Dennis,
Hi, from what I gathered reading this thread, a lot of poeple are having issues with the M2N-E.

Most come from the users who OC. For those who don't OC, are still having issues when they don't buy the correct memory. I believe the memory has to be 1.9v rated. Which seems to be a limited supply.

OC'ing is a very common practice, and must consumers expect to be able to over clock.

Thanks for the link to the other forum. I'll read that over also.

Well, some of my friends said that DFI has failed in these AM2-generation mobos. The 939-socket was terrific, but the AM2 seems not to have the O/C stability and performance that the 939 did in DFI's mobos... I like this M2N-E, but it would be really nice to have more voltage for DDRs, after that, this would be a very nice mobo.

Yes, M2N-E is a good mobo with new BIOS except VDimm, I like it too. It could OC to 50%, I think it is enough for running everyday. For racing please choose another expensive mobo. The performance of M2N-E is compatible with 100 bucks, I think.

I agree (I run a 38% OC stable on air) but not compatible with its original specs, which promised vDIMM to 2.50v

Besides The VDimm, this is a great board, good temps overclocks good imo, ive got mine at 240 fsb, and its still rock stable, im running my ddr 667(1.8v)@800mhz(1.85v) and my x2 3800 is running at 2400, on stock cooling 30c/52c stock thermal pad🙂
anyways the only problem I face Is i must shutdown my PC and turn it back on if I want to restart it. but i could care less, as long as m rig owrks for games im happy.
I think Im the only person that has good working ram other than inspire. btw im running bios 0205 i believe.
May I ask what you guys get for a Mobo temp, mine seems to idle around 29c and hits 33 under load
P.s my room temp is 18c so I think that has to do with my temps.
ram is ocz value pro, 5 5 5 5 11 2t 1.8 volts(awesome for teh price)

I have good working RAM too. I'm using Kingston Value Ram 2X512MB at 667MHZ at 4-4-4-12 timings. I used AI Overclock in BIOS and overclocked it by 5%. I then ran Orthos blend for around 8 hours. I'm using BIOS 0103 I think.

I believe he is running 2t, I never even bothered to try 1t on my system, waiting on my scythe mine So i can push my rig some more, I noticed you have the scyte mine too inspire, how were your temps at stock, and how much room do you got inside your case?
how many people have 1.8 volt ram here?

Hi,

i'm new to oc, can some guide me or give me some links?

my rig's specs are in my signature, just mild ocing will do. Thanks!

I have 1.8V ram. 2X512MB Kingston ValueRAM 667MHZ @ 700MHZ Auto Volt 4-4-4-12-2T.

Welcome to the forums Andy

Yeah, it doesn't seem to like 1T much at all. I have a Cooler Master Cavalier Aluminum Mid-Tower. It's pretty spacious. I think I still have some pics on my box at home of the interior (was trying to show off my mad cable-mgmt skillz). The Scythe Mine` @ stock ran about 27 / 34 c (idle / load). My ram is 1.9v (no headroom). Somewhere in this thread was a link to a voltmod for the memory; it was very explicit, but I never tried it.

Good to hear it djole, and welcome to the forums. Are you plannig to overclock at all?

Im planning on getting the scythe mine very soon, currently I dont feel like going past 2.4 ghz which puts my ram at 800, i want to lower my ram to 533 and overclock my cpu to 2.8ghz bring my ram back to 800mhz again, im unsure how far I could push my ram, as I can pull off a stable run of prime at 1.8 but i chose to use 1.85 volts instead. im moreso scared to push my ram passed 800mhz, any thoughts on if I should push it farther, my ram is the one thing I dont wanna ruin from overclocking, I wouldnt mind having to upgrade to a core 2 system, if it unfortunatly died due to overclocking.

funny thing is when I was buying this computer I had no idea what I was getting into, luckely I bought 1.8 volt unknowingly, i was gonna get the same ram you have now inspire.

Wasn't this thread on a sticky? What happened to the sticky....

Also has anyone tried using the AI Music Alarm? My AI Music Alarm doesn't seem to work at all....🙁

Finally, does anyone have a problem with their SoundMAX audio device? It takes for me to work it at like 100% with good bass and everything, but then there's the control panel....After I restart my computer, the SoundMAX control panel disappears. I tried using the BETA driver from ASUS, but I get BSODs instead.

Many thanks in advance.

I am a noob, bought this board without consulting this forum.......
I get crashes: in the bios , during mem test, before memtest.
Sometimes when i turn it on it turns off before i get any picture.
Some times it is stable for some while.....
Then i flashed the bios to 502(with high hopes), without succes, nothing has changed.
I use 2x 1GIg 1.8V ddr 800 MDT 5-5-5-15or18(dunno) -2T(mem is not on site of manufacturer)
And have a 3800 + 2400Mhz(not an X2)
Tried all kinds of bios settings but just cant figure it out to get it stable.
When i put the Mem at 400Mhz it seems to be a bit more stable but that is all i can say.
Can you tell me what bios items i should change?(in standard setup it is all bad too).
HELP
--------------
probably last time asus buyer (buy at least 1 a year)

I clean install Window and after that I instal driver follow as: chipset -> video card ->sound driver (using install disc of Asus). And I don't have any problem with Soundmax, everything is OK but I'm so disapointed about quality of sound, I see my old Live 4.1 have a better sound, specially about headphone, with soundmax bass is disapear, the sound is mixed togther ->so terible although I adjust equalizer by anyway, I returned to my old Creative Blaster Live. The best onboard sound I see is Sound Storm from Nforce2, but NVIDIA have not developed it anymore.
