc.)
Everything is stock? I have used the default settings.
Have you tried to raise the vcore? I have 1.30 (i think)
Are the voltages stable? How can i tell?
