Whenever I set RAS-to-CAS delay to 2 and reboot I kept a corrupt BIOS. The message is something like "BIOS is corrupt, please insert CDROM or floppy disk with backup BIOS". If I power down and disconnect the ATX power connector, and power up a while later I get no VGA response but I can see the computer seeking the CD and FDD so I know it's trying to auto-recover.

That is a corrupt BIOS.

Different revisions of the BIOS on other mainboards (P4C800, there is even variation among the P4P800) have allowed for different memory timings, it is possible.

Also why would I have to re-flash 1006? Writing 1007 doesn't erase the part of the BIOS that contains the BIOS recovery feature, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to recover from a disk and would have had to try hotflash.

Hey Misses Smarty girl.... if you know it all fix it. My P4P800Del is running day to day ROCK SOLID STABLE at 240fsb 480Mhz WITH 4...repeat...4 sticks of OCZ 2x256 GOLD. Oh yeah, that's with MAM and TURBO enabled with 2 Raptors in a RAID 0 config and an ATI AIW 9700 Pro with an Audigy2 Plat. Did I mention I had NO problems either after installing 1006 and upgrading from there?? But YOU know it all right and spend your time on here trying to get yours straightened out but knocking people who just happen to know a little bit more...

Believe it or not but it will by a lousy 1/16th of an inch! But it's a clean 1/16th. Yeah it fits. Got one on mine.

I have a small question if that's ok: i am no expert, but can bios flashing from 1.005 to 1.007 skipping 1.006 give any sort of problems. I mean, if you flash to the latest BIOS from whatever previous version you have, doesn't that always include all previous releases?! Just asking to be sure.

The motherboard backplate has an spdif_out (yellow RCA jack) and the motherboard itself has an internal header for it as well.

Yes it has a SPDIF port right below the keyboard connector on the packplane connector panel.

Well I would suspect that each and every BIOS version is self inclusive, You are not actually changing or adding individual things but rather reflashing the entire BIOS program. Therefore it would not make any difference which version you now have or if you skip a version. I myself went from V1.005 which came with my board from the factory to V1.007 with no problems at all. I did have trouble flashing in the MSDOS mode. The whole system just locked up and the BIOS got corrupted. I had to pull the backup battery from the board and use the CMOS BIOS reset jumper to restore the system. I then tried the other method of flashing where you renaame the BIOS update file on a floppy to "P4P800.ROM" and rebooted and it worked fine.

I would assume so but according to some users the 1.006 is required for some FSB speeds to be usable.

yes, just install the 3rd party RAOID driver when XP asks you to upon startup

Has anyone had the issue that WIn XP can't find their onboard LAN. Both areas in the BIOS is enabled to use the LAN but there is no device in device manager or can I use the port. I'm using the latest beta bios, which I upgraded in hoping to find the LAN.

Laelie, did you install the driver from the cd ? XP had no problems with the onboard lan as soon as I ran the cd based 3com driver install.

In the p4p800 bios, under the Advanced tab, what does "MPS Revision" mean? I have two options, 1.1 and 1.4. After installing the latest patches, it has defaulted to 1.1 (but used to be 1.4)... what should i have it at? and what does it do?
